Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.) needled fellow Republican Sen. Mitt Romney (Utah) in an op-ed in The Washington Post on Friday, arguing that the GOP doesn't need "more distractions." "The mainstream media and Democrats want to further divide Republicans, and now Romney has played right into their hands," Perdue wrote. "Jeff Flake (Ariz.) filled that role before his retirement; the last thing we need now in the Senate is a Jeff Flake on steroids. We certainly don’t need more distractions. We need constructive leaders who want to get things done." Perdue invoked Flake, a vocal critic of President Trump who retired...

Why couldn’t you have kept your powder dry rather than virtue-signal to leftists who’ll never love you any more than they did Sen. John McCain? Are you so consumed with distaste for Trump that you are blind to the Democrats’ far worse partisanship and divisiveness? Are you really unaware of the Democrats’ stated intentions to wage political war against Trump for the next two years or until they run him out of office? Do you not see that enabling the Democrats in this way could help to advance their nightmarish agenda? Which will you oppose more, Trump’s bad manners or...

Arriving in Washington for his new gig as Utah's junior senator, Mitt Romney jumped right in to revert to form, putting out a Washington Post attack op-ed decrying President Trump's lack of "character" and calling on Republicans to reach across the aisle. Gad, his act is old. Here Trump has given us the best economy in decades, and Mitt has almost nothing to say about it other than that he agrees with it. Trump also never wavered on the appointment of Supreme Court justice Brett Kavanaugh and has fought like a lion to get more constitutionally minded judges appointed. Trump...

Utah Sen.-elect Mitt Romney signaled he may focus on climate change when he's sworn in in January. In a brief interview with E&E News yesterday, the former Republican presidential nominee said he sees climate change as a "critical area." ....snip Last year, Romney told college students in St. Louis that he was "concerned about the anti-scientific attitude" expressed by some of his Republican colleagues and that he was convinced humanity has played a part in global warming (Climatewire, Oct. 3). "I happen to believe that there is climate change, and I think humans contribute to it in a substantial way,...

Despite his sharp criticism of the president during the 2016 campaign, Mitt Romney over the weekend denied he led the "never Trump" movement among conservatives. Romney, the 2012 GOP presidential nominee who is currently running for a Senate seat in Utah, said that while Trump was not the candidate he wanted, he supports many of the president’s policies.

After 42 years, it is time Utah changes up senators. When incumbent Sen. Orrin Hatch was elected to his seventh term in 2012, he vowed it would be his last. Recently, however, the 83-year-old told KUTV he will run again—unless his friend Mitt Romney calls him and says he would like to run. Then Hatch would step aside. Here are seven reasons Romney should take Hatch up on that offer. 1. Gives Utah Time to Find a Long-term Solution According to The Salt Lake Tribune, 75 percent of voters said Hatch should not run again. By 2024, he would be...

Marco Rubio (R-FL), in a final effort to defeat Donald Trump after the billionaire took early states in New Hampshire and South Carolina by storm. At least one House Republican thinks Mitt Romney will make another run for the White House in 2016 — and this time, he says the 2012 runner-up will emerge victorious. “I think he actually is gonna run for president. He probably doesn’t want me to say that,” Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) told host Chris Matthews on MSNBC’s “Hardball” on Monday. Chaffetz also backed the former Massachusetts governor early in the GOP nomination process for 2012. “A hundred times he says he’s not, but Mitt Romney has always accomplished what he’s set out to do. I think he’s proven right on...

Kerry Bentivolio (R-Mich.), the latest big-name Republican to weigh in on Trott's behalf. "As someone who grew up in Michigan and has family currently living in the 11th District, I am confident that Dave Trott has the honesty, integrity and experience we need in Washington," Romney said in a statement released by Trott's campaign. "As a job-creator, Dave Trott knows how to balance budgets, cut spending, and fix the mess in Washington. I am proud to endorse Dave Trott for Congress."

Here's the dilemma: Talk radio and other parts of the 'conservative' media started defending Mitt Rmoney several weeks ago. IIRC, the first 'defense' was actually made to protect Ann Romney from the "stay-at-home" charge. So, Rush and Co. are now promoting Rmoney, after they first dismissed him, then they defended him. I will vote for neither Rmoney or Obama. I will "wait and see" (WAS). I will vote "none of the above" (NOTA). If Rmoney wins AND governs as a conservative for four years, THEN I'll vote to re-elect him in 2016. Not before. (Another Freeper mentioned this exact strategy...
