Severin became a giant force in political talk in New England before spending years as a host on TheBlaze Radio Network's national platform. Beleaguered WTKK radio talkmeister Jay Severin remained off the air yesterday — and station execs stayed mum — after the shock jock was suspended for boasting about his past sexcapades with female employees. Women’s rights attorney and WTKK-FM (96.9) substitute host Wendy Murphy, who has filled in for Severin, called his on-air remarks offensive but questioned the station’s decision to suspend him.

I haven't listened to Severin in quite some time, but it occurred to me as Rush was finishing that Severin would have some intelligent comments about the Tuesday election. I haven't been disappointed. Click the link to listen until 6PM EST (I think). ML/NJ

It’s time for Jay Severin and Scot Lehigh to settle things once and for all. The libertarian Boston talk-radio star and the center-left Boston Globe columnist have been feuding for the last half-decade, with no end in sight. Lehigh, who has strongly criticized Severin for his statements about America’s efforts to stop terrorism and has raised questions about the WTKK-FM broadcaster’s biographical claims, is now involved in a new endeavor known as “Jay Watch.” Lehigh says this is “…an effort to assist WTKK’s putatively penitent p.m. host as he tries to clean up his act” (Severin recently returned to the...

After a month-long indefinite suspension following his offensive remarks about illegal Mexican migrants, WTKK radio host Jay Severin will return to the airwaves Tuesday, the Hub station announced today. In a statement, station management said they have had conversations with Severin over the past several weeks about his “hurtful, inappropriate remarks” and that he understands the station will not accept “this type of commentary on our airwaves in the future.” The station said that based on that understanding, they have agreed to conclude Severin’s suspension and he will return to his afternoon-drive show Tuesday. “We want to emphasize that WTKK...

Great news for Bay State talk-radio fans: WTKK-FM star Jay Severin will return to the airwaves Tuesday, June 2. Severin, who has been with the station for nearly a decade, was indefinitely suspended in late-April for caustic comments about Mexico’s role in the recent swine flu scare. It is expected that we will hear a kinder, gentler Severin going forward. That’s a good thing: when Severin avoids incendiary rhetoric and focuses on addressing the national scene from a straightforward, conservative/libertarian perspective, he is at his best. Severin never needed to imitate Michael Savage to become the top dog of afternoon-drive...

Jay Severin–or at least, a modified version thereof–could return to WTKK’s airwaves soon. According to WGBH-TV’s Greater Boston, Severin–who was indefinitely suspended last month for controversial comments about Mexico’s role in the spread of swine flu–may be brought back under three conditions: a restructuring of his salary (said to be around $1 million annually), a change in the overly sarcastic tone of his show, and an agreement to broadcast the show from WTKK’s Dorchester, Mass. studios, as opposed to his home. A toned-down Severin will be a better Severin. The “Extreme Games” host had a less acerbic tone during his...

Station may cut ties WTKK talker Jay Severin’s future at the radio station still remains in limbo two weeks after he was yanked off the air. Station spokeswoman Heidi Raphael said yesterday that Severin remains on suspension. She declined further comment. Severin was suspended indefinitely without pay April 30 after calling illegal Mexican immigrants “leeches” and the world’s “lowest of primitives” when talking about the swine flu on his show. Severin’s drawn-out absence - and silence - has fueled speculation that the station wants to reduce his hefty salary or cut him loose altogether. “I just get the impression from...

Is hate speech merely in the ear of the listener? In a bizarre editorial, the Boston Phoenix has called on Boston talk-radio station WTKK-FM (96.9) to consider ending its nearly ten-year association with afternoon radio host Jay Severin, who was recently suspended for hyperbolic comments about Mexico’s role in the spread of swine flu. While Severin’s rhetoric did go over the edge, the Phoenix may be going too far. “Severin was being more than an advocate for his anti-immigrant point of view, more than provocative, more than even incendiary,” the editorial states. “In our opinion, he was being hateful, trying...

Will Jay Severin ever be heard on Boston airwaves again? The Boston Herald reports that Severin will speak to the management of WTKK-FM to discuss his future with the station. Severin was suspended indefinitely in the wake of controversy surrounding his recent remarks concerning Mexico’s role in the spread of swine flu. Boston Globe op-ed columnist Scot Lehigh, a long-time Severin nemesis, believes the “Extreme Games” host is getting his just due. “I’ve long been a critic of Severin’s crude, bombastic, xenophobic discourse,” Lehigh notes. “Over the years, I have highlighted a few of his more blatant lies, outrages, and...

