There are a lot of Christmas songs out there that people have said to be non-inclusive, that these songs may also be offensive,” Dubil told students, before asking if they believed the song “leaves out the possibility for frosty to identify as a woman or non-binary.” The majority of students agreed that the song fails to be gender inclusive.

It snowed last night ... we received about 2 inches of snow … so … 8:00 am: I made a snowman. 8:10 - My feminist neighbor asked me why I didn't make a snow woman. 8:15 - So, I made a snow woman. 8:17 – Then my feminist neighbor complained about the snow woman's voluptuous chest, saying it objectified women everywhere. 8:20 - The gay couple living nearby threw a hissy fit and moaned it could have been two snowmen instead. 8:22 - The transgender man ... woman ... person asked why I didn't just make one snow person with...

A 29-year-old man has been charged after a snowman holding a rocket launcher was painted on the window of a republican support group's office in Londonderry. The image included the message: "Wishing you an Explosive Christmas." It appeared at the office of the Irish Republican Prisoners Welfare Association in Chamberlain Street. The man has been charged with two counts of permitting display of anything provocative.

In a display of solidarity with campus activists, the Penn State Board of Trustees voted unanimously to ban the making of snowmen on campus. "The snowman is the ultimate expression of white privilege," said a Black Lives Matter activist who refused to be identified. "It is a symbol of our hateful past and must be removed from our national consciousness. After all, every snowman is white. Can any rational person dispute this?" The vote culminated a months-long campaign of petition drives and public rallies. The goal was to get the ban in place before the first snowfall. With the vote,...

A prominent Saudi Arabian cleric has whipped up controversy by issuing a religious edict forbidding the building of snowmen, describing them as anti-Islamic. Asked on a religious website if it was permissible for fathers to build snowmen for their children after a snowstorm in the country’s north, Sheikh Mohammed Saleh al-Munajjid replied: “It is not permitted to make a statue out of snow, even by way of play and fun.” Quoting Muslim scholars, Munajjid argued that to build a snowman was to create an image of a human, an action considered sinful under the kingdom’s strict interpretation of Sunni Islam....

In a profile published on The New Yorker's website, the President admits he smoked marijuana when he was younger and is pretty sure a lot of other politicians did, too, but that some demographics are more harshly punished for the offense. He says if it is legalized, it could lead to a slippery slope, with supporters possibly wanting to legalize recreational use of other drugs, such as meth or cocaine. President Obama thinks marijuana is no more dangerous than booze — and even less harmful "in terms of its impact on the individual consumer." "As has been well-documented, I smoked...

TAUNTON — State Rep. Shaunna O’Connell said she meant no offense when she posted a photograph on Facebook showing a snowman decorated with a Confederate flag bikini top. “It was just kids having innocent fun,” O’Connell said. “Nothing should be read into that at all.” O’Connell, R-Taunton, posted the image to Facebook on Sunday, along with photographs of her children playing in the snow and a U.S. flag against a snowy backdrop. The Confederate flag, regardless of the intent behind its display, can be a racially charged image for many Americans, said Michael Curry, president of the NAACP’s Boston chapter.

Maybe it was all that waiting, but when Bob Mann made his snowman, he went big. The six-metre snowman, sporting a dapper top hat, stands in the front yard of his home on Godfrey Dr., in the Huron and Highbury area. Mann planned to build the snowman last year, fashioning the top hat out of a 20-litre pail and sewing four scarves together.

'A sequel to classic animated short The Snowman is to be produced by Channel 4 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original's 1982 broadcast. The Snowman 2 - described as "a brand new adventure" featuring Raymond Briggs's character and "a new set of friends" - will air next Christmas. London-based animation company Lupus Films told The Guardian it would be "new and fresh [and] not identical". The original film was nominated for an Academy Award in 1983.'

Snowman dies What's troubling is this: It looked as though he went out of his lane, and into the oncoming lane (there was no oncoming traffic) to plow it down. Perhaps that was the problem? I personally really don't see why they should have asked him to resign. Posted by: Sail'nTodd | December 15, 2010 at 01:54 PM hsgbdmama Aren't there laws about placing objects in the street which obstruct traffic? HAYDEN, Idaho -- While most see the holiday season as one of joy and merrymaking, at least one Hayden, Idaho, resident is taking the opportunity to spread a little hate courtesy of a noose-carrying, KKK hood-wearing snowman on their front lawn.

Yesterday on FoxNews I heard Geraldine Ferraro say that whoever coined the term ObamaCare was brilliant. She said it took all the negatives of the plan and tied it around Obama's neck. So I know my fellow Freepers will have the answer to the question "Who first coined the word "ObamaCare". Also, since the people clearly regard ObamaCare as negative, how are conservatives going to get us back to FreeMarket Health Care?

The hope of the organizers of Saturday's "One America" rally in Washington was that a big turnout -- something on par with the crowd Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin attracted at the end of August -- would alter the media's midterm campaign narrative, which to date has emphasized the energy of the Republican base and the likelihood of sizable GOP gains in November. And, to the organizers' credit, the turnout, to the extent it could really be measured, seemed impressive enough. But while we might want to take this as proof that the "enthusiasm gap" is vanishing and that the...

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama has reopened a long-running feud with Fox News Channel, branding the conservative U.S. cable network as "ultimately destructive for the long-term growth" of the United States. In an interview published Tuesday by Rolling Stone magazine, Obama took specific aim at Fox's Australian-born chairman and chief executive, accusing Rupert Murdoch of being more concerned about generating profits than promoting an agenda to improve America's well-being. The U.S. president likened Murdoch to William Randolph Hearst, the newspaper baron whose sensational publications produced the term 'yellow' journalism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Those who read this space know I am not a fan of the Republicans’ vaunted “Pledge to America.” I’m for simple pledges, the kind that get back to basics. If the Republican party is interested in making a pledge like that — a pledge that will resonate with the vast majority of the American people — here’s a suggestion: Promise an unwavering commitment to the principle of equal protection of the law for every American citizen. Promise, therefore, that Congress will investigate weighty allegations that the Obama Justice Department is engaged in racist law-enforcement practices. Promise, moreover, that any executive-branch...

A senior administration official who read the book says "the President comes across in the review and throughout the decision-making process as a Commander in Chief who is analytical, strategic, and decisive, with a broad view of history, national security, and his role." The official says of the descriptions of the infighting in the book that "the debates in the book are well known because the policy review process was covered so exhaustively." White House officials are still matching New York Times excerpts with anecdotes in the book but one says not all the quoting is fair, especially Vice President...
