Former Vice President Mike Pence on Monday pushed back on former President Trump’s assertion that the Constitution should be disregarded to allow for him to return to the White House in the wake of new revelations about Twitter’s handling of a controversial story about Hunter Biden. “I must tell you that I think that everyone that serves in public office, everyone that aspires to serve or serve again should make it clear that we will support and defend the Constitution of the United States,” Pence said on WVOC radio in Columbia, S.C., ahead of a visit to the state on...

Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA) said Thursday on MSNBC’s “The Beat” that the House Select Committee investigating the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot had “ample evidence of criminality” by former President Donald Trump. Schiff said, “I can say say that any of the players who were involved in the bogus litigation involve in discussions at the White House whether voting machines ought to be seized or what the authority was or the declaration or martial law, you know, we want to bring them all in. Obviously, I think Mr. Giuliani is a person who will have a great deal of relevant...

California's Attorney General has begun hauling the CEOs of major oil companies into his office - demanding, in closed door sessions, that those executives tell him, under oath, why gas prices are higher in California than almost anywhere else in the nation. "This is legal thievery in my view," California State Attorney General Bill Lockyer told CBS News correspondent Sandra Hughes. "It's because it's an oligopoly: it's when you have a handful of companies, seven exactly, that control almost the entire California market." Those companies insist they're operating within the law, and not trying to gouge their customers. California drivers...

Seeking closure Seahawks air gripes over Super Bowl calls with NFL Posted: Monday May 22, 2006 8:19AM; Updated: Monday May 22, 2006 11:13AM Last Wednesday, exactly 100 days after the Seahawks fell to the Steelers in Super Bowl XL, NFL director of officiating Mike Pereira boarded a plane for Seattle. Truth be told, he was a little apprehensive. That's putting it mildly. "Oh, we're loaded up for Mike,'' Seattle coach Mike Holmgren said of Pereira's visit the day before he arrived. Pereira was going into the same kind of road venue North Carolina enters at Duke, the Red Sox walk...

Biodiesel can be made from domestically produced, renewable oilseed crops such as hemp. With over 30 million successful U.S. road miles hemp boidiesel could be the answer to our cry for cheaper fuel. We have spent the last century polluting our beautiful country with our petroleum based fuels that could have easily been replaced with fuels derived from hemp. It would only take 6% of our U.S. land to produce enough hemp, for hemp fuel, to make us energy independent from the rest of the world. Help us teach America the truth. Make yourself a human billboard that speaks only...

Cocaine, marijuana, heroin and LSD - all of these drugs are illegal to possess, produce or traffic in the United States of America. Yet, tobacco, alcohol and various other over the counter drugs are legal in the United States. Why, I ask? I do not understand why certain drugs are illegal in America, and why other drugs that are just as dangerous and addictive are legally and socially accepted. This country currently spends tens of billions of dollars each year trying to prevent drugs from entering the country. At the same time, billions of dollars are spent on advertisements promoting...

At a recent National Coal Group meeting, Sen. Robert C. Byrd told audience members that coal needs to play a part in America's new energy policy in the coming years. During this past State of the Union, president Bush outlined a plan that would begin to phase out our reliance on foreign oil and look to more renewable resources. Coal, however, is also a non-renewable resource and is just as bad for the environment. Coal has also been an energy staple in America since the beginning of the 20th century. How then can it be part of a "new" energy...

LONDON: Heavy demand for gold from Russia, China, India, the Middle East and possibly the United States is likely to push the price up to a record high of $650 an ounce by the end of 2006. In the United States, where demand for gold is about half that of Europe, concern about the impact of the changeover at the millennium boosted gold demand in 1999, and fear could at some time be a factor again, Frank Holmes, chief executive of US Global Investors, said this week. "If fear takes hold the price of gold could jump faster than people...

Former ambassador speaks on Iraq, CIA leak investigation In a talk sponsored by the Northeastern College Democrats at Blackman Auditorium Nov. 21, Wilson laid out the story of how he had gone from being a relatively anonymous state department official to "Valerie Plame's husband," sparing few from potent verbal attacks along the way. He was able to provide the audience with a full account of the trip to Niger he called the reason for his character assassination and, as a "side issue," his reaction to the outing of his wife's identity as a spy with the CIA. Wilson, a former...
