The BBC’s modern reworking of Great Expectations has suffered a ratings flop, losing nearly 3 million viewers since the first episode aired last month. Steven Knight’s adaptation, which stars Olivia Colman as Miss Havisham and Fionn Whitehead as Pip, has been mired in controversy over accusations of wokery and the inclusion of opium addiction and sadomasochism. Episode one pulled in 4.4 million viewers, reaching a peak of 5.5 million, but 1.8 million had switched off by episode two. Last week’s penultimate episode only managed to draw in 1.5 million, some 2.9 million down on the first instalment.

When the Covid-19 vaccine came out earlier this year, Bob, who also goes by the sobriquet Mannish Boy, was on the fence about getting it. He was wary about the speed at which the vaccine came to market, and he’d heard about preliminary data suggesting the AstraZeneca version in Europe had a rare side effect of inducing blood clots, which made him anxious. “I think I had the same reservations that many people had,” Bob, who requested that his last name be withheld to protect his privacy, tells Rolling Stone. Then Bob saw a tweet from Goddess Alexandra Snow, a...

The FBI raided the home of Nancy Salzman, the co-founder of NXIVM. It's all part of an ongoing federal investigation into the organization and its secret society. Raniere had been detained earlier this week on charges of U.S. sex trafficking and forced labour in Mexico, where authorities allege he was hiding out in a luxury villa in the company of several women followers.

According to court documents, (Officer Don) Allen created a posting on Craigslist under the personal ads. “The suspects responded to the ad and arranged to meet with the victim,” a Texas Ranger stated in the affidavit. The documents go on to reveal “the suspects insisted the victim used an alias during their contact with him.” KTXS viewed the ad before its removal from the site on Monday and deemed it to be too explicit for publication... "Electronic evidence, which we believe will more definitively reveal the nature of the relationship, is still being processed at the Department of Public Safety...

Like Fifty Shades of Grey's Anastasia Steele, Sam Taylor-Johnson was a wide-eyed innocent—she'd directed only one feature, 2009 indie Nowhere Boy—when she got hired to direct the much-anticipated big-screen adaptation of EL James' phenomenally successful erotic novel. But during an 18-month whirlwind ride, Taylor-Johnson explored the world of S&M, overcame casting troubles (Dakota Johnson stars opposite Irish actor Jamie Dornan, who replaced Charlie Hunnam) and endured daily battles with the book's highly opinionated author. Ahead of the film's Feb. 11 premiere at Berlinale, the 47-year-old British director and mother of four (she's married to actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson) reveals all the...

Background: Hollywood executives have chosen to release the film version of the "erotic" novel 50 Shades of Grey in theaters this Valentine's Day - Feb. 14, 2015. While the marketing campaign is selling the movie as a "romance," there is nothing authentically romantic about the tale of a sado-masochistic sexual relationship between a young, vulnerable student, Anastasia, and an older billionaire, Christian Grey. Critics have described the book as misogynistic, pornographic, exploitative, sexually violent, and anti-romance – and there is little reason to expect the film will be anything different. Opposition to the book and movie crosses the ideological spectrum,...

The Fremont Unified school board held off on adopting "Your Health Today" after parents complained that its presentation of frank sexual topics was unfit for teaching ninth-grade students. The majority of the nearly 60 speakers said they opposed using "Your Health Today" and objected to chapters that discuss prostitution, bondage, pornography and other frank sexual education topics. About two-thirds of the audience waved yellow signs that read, "Remove College Textbook." Others who favor adopting the new textbook waved green signs that read, "I support comprehensive sex education." The controversy started June 25, when Fremont school board members voted 3-2 to...

Two more investigative videos from pro-life organization Live Action show Planned Parenthood facilities in Denver, Colorado offering disturbing and dangerous advice to what staffers think are underage girls. The counselors lay out in graphic detail a spectrum of sadistic sexual behaviors to the investigators, including "whipping," "tying up," and "asphyxiation." As one of the Live Action videos shows, a gruesome crime involving asphyxiation recently captured media interest. Police discovered 16-year-old Jessica Burlew this past January with the corpse of 43-year-old Jason Ash, whom Burlew had strangled to death and mutilated with razor blades in the midst of "a sex game." "Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains...

TORONTO, March 11, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The thin veneer of Toronto’s annual homosexual parade, ostensibly promoted as "family friendly," has been further chipped away by a mainstream media columnist who insists that “in-your-face sexuality is the point of the damn thing." "Ultimately, there are worse things than seeing a penis flopping down Yonge Street," Canada.com News Editor Lauren Strapagiel wrote in an article attacking the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) trustees who raised questions about the legality of public nudity at the pride parade. The Toronto District School Board's float at the annual Pride parade. Strapagiel called the trustees' concern...

Planned Parenthood of Northern New England (PPNNE)--which received more than $2.75 million in government funding in 2012--has produced and posted online a video specifically aimed at teenagers that promotes bondage and sadomasochism (BDSM) and proposes "rules" to follow when engaging in these activities. “People sometimes think that those who practice BDSM are emotionally scarred or were once abused—not true, it’s a total myth," the host of the video, Laci Green, informs its intended audience of teens. "BDSM relies upon and creates trust," she says. In a message published at the beginning of PPNNE´s 2012 annual report, PPNNE President Meagan Gallagher

2013 is the 150th anniversary of the publication of the book Utilitarianism, by the British philosopher John Stuart Mill...This week: what sado-masochists are getting up to at Harvard. Utilitarianism is a broad church which admits parishioners of varying persuasions and degrees of fervour. But there are two pillars to which all subscribe, one for society and the other for individuals. The first is the famous maxim, “the greatest good for the greatest number”. John Stuart Mill modified this primitive calculus of pleasure and pain to take into account the pleasures of the intellect. In his well-known words, "it is better...

A female Florida sheriff's deputy handcuffed naked girls to a desk, spanked them with a leather paddle and sent the seamy homemade videos to a boyfriend she met on a fetish web site, authorities said. Robin Leigh Pagoria, 45, subjected her two victims - described as girls between the ages of 10 and 18 - to multiple torture sessions, authorities said. "There aren't words to describe my anger with her," Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told the Orlando Sentinel, adding that the arrest "came out of nowhere." Pagoria, a divorced Marine veteran, shackled the girls' wrists and ankles to a...

It must be wonderful to be anything other than Caucasian in a country run by moonbats. No matter how irresponsibly you behave, the race card can be applied to any conceivable jam you might get yourself into. For example, tenured English professor Lisa Chávez involved students in her dominatrix business. If you object then you're a racist: Life has become extremely complex in the University of New Mexico's English department in the three years since Lisa D. Chávez, a tenured associate professor, was discovered moonlighting as the phone-sex dominatrix "Mistress Jade," and posing in promotional pictures sexually dominating one of...

As one of the most highly regarded lawyers in the City, Neil Fagan has spent decades advising clients about risk. But when it comes to his own personal life, the married father-of-three was a little less cautious. Yesterday a criminal court heard how the top lawyer was attacked by a woman with a champagne glass during a drug-fuelled sadomasochistic sex session at an exclusive London hotel. Staff alerted to the sound of screaming at the Waldorf Hilton Hotel found the 61-year-old former partner in leading law firm Hogan Lovells wearing only a tiny leather thong, nipple clamps, other sexual paraphenalia,...