Jay Severin, the fiery right wing talk show host on Boston's WTKK-FM radio station, was suspended yesterday after calling Mexican immigrants "criminaliens," "primitives," "leeches," and exporters of "women with mustaches and VD," among other incendiary comments. Heidi Raphael, a spokeswoman for the station, said Severin had been suspended indefinitely from his afternoon drive-time show. She declined to say which of his comments - made since an outbreak of swine flu was linked to Mexico in recent days - sparked the suspension.

Conservative WTKK radio host Jay Severin was suspended indefinitely today after making offensive remarks about illegal aliens and the swine flu, sources tell the Herald. Severin was shocked to learn about the suspension, the sources said, as the station had been using those same remarks in on-air promos. Heidi Raphael, a spokeswoman for station owner Greater Media, confirmed Severin’s suspension saying the station would have no further comment. {Cut} Spanish-language daily newspaper El Diario la Prensa in New York City, reported earlier this week that Severin was using the flu to attack Mexicans and immigrants. “For Severin, Mexicans are ‘criminaliens’...

Radio shock jock Don Imus threatened to shoot WTKK host Jay Severin during this morning’s St. Patrick’s Day broadcast in Boston. The confrontation - which both Imus and Severin confirm - occurred shortly after 6 a.m. when Severin went up on the Wilbur Theatre stage during a commercial break to say hello to friends who are members of the “Imus in the Morning” cast. The exchange came a day after Imus’ dramatic revelation that he has prostate cancer.

Conservative talk radio yakkers took to the airwaves yesterday as though they were approaching the guillotine, all doom and gloom the morning after Barack Obama’s presidential victory. “The process of rebuilding the conservative movement has begun,” declared Rush Limbaugh. WTKK-FM (96.9) host Jay Severin played a clip of Obama’s acceptance speech, then told the president-elect to “go screw yourself.”

Now on The Jay Severin Show on Boston's WTKK-FM... Severin says he has seen Obama's Harvard Law School record and says he had "zero qualifications" to become president of the Law Review "based upon his achievements and academic credentials." This is the second time I've heard that Obama was the first affirmative action president of the Law Review. Just before he was elected, the qualifications for being president were changed from smarts and academic excellence to 'helping right the wrongs of a facist society.' As with Obama's Columbia records, all are sealed by purse-lipped Liberals who WILL NOT ALLOW any...

John McCain has reportedly chosen his running mate and will announce it tomorrow. It will leak today. Is it Mitt Romney? I hope so, and if you don't want President Obama, you'd better hope so, too - because if McCain does not choose Mitt, McCain loses. Snip ... internal McCain polling shows that of all people he is considering for VP, Mitt Romney attracts the most votes. In fact the polling shows a McCain ticket including Romney makes ONE OUT OF FIVE VOTERS MORE LIKELY TO VOTE FOR McCAIN - ACROSS PARTY LINES! (Nobody else scores like this.) Snip I...

Just on the Jay Severin Show, WTKK Radio, Boston... A self-described 24-year-old Obama supporter called Severin on the topic of the presidential campaign. The young man waxed at length about how in this election cycle the 18-29-year-old age group would be voting, for the first time, in enormous numbers. Enormous enough, in fact, to assure a victory for Obama. Severin countered that this group's huge turnout had never happened before and he doubted that it would happen now. The caller then started getting warmed-up, insulting Severin in particular, and conservatives in general as "old" and "on the way out." Severin...

Don Imus, back on the air just two weeks after taking a good long forced hiatus in the wake of the “nappy-headed ’hos” brouhaha, yesterday stuck his foot back in his mouth calling WTKK afternoon drive guy Jay Severin “gay.” During a political discussion, the I-Man inquired as to why Severin didn’t like GOP hopeful Mike Huckabee. “Why don’t you like Huckabee, because you’re gay or what?” Imus inquired. To which Severin replied: “I’m very happy, yes, and I would think that would make me like Huckabee.” Imus then admitted he was being rude to Severin who, he said, “couldn’t...

(Severino Press Release Omits Controversies) With newly syndicated "libertarian/libertine" (read: anti-Bush quasi-liberal) host Jay Severin (real name: Jimmy Severino) still leading the pack, many controversies emanate from just a small number of questionable personalities. Even after exposes by the Boston-area news media on Sag Harbor, New York-based Severin's wild claims of winning a Pulitzer Prize for "online journalism" and other highly questionable assertions, CBS still went ahead with plans to take him national. What does that say about how very little has changed at the network since Rathergate? Teaming up with sister firm Westwood One, a highly misleading press release...
