Mother Jones reporter and MSNBC analyst David Corn showed me a photo of the “obscene” anti-Ocasio-Cortez graffiti he found in an airport bathroom this week and, honestly, it was pretty underwhelming. Corn tweeted about the graffiti to his over-700,000 followers Tuesday but opted not to share the photo, sparking a flurry of responses from skeptical Twitter users who believed Corn was making up the story entirely or had written the graffiti himself. America loves an underdog and a good story. The rise of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had all the markings of just such a story. The 28-year-old unknown millennial Latina from the Bronx pulled off a stunning upset in a New York City Democratic congressional primary, knocking off a prominent party veteran in her first bid for public office. Ocasio-Cortez won 57.5% of the vote against Rep. Joe Crowley, a 10-term Democrat in the 14th Congressional District in New York widely seen by many as a possible successor to Rep. Just when you thought MSNBC couldn't get any more vulgar, along comes Donny Deutsch this morning to suggest that the judge who yesterday sentenced Paul Manafort had a "hard-on" against the Mueller investigation.For those unfamiliar with the expression, in this context it would mean that the judge held a grudge against the investigation. Strangely, the media have suddenly taken an intense interest in the case of pedophile and major Democratic donor Jeffrey Epstein. In 2005, the Palm Beach police were told by the mother of a young girl in West Palm Beach that her daughter had been brought to the Democratic donor's mansion and asked to have sex with him for money. The cast of MSNBC's Morning Joe like to view themselves as the defenders of truth and justice in an age when such ideals are supposedly under attack by President Trump. Any presidential hyperbole is condemned as a lie, while their own hyperbole is speaking truth to power. That is, of course, a reference to the fictional character Fredo Corleone, the weak, least-intelligent of the children of the Godfather, Vito Corleone. After Scarborough's second use of "Fredo," Mika Brzezinski quietly corrected her husband: "you mean Don Jr." An unrepentant Scarborough responded: "okay, Don Jr., same thing."
