Medicare as we know it is thus not an option. The choice is between, on the one hand, a reform that leaves current seniors untouched for life and offers future seniors a guaranteed comprehensive benefit and more choices about how to get it or, on the other hand, cuts that affect both current and future beneficiaries and yet are still likely to fail to avert the program’s fiscal collapse. Mitt Romney offers the first — a plan for saving Medicare without increasing the risk to seniors. Barack Obama offers the second — a plan for raiding Medicare and watching it...

Bicycles instead of cars? Dense apartment clusters instead of single homes? Community rituals instead of churches? "Human rights" instead of religious freedom? The UN Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat II) which met June 3-14 [1996]in Istanbul, painted an alarming picture of the 21st century community. The American ways-free speech, individualism, travel, and Christianity-are out. A new set of economic, environmental, and social guidelines are in. Citizenship, democracy, and education have been redefined. Handpicked civil leaders will implement UN "laws", bypassing state and national representatives to work directly with the UN. And politically correct "tolerance"-meaning "the rejection of dogmatism and absolutism"...

EVERETT – A cat who wandered into the Everett Police Department’s South Precinct parking lot later was killed at the city’s animal shelter, upsetting the animal’s owners. Police have been having problems with neighborhood cats, many feral, urinating on patrol motorcycles, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said. Police asked animal control officers to help trap the cats, he said. One of the cats, Atalanta, was brought to the Everett Animal Shelter on Jan. 28, city spokeswoman Kate Reardon said. The shelter wasn’t able to find the cat’s owner. The animal wasn’t tagged or micro-chipped, she said.

Each of us makes mistakes. Sometimes they're little mistakes, but sometimes they're very big. Sometimes they have serious consequences. Sometimes they are open and obvious for the whole world to see. Or, to paraphrase the Apostle Paul, "Some electorates' sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some electorates they follow after." So it is with the unfortunate decision by the American electorate to choose Barack Obama as our President. This is proving to have been — as many a Cassandra had warned — a big mistake. It's more than just a bit iffy whether the nation's collective wallet...

"The White House tonight is providing the below clarification on what the president's health-care proposals would mean..." "Undocumented immigrants would be able to buy insurance in the non-exchange private market, just as they do today. That market will shrink as the exchange takes hold" but it will still exist and will be subject to reforms such as the bans on pre-existing conditions and caps.

GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: Hello, again. In nine days he will be president of the United States. This morning Barack Obama is our exclusive headliner. Welcome back to THIS WEEK. STEPHANOPOULOS: If both of these packages go through, that's more than a trillion dollars in spending in your first couple of months in office. OBAMA: Right. STEPHANOPOULOS: When you look at the array of things you want to do, as president, something is going to have to give. OBAMA: Right. STEPHANOPOULOS: Let me press you on this, at the end of the day, are you really talking about over the course of...

Some simpletons actually think that the increase in the price of gasoline over the past few years goes directly into the oil company coffers. The fact is that the big American oil companies own relatively little oil in the ground. They have to buy crude oil on the open market in order to have something that they can refine into gasoline, diesel oil, jet fuel, and all of the other oil products. A barrel of crude oil contains 42 gallons and currently costs about $130. That means the raw material costs $3.10 a gallon. For finding the oil, getting it...
