As Sean said on his radio show, Stewart et al seriously invested in this comedy bit. A video of libs begging Sean to stay - including an actual Broadway star number. http://m.comedycentral.com/tds_video.rbml?id=sean-of-the-fled---stay-mr--hannity--stay Sean was flattered. Of course it just reassures the Stewart audience that Sean Hannity and all conservatives are evil racist intolerant bigots while the audience remains so very tolerant.
  • Report: Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh could be moving radio homes (Fox quotes Politico?)

Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh may be setting up shop at new radio stations in the near future. According to a report on Politico.com, Cumulus Media is planning on dropping both talk show hosts at the end of the year. If Cumulus goes through with their plans, that means the nation’s top two conservative radio personalities would be removed from more than 40 stations. The company declined comment to the political website. "Cumulus is not in a position to comment about negotiations with talent under contract, no matter what the rumor of the day might be," a rep said. Sources...
  • Mark Levin blasts ‘transgendering’ ‘snaggletooth’ ‘troll’ Michael Savage (w/ Video)

On his radio show Thursday night, conservative talker Mark Levin scorched his former radio competitor Michael Savage for attacking fellow conservative talkers. The feud seemed to cool off after Savage, who used to go head-to-head against Levin in the 6 p.m. EST time slot, left the Talk Radio Network and was picked up by Cumulus, the same company that distributes Levin’s show. Savage now hosts the time slot following Levin’s, from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. EST. But in January the fight was reignited, with the two trading shots over the airwaves. In this latest chapter of the saga, Levin...

It was a set up. From start to finish. A quite specific, quite detailed plot to get Rush Limbaugh, ruin his career, and drive him off the air. Next targets? Sean Hannity and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Lots to cover here. Let's start with Mr. Angelo Carusone. Who is Angelo Carusone? Today he is now the "Director of Online Strategy for Media Matters for America." But a few years back? He was just your basic left-wing law student with a standard left-wing passion. That passion? Totalitarian-style censorship.
  • Sean Hannity And John McCain Battle Over Senator’s Anti-Tea Party Remarks

Sen. John McCain ruffled America’s already disheveled political feathers today with a Senate floor rant mocking the Tea Party’s position on the debt ceiling debate comparing them to hobbits and disparaging them for turning Sharron Angle and Christine O’Donnell into Republican nominees. Unsurprisingly, Sean Hannity had a bone to pick with the senator tonight on those comments, and on his opinion that the Republicans will get the blame for a debt default if they do not compromise. Hannity came out swinging at Sen. McCain, wondering why the senator had turned on the Tea Party– “why not attack the President?” Sen....

Challenger Bielat Holds His Own Against U.S. Rep. FrankBy Fred Thys Oct 12, 2010, 6:55 AM UPDATED 9:23 AM NEWTON, Mass. — Rep. Barney Frank faced his Republican challenger Monday night in their only televised debate. It was the first chance for the challenger, Marine reservist Sean Bielat, to show he could survive going on television against the congressman famous for his way with words. Democrat Frank came armed with his usual wit. For instance, he dismissed New York Republican candidate for governor Carl Paladino as a horse’s behind for saying that “children are being brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality...

Debbie Schlussel posted a long piece last evening about a charity that Sean Hannity is affiliated with, accusing them of malfeasance and mismangement. FrumForum has done an exhaustive investigation of the charity in question, Freedom Alliance, and found enough evidence to substantially rebut each of Schlussel’s claims. I’ll approach them one by one.

Tim Mak at FrumForum is debunking each of Debbie Schlussel's allegations against Sean Hannity and Freedom Alliance. Schlussel has been unreliable in the past, and in retrospect I should have approached her report with more skepticism (the lede sentence on my post this morning -- "This is disgusting" -- should have been something more like "If this is true, it's disgusting"). I apologize to Hannity, and (much more importantly) to our readers.

You can add Sean Penn to the long list of people who have been called out by Ozzie Guillen. The outspoken White Sox manager called Penn a "payaso" (clown) and "izquierdista estupido" (stupid leftist) on Twitter Friday for his praise of controversial Venezuela President Hugo Chavez. "Oh my God, Sean Penn defended our President Hugo Chavez," Guillen, a Venezuela native, tweeted. "That's easy when you [don't] live in Venezuela and have money. LOL...shame on [you]." Penn appeared on HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher" last week and was asked why he continues to defend Chavez. "Every day this elected leader...
  • Sean Penn To Be Charged With Battery, Prosecutor Says

LOS ANGELES (February 19, 2010)—The Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office says actor Sean Penn faces battery and vandalism charges stemming from an altercation with a photographer in Brentwood last fall. Spokesman Frank Mateljan said the two misdemeanor counts would probably be filed later Friday. A phone message left for Penn's attorney, Barry Hirsch, was not immediately returned. Mateljan said Penn kicked a photographer during a dustup in October in which the photographer's camera was damaged. If convicted, Penn could face as much as 18 months in jail.

Sorry for the poor quality of the water rally. I didn’t bring a tripod and it’s off VHS tape on a handheld camera. These clips show things you didn’t see on YouTube or on FOX. Everyone’s seen their footang and the crowd. This is how the event was set up and shows the work that went into it. The Bay Area took center stage at the Oscars when Sean Penn was honored for his performance in "Milk." Not only did the story of the former San Francisco supervisor put the Bay Area in the middle of the show but Bay Area resident, Penn, used his acceptance speech as an opportunity to dig into California politics and a hotbed Bay Area issue. In case you missed it, check out his speech below. Or for more on Penn's speech, check out Penn Pleas for Gay Rights, Rourke at Oscars.

Sean Penn's best actor award: a real high point It might not have been enough to redeem what came before for some viewers, but Sean Penn's award as best actor brought a moment of real emotion to the Oscars telecast last night. He won for his portrayal of gay rights activist Harvey Milk, and he used the platform to speak out for equality. Penn started his remarks with humor, addressing the Hollywood audience as "Commie, homo loving sons of guns." But by the end of his speech, he was castigating those who oppose gay marriage and telling them they will...
