BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. — As the race for U.S. Senate, governor and agriculture commissioner appear to be headed to recounts, a strange anomaly has surfaced. In Broward county, Senate undervotes appear on nearly 4 percent of all ballots. That’s ballots where a vote was not counted for U.S. Senate, despite votes being cast in other races. What makes the anomaly even stranger, is that it appeared in a county that Democratic incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum desperately needed to score well in. A WESH 2 News analysis of votes cast in various races, shows 701,469...

Florida has turned from purple to red. For the first time since Reconstruction, Republicans will hold every statewide office assuming Gov. Rick Scott’s narrow lead over incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson holds up in an expected recount. Wins by Scott and former U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis in the governor’s race complete the Republicans’ complete domination of what was once a swing state. And the biggest winner is President Donald Trump, who carried the state two years ago and campaigned hard for Scott and DeSantis. Scott and DeSantis won Tuesday by portraying their opponents as too out of touch, too...

Riddle me this AP and company... Arizona...If there has been 1.7 million ballots counted, which represents 99% reporting, how can there be 600,000 ballots, in Arizona,jo left to be counted? Arizona does not have a very large population. If that is truly what is happening in AZ, then how can most of the Nationwide contest be called? Surely the larger states with greater populations must have somewhere north of 1 million ballots uncounted. AP, are you trying to divide and conquer? Make the sheeple believe there are 600,000 votes still to be counted, until just enough votes can be manufactured?...

I listened to PDJT’s press conference on the radio yesterday. Absent all the visual theatrics I concentrated only on the verbal back and forths. I must say, the President is getting better – much better in my opinion - at handling the group of rabid hyenas that pursues him. While I’ve enjoyed all of his earlier pressers, he did have a tendency to get drawn offsides too easily by the militant hecklers posing as journalists. He’s grown much better at batting back their bleating. Case in point, Mr. Acosta’s boorish antics that resulted in the suspension of his White House...

As word trickled out Tuesday night that Democrats had recaptured the House, likely Democratic Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California wasted no time in celebrating the moment. “Tomorrow will be a new day in America,” she proclaimed. But beyond Pelosi’s soaring rhetoric is a harsh political reality: the power to shape the country no longer rests in the House. Instead, the waning influence of America’s legislature is concentrated in the Senate. And unless Democrats can take back the upper chamber, Tuesday’s victory is nothing but political fool’s gold. Here’s why. Most Americans know how Washington, D.C. is supposed to work, with...

In his first two years in office, President Donald Trump has moved to appoint dozens of conservative judges to the federal bench, moving faster than any president since at least Ronald Reagan. On top of two Supreme Court justices, Trump has appointed 29 judges to U.S. appeals courts across the country, according to a Reuters tally. The appointments, Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell has said, are his "top priority." Now, unleashed by a decisive Republican victory in the Senate in Tuesday's midterm elections, the president's ability to shape the ideological makeup of the federal judiciary has only increased. To be...

On Saturday, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley released a 400-page report detailing the Senate’s investigation of the numerous charges leveled against Justice Brett Kavanaugh in the eleventh hour of his confirmation process. While it repeated many previously known facts, the report included several new tidbits that further expose the fraudulent nature of the claims of sexual misconduct. Here are the top seven takeaways.

Agency theory is a way to explain the relationship between a principal and an agent. In a perfect world, the agent works in the principal’s best interest. In the real world, the agent works on behalf of the agent. Understanding agency theory in personal relationships, in the workplace, and in politics may help resolve issues created by unaligned goals or different levels of risk aversion. Finance students learn agency theory to help them understand the conflicts between the expectations of principals (stockholders) and the desires of agents (company executives). Politics, if nothing else, is agency theory on steroids.

Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) is the projected winner in Montana, surviving a race that tightened in the final weeks amid heavy campaigning by President Trump and his eldest son, Donald Trump, Jr. Tester, a third-generation farmer from north central Montana, ran on his record and did not invite any prominent Democratic politicians to campaign for him in an effort to keep the focus on him and his opponent, Matt Rosendale, a Maryland transplant who moved to the state in 2002.

Florida Democrat Sen. Bill Nelson called Wednesday for a recount in his race for re-election against Republican Gov. Rick Scott. In a statement from Nelson's office, the longtime incumbent said Scott had prematurely declared victory in the race, which CNN has not yet called. In Florida, an automatic recount is triggered when the final margin is less than .5% and is not triggered by candidate requests. Votes were still being counted Wednesday morning, but Scott's lead was within that margin, according to CNN projections. The initial vote count won't be finalized until Saturday at noon.

MIXED President Trump The bottom line: The president’s party lost its majority in the House of Representatives. That is a hugely significant development. It's not just a wound to political pride. It brings with it the specter of ongoing turmoil. Democrats will now take over House committees and, crucially, gain the ability to subpoena whomever they wish. That could spell real trouble for Trump, his administration and even his business associates. But it could have been much, much worse. Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas) O’Rourke was unquestionably the breakout liberal star of the midterm cycle. His bid to unseat incumbent Sen....

It was supposed to be a blue wave. And yes, we got divided government, for better or for worse. But we can't really call it a blue wave given that the Republicans strengthened, significantly, in the Senate. One can argue it came of a lot of things, from good candidates, to Republican advantage in which seats were up for grabs, to the popularity of President Trump. But it sure doesn't explain everything, given that earlier predictions, based on historical patterns, were that the Senate would flip along with the House for the Democrats. Multiple signs point to the Brett Kavanaugh...

Robert O’Rourke lost last night even though he raised more money than any other person who has ever run for the Senate. Hollywood dumped millions of dollars into his campaign hoping to beat Cruz … and Bob still lost. T. Greg Doucette broke down the cost of each Beto vote in what turned into a fairly entertaining thread. Enjoy. US Senate for Texas 2012, Paul Sadler Raised: $705,027 Votes: 3,194,927 $/Vote: $0.22 each 2018, Beto O'Rourke Raised: $69,240,350+ Votes (11:33pm ET): 3,413,259+ $/Vote: $20.29 each Allllllll that money for just 200K+ more votes?

If you need a cheerleader today, I’m probably not it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, we held the Senate, even picked up a few seats. And there is some delayed satisfaction in the fact that all those Dems who voted against Justice Kavanaugh lost. And sure, it was delightful to watch the heartbroken MSM admit that their big Blue Wave was in reality just an annoying little drip. And since we held the Senate we still control judicial appointees which in the long game may be the money play - but for now seems like painfully delayed gratification. On the other hand the thought of...
