Gascón ally calls the actions "symbolic, pointless, and partisan attempts to aid a floundering recall effort.”. As organizers of an effort to recall Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón say they are working closely with county officials to finalize the petition, three more cities declared “no confidence” in the progressive prosecutor this week. “City leaders are beginning to see what citizens and victims have known: George Gascon threatens the safety of our communities with his pro-criminal policies and actions,” read an email blast from Victims of Violent Crime for the Recall of District Attorney Gascón. “Together, we can recall...

No matter how you slice it, what happened in last week’s special election for California’s 25th Congressional District was not good for Democrats. In resounding fashion, Democratic hopeful Christy Smith, a state assemblywoman from Santa Clarita, was beaten by Republican defense industry executive Mike Garcia. While ballots are still being counted in what was an almost all-mail-in election, recent tallies had Garcia, a Trump endorsee, trouncing Smith by a double-digit margin .... Smith conceded quickly. There are the coronavirus caveats. Stay-at-home orders meant low turnout, which favored Garcia: older, whiter, and more-affluent voters tend to vote by mail already and...

he younger brother of former Democratic Rep. Katie Hill has been found dead in his Southern California home. Hill — who resigned from Congress last year — remembered her brother Daniel Brett Bennett on Sunday as a young man with “so much promise.” “Yesterday my brother Danny – a young man who overcame so much in his short life with so much promise ahead – passed away,” Hill wrote. “My heart is breaking & I’ll miss him forever. Prayers for our family in this impossibly difficult time would be appreciated.” Bennett, 20, was found unresponsive at his home in Santa...

Just a coincidence, no doubt. – So, with their corrupt media cohorts struggling to spin their disastrous first day of impeachment circus hearings to their advantage, the Democrats were desperate all Thursday morning to change the narrative. There were no bombshells in the testimony of either Bill Taylor or the dapper dandy George Kent, no revelations of anything resembling impeachable behavior by President Donald Trump, nothing for anyone in the Democrat/media/deep state Axis of Disinformation to hang their rhetorical hats on. As a result, it was a very slow news morning for America for once. And then it all magically...

While I attended a speaking engagement in Northern California—really Northern, as in Siskiyou County, the heart of the original resistance against Sacramento’s lawlessness—fellow Southern California patriots were continuing their fight against the SB 54, aka the infamous Sanctuary State law. Jurisdictions throughout California have gone on record opposing the law, filing lawsuits or amicus curiae briefs with the Department of Justice, or outright overriding the law through resolutions and ordinances. Sadly, my home city of Torrance and the entire County of Los Angeles County have remained stalwart against the movement. The city of San Dimas (home of Bill and Ted—righteous!)...

The backlash against a new California law that protects immigrants continued in Santa Clarita as the City Council voted to formally oppose the so-called sanctuary law and file a brief in support of the Trump administration's lawsuit against the state. With the 5-0 vote early Wednesday morning, Santa Clarita became what is believed to be the first city in Los Angeles County to officially oppose Senate Bill 54, joining a handful of municipalities elsewhere in Southern California that have challenged the law since Gov. Jerry Brown signed it in October. The council chamber was packed Tuesday night, with people standing...

VICTORVILLE • A controversial proposal to give federal land north of Victorville to Cemex in hopes of ending a 12-year dispute over mining in Santa Clarita is back before the City Council Tuesday night.Rep. Howard "Buck" McKeon, R-Santa Clarita, first introduced the Soledad Canyon Mine Act in 2008 and then again in 2009. The bills aimed to give 10,600 acres of Bureau of Land Management property north of Victorville to cement producer Cemex USA. In exchange, the company would agree to a band on its rights to mine gravel in Soledad Canyon, where residents have been protesting the impact on...

SANTA CLARITA, Nov. 3, 2007 - When arson investigators went looking for the person who set a blaze that scorched 60 square miles and destroyed 21 homes, Linda Conner says she knew right where to send them. Minutes after the fire broke out, Conner said, she had raced up a hill toward the source of the flames. At the top, she saw a stunned-looking 10-year-old boy and his parents frantically trying to beat the flames down with towels. "There's no reason to talk to other people," Conner, a horse trainer at the ranch where the fire started, recalled telling arson...

Former "blogging pedophile" Jack McClellan has been released from jail, following his arrest last week for violating a restraining order in California. His release follows the prediction of observers in law enforcement, child advocacy, and the judicial system who think it will be difficult to take effective or even constitutional steps against McClellan to protect children. The 45-year-old self-professed pedophile was arrested August 13 for violating a three-year restraining order that required him to stay 30 feet away from all children. He was being held in jail with a $150,000 bail bond. But according to Associated Press, he was released...

SANTA CLARITA -- A brush fire erupted Monday in semi-rural northern Los Angeles County as hot and windy weather made conditions dangerous. The blaze was reported at 10:41 a.m. in Placerita Canyon and the initial estimate of five acres was quickly outdated. "It's bigger than that," said county fire Inspector Ed Lozano. The fire was moving from light grasses into medium brush, and five fire engines were requested for structure protection in the area, an eastern area of the city of Santa Clarita adjacent to the Angeles National Forest.

SANTA CLARITA - A fleet of tow trucks and a dozen patrol cars worked what looked at first glance to be a major traffic accident, but actually was preventive work, aimed at getting society's most dangerous drivers off the road. The sheriff's deputies, tow jockeys and volunteers were gunning for unlicensed drivers, often wanted for leaving the scenes of accidents. "The number of hit-and-run collisions increases dramatically when there are a high number of unlicensed drivers on the road," traffic Deputy Anthony Arnold said. "People are afraid to stop when they hit someone or something because they're afraid they'll get...

SANTA CLARITA -- A hastily formed organization advocating the separation of church and state admonished Mayor Cameron Smyth for lending use of his title to a prayer breakfast to be sponsored today by a Christian men's group headed by a conservative Republican activist. "I am charging Cameron Smyth with misuse of his official title of mayor," Bruce McFarland told the City Council on Tuesday. McFarland is a member of Santa Clarita for Separation of Church and State, formed earlier this week as Smyth prepared to attend the Mayor's Prayer Breakfast sponsored by The Dunamis Group. "The title and honor of...
