An official from the nation’s largest sheriff’s department vowed this week to “physically remove” ICE agents from its county jails. Speaking at a Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, Sheriff Alex Villanueva from the Los Angeles County sheriff’s office said he eliminate the presence of federal immigration agents from the city’s county jails. “We are going to physically remove ICE from the county jails," Villanueva told the board, using the acronym for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

A California sheriff’s office announced Monday that it will provide public information on when inmates are released from jail -- a move coming amid a growing backlash against the liberal state’s “sanctuary” laws that limit cooperation with federal immigration authorities. The Orange County Register reported that the county’s sheriff’s department will publish a “Who’s in Jail” online database, including the date and time of inmates’ release, to help cooperate with other law enforcement agencies including Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE.) Undersheriff Don Barnes cited California’s sanctuary legislation, which limits the instances when state and local police agencies can inform federal...

Here's a quick lesson for all police officers: Pulling over the president of the Dallas NAACP branch could be hazardous to your career. Just ask Dallas County sheriff's Deputy Mike Baker, who was ordered to be transferred out of patrol last month even though two separate investigations exonerated him of any wrongdoing. On May 30, Baker and rookie officer Patrick Arnold stopped a white minivan in Northwest Dallas with expired tags. Arnold, who was in training, talked to the motorist, filled out the ticket and returned to the patrol car. So far, so good. But Baker noticed that the motorist...

Inmates convicted or cleared of human-smuggling charges and presumed to be Illegal were allowed to walk out of jail without being removed from the country because of a disagreement over jurisdiction between the Sheriff's Office and ICE. At least 17 have walked right out of the jail and into the community - including six who pleaded guilty to human-smuggling felonies - because the ICE refused to transport out of the country the Illegals who were under the controversial coyote law. "Why would they refuse to pick up the felons?" Sheriff Joe Arpaio asked. The reason, according to an ICE spokesman,...

A wonderful Christmas present courtesy of the stupidity of COMAIR Airlines (Ohio) executives, pilots and air crew. We must also include the added stupidity af the airport security personnel, and the Dane County Sheriff's Department who had the final say to DROP this illegal detention of an innocent legal citizen of the United States of America. I would be bringing charges of "Kidnapping, Illegal Detention, Harassment, False Imprisonment, etc" against all those above who are responsible. Bush uses language of multilateralism to shame soft nations George W. Bush may not be a multilateralist. But yesterday, he played one on TV. Speaking to the United Nations about Iraq, he gushed over the organization, announced the United States was rejoining UNESCO, cited the UN Commission on Human Rights, and meticulously justified his case against Saddam Hussein by reference to Security Council resolutions. To Russia, China and the European Union, the message was clear: You like multilateralism? Fine, let's talk multilateralism. Saddam -- "exactly the kind of aggressive threat the UN was born to confront" -- has flouted your...
