Phoenix, AZ (April 15) – Republican U.S. Senate Candidate J.D. Hayworth (R-AZ) today released the names of individuals and groups that contributed to the Freedom in Truth Trust (FIT Trust), an entity created to defray costs of a Department of Justice (DOJ) inquiry that fully vindicated the former congressman. “People were kind and generous enough to contribute a total of $152,130.42 to this trust to pay lawyers who worked with the DOJ to make clear what I already knew – these were trumped up political charges with no basis in fact,” Hayworth said. “I am more than willing to provide...

Phoenix, AZ (April 14) – Republican U.S. Senate candidate J.D. Hayworth stated today that he is taking John McCain at his word to debate “anywhere, anytime” and challenged the incumbent to meet him for the first two of what Hayworth hopes will be debates in all 15 Arizona counties. Mohave County and Pinal County Republicans offered the first two debates: Saturday, May 22 in Kingman and Tuesday, June 2 in Coolidge. “I’m pleased the Senator has finally agreed to join me on stage to discuss the important issues of the day,” Hayworth said. “These debates will give Arizona voters the...

U.S. Sen. John McCain is blasting his challenger J.D. Hayworth, saying he’s mischaracterized his record to score political points in the wake of the murder of a Douglas rancher over the weekend. Former Congressman Hayworth is blasting back, meanwhile, saying McCain’s record on immigration is out of step with what Arizona wants. Speaking on a Phoenix broadcast station about the case of Robert Krentz, who was believed to have been shot and killed by an illegal immigrant, Hayworth said he has long advocated for a military presence on the border while McCain worked on an “amnesty bill” with former U.S....

John McCain spent more in the last three months than he did the entire 2004 cycle. His campaign announced Wednesday that it raised $2.2 million this quarter and now has $4.5 million cash on hand. The Arizona senator came into 2010 with $5.05 million banked, which means he's spent $2.75 million in the last three months. In 2004, McCain ran unopposed in the GOP primary and spent $2.1 million defeating a poorly funded Democratic opponent in the general. J.D. Hayworth, McCain's primary challenger, hasn't yet released his numbers but a spokesman said they were "pleased" with the figures.

(CNN) – Sen. John McCain is not letting the memory of Sarah Palin's recent visit to Arizona slip away. In fact, McCain is highlighting the former Alaska governor's two campaign stops in a new, fast moving Web video that promotes her support for his Senate re-election bid. McCain's campaign released a 1 minute and 37 second video Monday of Palin and McCain on the campaign trail – bringing back memories of their 2008 White House bid. Now, McCain is facing a primary challenge from former Rep. J.D. Hayworth, who claims the Arizona senator is not conservative enough.

As the former running mates prepare to campaign together for the first time since 2008, sources familiar with them say they have chatty, personal phone calls and remain friendly even though Palin attacked many of McCain’s loyal staffers. This weekend John McCain and Sarah Palin are bringing the band back together and hitting the road in support of the Arizona senator’s reelection battle. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) seemed Tuesday night to back off his threat that Republicans wouldn't cooperate with Democrats the rest of this year. McCain, who's drawn heavy criticism from Senate Democrats and members of the Obama administration for his remarks, said that the GOP would partner with Democrats on issues in the "national interest." "Look, let me just clarify that," McCain said of his previous remarks during an appearance on Fox News. "If it's in the national interest and there's something that requires us to work together -- a national emergency, something that we think will help the country --...

Joe the Plumber is set to crash John McCain's reunion with Sarah Palin. Samuel "Joe" Wurzelbacher, who recently said McCain "screwed my life up," is slated to appear along with J.D. Hayworth at an anti-tax rally in Phoenix on Friday. Meanwhile in Tucson, McCain will reunite at a rally with the former Alaska governor. Wurzelbacher has made it clear he has a bone to pick with the 2008 GOP presidential ticket. "McCain was trying to use me," he said in a radio interview last month. "I happened to be the face of middle Americans. It was a ploy."

Anyone paying attention knows that John McCain has been a Big-Government Globalist Neocon (BGGN) for virtually his entire senatorial career. As with many BGGNs hiding out in the Republican Party, McCain likes to talk about smaller government, but his track record is littered with the promotion of one big government program after another. But, what else would one expect from a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR)? Lately, however, McCain has outdone himself. He has introduced two bills in the US Senate that are about as Machiavellian as they could be. I am referring to S.3081, a bill...

Longtime incumbent John McCain now leads conservative challenger J.D. Hayworth by just seven points in Arizona’s hotly contested Republican Senate Primary race. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely Arizona GOP Primary voters shows McCain ahead 48% to 41%. Three percent (3%) favor another candidate, and eight percent (8%) are undecided. Following the announcement that Sarah Palin would campaign for his reelection, McCain opened up a 53% to 31% lead over Hayworth in January. The two men were in a near tie in November. But now Hayworth, a former congressman turned popular local talk radio host, is a formal...

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) may be working with the White House to craft an immigration reform proposal, but you wouldn't know it from his comments Sunday morning. The South Carolina Republican had no kind words for the president's efforts on the topic, accusing him of ignoring immigration and paying lip service only for temporary political reasons. Graham laughed off the president's claim that he's been "unwavering" in his support for immigration overhaul. "This idea that the president has been unwavering on immigration doesn't really pass the smell test," Graham said on ABC's "This Week." Graham, who has been invited to...

Sen. John McCain's campaign is calling on his primary challenger to disavow the backing of an anti-illegal immigration group that permits the use of terms such as "wetbacks" and "pepper bellies" – derisive epithets sometimes used for immigrants – on its website. "Let's be clear: Congressman [J.D.] Hayworth's continued flirtation with extreme groups that condone racism only opens the door for liberals to falsely paint all opponents of illegal immigration as bigots. Congressman Hayworth should immediately disavow this group’s support and commit to never again associating himself with groups that accept this kind of hateful and counterproductive rhetoric," McCain campaign...

Washington -- Senators have reached an agreement on more modest dietary supplement safeguards that would make it easier to crackdown on products that could hurt people. The move comes only a few days after Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz, stepped away from a tougher bill because of the concerns expressed by Sen. Orrin Hatch, who is a major supporter of the dietary supplement industry, one of Utah's biggest sectors. McCain and his co-sponsor Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., announced the agreement in a letter sent to Hatch, R-Utah, and two other supplement supporters, Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, and Sen. Mike Enzi, R-Wyo....

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is helping out her former running mate with a high dollar fundraiser at the Arizona Biltmore. Palin will be courting contributions for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) – the GOP’s 2008 presidential nominee – on March 23 as part of her swing through Arizona to aide his re-election campaign. For $2,500, McCain donors can attend an hour-long reception with the former GOP vice presidential nominee and get a chance for a picture with Palin. Those not attending the reception can pay $500 each for a two-hour dinner, or $1,000 for preferred seating. Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.),...
