  • MSNBC’s Matthews Warns of 1972 Nixon-McGovern Repeat in 2020 with Far-Left Dem Candidates

Tuesday on MSNBC’s “Hardball,” host Chris Matthews offered his take on the Democratic Party’s drift to the far-left, which he warned could have an impact on the 2020 presidential election. Matthews reminded voters of the 1972 presidential election between incumbent President Richard Nixon and then-Democratic presidential nominee Sen. George McGovern (D-SD). Nixon won in a landslide, taking 49 states and 60% of the popular vote. He suggested such a scenario could be possible in 2020 if Democrats nominated a far-left candidate to go up against President Donald Trump in 2020. ~snip~ “What’s hard is to identify a leading candidate that...

It's amazing how similar middle-class and well-positioned African Americans are to white elites in their perspectives on US politics. They continue to play in the sandbox of respectability politics and civility, as if only since the election of Donald Trump as president has racial and socioeconomic progress been in jeopardy. Take Washington Post columnist Colbert I King's reaction to US Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy's retirement last month. The "honor - or from, my point of view, blame" for strengthening the right-wing hold on the Supreme Court

Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI) is set on Tuesday to unveil a constitutional amendment to abolish the Electoral College and allow for the election of presidents by popular vote, The Daily Beast has learned. The amendment is supported by other Democrats in the chamber, an aide said, including Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and senior members of the Senate Judiciary Committee: Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Dianne Feinstein (D-CA).

Donald Trump Jr. is exactly right: when female athletes train their whole lives to be the best at their sport, only to be denied their rightfully earned victory — as well as opportunities for scholarship money — by men who enjoy the performance-enhancing advantages of XY chromosomes, it is indeed a “grave injustice.” But this week, Democrats have introduced legislation to normalize such injustice on a national level through an Orwellian twist of language, calling their bill the “Equality” Act. This bill would make sweeping changes to civil rights laws, replacing our cherished values of freedom and liberty with intimidation...
  • Chicago Dilutes Right to Vote by Designating Illegal Alien ID Card as a Registration Document

Chicago's new identification card, created with illegal aliens in mind, is being deemed acceptable by the State of Illinois for voter registration purposes. First, let me say without a shadow of a doubt that there is no instant "trigger" when an alien registers to vote, and the implication that an alien will therefore instantly be deported is risible. Even more risible is the assertion that checking a box attesting to citizenship will meaningfully deter illegal voting by aliens. That defies human nature. Since when has any fraudster been held back by the notion that he or she must lie on...
  • Petition seeks to rename Roosevelt Island, calls FDR ‘racist’

Roosevelt Island should be renamed because of FDR’s “racist” decision to send Japanese-Americans to internment camps during World War II, a new petition demands. Franklin Delano Roosevelt — who led the nation through the Great Depression and WWII and told Americans they had “nothing to fear but fear itself” — is nevertheless unworthy of having his name on the 147-acre island that is home to 9,700 New Yorkers, those behind the petition claim. “To add injury to insult, the name was taken away from the Native American people who were slaughtered by the American settlers,” said Margarita L., who started...

Democratic Gov. John Carney has signed legislation adding Delaware to a group of states pledging to give their Electoral College presidential votes to the winner of the national popular vote, regardless of the voters' will in those states. Carney's approval Thursday makes Delaware the 13th Democratic-leaning state to join the popular-vote compact...

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again—or just hide your idea in a giant piece of legislation, where you hope it won’t get noticed. The National Popular Vote campaign hopes that Minnesota voters won’t see its sneaky maneuver until it’s too late. Perhaps National Popular Vote supporters feel desperate. They’ve been trying to get their controversial interstate compact approved in Minnesota since 2009, but the legislation always flounders. This year, National Popular Vote is trying something new in Minnesota. Its compact has been introduced as standalone legislation, just as it normally is. Meanwhile, the compact also has been...

Delaware Gov. John Carney (D) signed a bill that would give the state's presidential electoral votes to the winner of the national popular vote, according to the Associated Press. In signing the bill, Delaware became the 13th state to join the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact. States that belong to the compact would award their electoral votes to whomever wins the popular vote nationally, regardless of the results in the Electoral College. With the addition of Delaware, states that belong to the compact hold 184 electoral votes, still well short of the 270 needed to ascend to the White House.

