I’m especially intrigued by the “Request an Event” feature; neither Huckabee’s nor Romney’s website has a section like that. Politico speculates that it’s her way of better organizing her speaking invitations, but major institutions aren’t going to reach out via a web interface. Sarah Palin rolled out a new website for her PAC on Monday with significantly more content and features, along with a vehicle for Palin to start gathering email addresses and information from her supporters. The new site, sarahpac.com, is a necessary step if Palin intends to run for president and for the first time gives her organization the ability to interact with her supporters by providing a centralized location to collect data and solicit donations. Sarah Palin gave at least $507,000 to candidates and political causes in 2010 as she earned a reputation as kingmaker and raised her profile ahead of a possible presidential run. The biggest chunk of that money, about $306,500, was doled out in the month leading to the Nov. 2 general election by her political action committee, SarahPAC, filings with the Federal Election Commission show. A new financial report filed Sunday evening showed Sarah Palin’s political action committee has taken its fundraising to a higher level – and suggests that she has begun building a more sophisticated political operation in place of a bare-bones organization powered mostly by her rock star status and scrappy on-line presence. Former Gov. Sarah Palin is settling an ethics complaint by agreeing to return more than $386,000 collected in a legal defense fund before she resigned last summer. The settlement, between Palin and the Alaska Personnel Board, was announced this afternoon. An investigator for the board, Timothy Petumenos, said today that the fund was illegal because it inappropriately used the word "official" on its website, wrongly implying Palin's endorsement as governor.
