VIDEOS AT LINK............. Some of you may remember Pontiac. Years from now, some of us may remember Dodge. What happened to the former is on the verge of happening to the latter, some 45 years later. And for the same reason. In 1979, Pontiac announced the last call – for a big-engined Trans-Am. No more 400s – the 6.6 liter V8s that set apart the late-’70s TA as something unlike anything else you could buy at the time, including the Corvette – which had nothing bigger to offer than a 5.7 liter 350 cubic incher. The word got out quickly....

When it comes to barn finds, nothing's more satisfying than seeing a classic that's been sitting for decades come back to life with proper cleaning. But it gets even better when the vehicle in question is a rare muscle car. Say a 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A. Based on either the Charger or Challenger, the last of seven limited editions was planned for the SEMA show in November, but supply-chain problems pushed that date back. ==================================================================== ** Dodge has revealed six out of the seven "Last Call" send-offs for the Charger and Challenger, but has now announced the final debut has been pushed back. ** Dodge cited "product and supply challenges" and said the reveal will be rescheduled. ** We’re not sure what form this Last Call model will take, but we can be fairly certain that it will be powered by a V-8 with at least...

How was the only Ford Mustang with only 2 seats, known as “Shorty” saved? That is a story just like those written by the Brothers Grimm. In the early ‘60s, the company Ford planned to develope a sports version of the Mustang with two seats. But, at that time Ford was still influenced by the former conservative president Robert McNamara, so chances for the production of this model were minimal. From the drawing tables, this wonderful car turned into a functional prototype and with an interesting game of the destiny it managed to “survive”, although it was scheduled for destruction....

DETROIT (AP) — The most powerful street-legal Ford Mustang ever built will go on sale this fall. A 5.2-liter supercharged V8 will crank out 760 horsepower in the 2020 Shelby GT500. The new version has a beefed-up suspension and brakes. It also has a seven-speed automatic transmission that Ford promises will shift smoothly on commutes and quickly on the track. The engine is hand-built at a Michigan factory and comes with unique pistons and other parts. It can crank out 625 foot-pounds of torque, a measure of rotational force.

Someday, all of the classic muscle cars stashed in country barns will have either been found or rusted away. Until then, you can only hope to be as lucky as the Alabama man who found one of the rarest Dodges ever rotting in a shed. The car in question was a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, a vehicle sold mainly to meet NASCAR rules, with just 503 built. Powered by a 440 Magnum V-8 conservatively rated at 375 hp, and sporting the massive wing that defined the early superspeedway Mopars, the Daytona was a force of reckoning at every stop light....

Dodge just announced that the 2015 Challenger SRT Hellcat will deliver 707 hp, in addition to 650 lb-ft of torque. Let us repeat. 707 horsepower. That's more than the last Corvette ZR1. More than the new Corvette Z06. Did we mention that's more than the frickin' Viper's V10?

DETROIT — Pontiac, the brand that invented the muscle car under its flamboyant engineer John Z. DeLorean, helped Burt Reynolds elude Sheriff Justice in “Smokey and the Bandit” and taught baby boomers to salivate over horsepower, but produced mostly forgettable cars for their children, will endure a lonely death on Sunday after about 40 million in sales. It was 84 years old. The cause of death was in dispute. Fans said Pontiac’s wounds were self-inflicted, while General Motors blamed a terminal illness contracted during last year’s bankruptcy. Pontiac built its last car nearly a year ago, but the official end...

Sexy as a swollen porn star on meth, twice as useless: Have you seen this thing? This sexy macho bloated Hot Wheels fantasia dreamgasm of a car-like drunken child's funbot crayon sketch? No? Because it appears to be a vehicle that at least some across the Big Autosphere are still secretly praying, despite the sudden overthrow of -- despite the deadly ultimatum for -- General Motors, might yet prove to be a savior.

General Motors Corp. will save about 2,500 jobs in Oshawa, Ontario, by building a revived Chevrolet Camaro sports car there in two years, the union that represents the workers said. Production of the 2009 Camaro will begin at the end of 2008 as part of a $662 million investment, the company's Canadian unit said Monday. GM, the world's largest automaker, made the previous Camaro in Ste. Therese, Quebec, until 2002. Members of the Canadian Auto Workers paved the way for the decision by agreeing in March to concessions that included shorter break times and use of contract employees. GM said...

TORONTO (Reuters) - General Motors Corp. (GM.N: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Monday it will make the latest version of its legendary Chevrolet Camaro muscle car at its major Canadian plant just outside Toronto, a decision that will save thousands of jobs at the facility. The automaker said production of the Camaro, which was GM's main muscle car from 1967 to 2002, will begin in late 2008 at Oshawa, Ontario, about an hour's drive east of Toronto. The new Camaro is set to arrive in showrooms by early 2009. GM Canada's Oshawa workers, members of the Canadian Auto Workers union,...

Plymouth Road Runner History1968-1980 Introduction: By 1968, muscle cars had moved away from their street slepper image and had become option loaded, luxury machines that only the well to do could afford. Plymouth decided that what was needed was a return to basics. Starting with the stripped pillared coupe version of the Belvedere, it created a new breed of muscle car that packed maximum excitement with a minimum price. Just like the old days. 1968 Plymouth Road Runner Comments: In 1968, Plymouth decided that muscle cars had gotten too far from their original purpose: cheap (and very fast)...