An effort led by Democrats to scrap or bypass the Electoral College and shift presidential elections to contests decided by the national popular vote has almost no chance of succeeding, guaranteeing Democrats will again have to defeat Trump in the Electoral College they lost in 2016 while winning more votes nationally. The Electoral College places the power to elect presidents in the hands of individual states and is enshrined in the Constitution.

Liberal billionaire Tom Steyer has refused to abandon his campaign for President Trump’s impeachment even after the special counsel’s report found no evidence of collusion between Trump and Russia. “The Democratic leadership in the Congress has the same goals and values that I do. But we have something that we disagree about, that is about tactics not about values or goals,” Steyer told ABC News in a podcast Thursday, referencing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s call for Democrats to back off calls for impeachment. Steyer said the “Need to Impeach” movement, which he heads, carry on seeking support for the removal...

Since the election of President Donald Trump in 2016, we have experienced a growing trend of once fringe activist groups who are now the leaders of the Democratic Party refusing to accept the results of his election, and subsequently the elections of other prominent Republican governors and members of Congress throughout our land. Even elections where it was obvious the Republican won, Democrats have demanded costly recounts and done everything in their power to destabilize the situation to the point of undermining our democratic republic. On Tuesday the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in two cases whose plaintiffs contend that legislative redistricting which disproportionately favors the political party in charge of the redistricting process is unconstitutional. These cases present the starkest possible test of whether the Court’s new, supposedly originalist five-justice majority will restore respect for the Constitution or follow previous SCOTUS majorities down the path of judicial imperialism. And so far, the oral arguments have raised concerns that newly appointed Justice Brett Kavanaugh may already be steering the court onto that path. Specifically, Justice Kavanaugh’s questions have suggested that proportional representation could be a...

I strongly supported Mueller being allowed to complete his investigation and submit his findings. Now that Mueller has found no collusion took place, we need to set aside our partisan interests and recognize that finding the president of the United States not guilty of conspiring with a foreign power to interfere with our elections is a good thing for America. If the president of the United States had been indicted for conspiring with Russia to interfere with and affect the outcome of our elections it would have precipitated a terribly divisive crisis that could have even led to civil war....

One of the firmest rules in modern American politics these days is that candidates need to get out there and define themselves before somebody else gets a chance to do it for them. That seems to be a lesson that hasn’t been lost on California Senator and presidential hopeful Kamala Harris (D). Her greatest fear clearly appears to be the risk of being seen as part of the old Democratic establishment in an era of aggressive young socialists influencing their party. She made that point clear when she showed up for church services in Atlanta this weekend, talking about the...

NEW YORK (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate Kirsten Gillibrand is calling President Donald Trump a "coward" who "punches down" and says that he is "tearing apart the moral fabric of our country." Gillibrand is set to say even more about Trump on Sunday as she stands in front of one of his signature New York properties. The days of New York City’s Tammany Hall and the Windy City’s “Chicago Machine” may be technically over, but that doesn’t mean Democrats have given up trying to rig and steal elections in a neverending power grab that would make Mayor Daley blush. Not by a long shot. In fact, you can bet the farm that virtually any cockamamie proposal put out there by anyone with a D beside their name is specifically designed to do one thing and one thing alone - get votes. Oh, I know they like to pretend they’re all about “virtue” and “values” and helping the...

Recently, Elizabeth Warren and a number of other Democratic candidates for president have suggested that the Electoral College be abolished. Right now, a candidate for president must win a majority of Electoral College votes regardless of the outcome of the national popular vote. President Donald Trump in 2016 and President George W. Bush in 2000, did not win the popular vote, but they did win a majority in the Electoral College. The Dems claim that this is not fair and that the president should be elected by popular vote. In fact, a number of states are trying to change their...

U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s blatantly partisan push to eliminate the Electoral College would disenfranchise vast swaths of America and make liberal cities the Kingpins of presidential politics. Warren’s new push for a popular vote is pandering at its worst — dangling an idea that would unabashedly aid the Democrat-controlled coasts of the country and turn the country into virtual one-party rule. Switching to a popular vote would only widen the current cultural divide that is gripping the nation, pitting the East and West coasts against the Heartland and rural America. The cities of Los Angeles and New York already decide...
