Democratic Pollster Patrick Caddell, who was credited with helping get Jimmy Carter elected president, but also with limiting him to one term, died Saturday from complications of a stroke at his home in Charleston, S.C., The New York Times reports. He was 68. Caddell, a self-taught pollster, was considered instrumental in Carter's victory in 1976, but he also persuaded the president to make the speech that became known as the "malaise" speech that branded him as weak and ended up costing him the 1980 election to Republican Ronald Reagan.

“It is frightening how people’s lives are damaged, I mean, are thrown away,” stated Caddell. “Everybody is roadkill when it comes to their desire to succeed in their goal, which is to beat Kavanaugh, whether it destroys him, his family, whatever — whether the charges are real or spurious. … [This will cause] people to not want to be in public life. Who wants this done to them? All in the name of a political goal.” Caddell described Senate Republicans as acquiescing to partisan pressures from Democrats and Democrats’ news media allies. Caddell The Republicans in the Senate should have...

During Sunday’s “The Cats Roundtable” on New York AM 970 radio, pollster and political analyst Pat Caddell weighed in on the 2018 midterm elections and said it was pretty obvious Democrats would “make an effort to impeach” President Donald Trump if they took the House. “I’m not sure this is an ordinary midterm, any more than 2016 was an ordinary presidential election. I believe we have yet to see this election engaged,” Caddell told host John Catsimatidis. “And it should be a national election. It will be nationalized. One of the issues is going to be impeachment. I don’t think...

It was anything but.” He went on to call out the media for pursuing a political agenda, as opposed to the truth, saying that media today is actually “a danger to democracy.”

Longtime Democrat pollster and analyst Pat Caddell talked with Breitbart News Daily SiriusXM host Alex Marlow on Friday about his thoughts and observations on President Donald’s Trump’s first 100 days in office, as well as the recent performance of both major parties. Asked what kind of a “letter grade” he would give Trump for his first 100 days, Caddell said, “I would give him a C+, which is not great, but that’s okay because I give the Democrats and Republicans Fs and F-s. And I give the press, as you might have guessed, a letter that doesn’t exist.”

Caddell also discussed Trump’s victory in November and its impact on Washington. Said Caddell regarding concerns he had immediately after Trump’s win, “The great concern for the Trump administration is that it’s a Trump White House but is this going to be a Ryan government?” “Is this going to be,” he added, “where they use him to impose what they want to do rather than supporting what he got elected to do?” Caddell said he still worries about that and believe events unfolding around the healthcare bill are an example of that.

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: Now, let's move on to 1980. This Indiana poll, I don't want to get ahead of myself here. But I have to tell you -- and I know it's Indiana, but Monmouth, they're at the top of the poll in terms of respect and credibility in this particular polling season. I don't know. Maybe some of you expected to see a state poll with Trump up by 11 a week out, but I didn't. And I will guarantee you the Hillary camp didn't expect to see it. And they may try say, "Well, of course. For more than two years the American people, in a great majority, from left to right, have been in revolt against the political class and the financial elites in America. It is a revolt with historic parallels, most closely resembling the Jacksonian revolution of the 1820s. It is an uprising. It is a peaceful uprising of a people who see a country in decline and see nothing but failure in the performance of their leadership institutions. And they have signaled their intent to take back their country and to reclaim their sovereignty. ADVERTISEMENT Unfortunately, the analysts, the pollsters and most...
