Evergreen State College is eliminating dozens of staff positions as it struggles to cope with plummeting enrollment in the wake of the protests that engulfed campus last year. John Carmichael, the chief of staff and secretary to the Evergreen State College Board of Trustees, announced in a memo to staff and faculty members on Tuesday that the school has already cut 24 faculty lines and eliminated 19 vacant staff positions, and warned that up to 20 additional staff members could seen be laid off.

Laredo Sector Border Patrol officials say one of their agents shot and killed an illegal immigrant after the agent came under attack. An agent responding to a call about alleged illegal activity in the Rio Bravo area near Laredo came upon a group of illegal aliens. A statement provided by Laredo Sector officials said the agent came under attack by “multiple subjects using blunt objects.” The agent managed to draw his service-issued firearm and fire on the attackers, officials stated. More than three in four people living in Denmark consider the EU to be “a good thing”, according to a new poll. The results from the poll, which was carried out by the European Commission’s Eurobarometer, shows a record high level of support for the union amongst people in Denmark. 76 percent of people responding to the survey said that the EU was a “good thing”. MILWAUKEE -- Police on the scene of a suspicious package in downtown Milwaukee had to play defense when, out of nowhere, a man rushed to the package and spilled out the contents. The unidentified man was arrested for interfering with members of the Milwaukee County Bomb Squad. The bomb squad was on the scene at Wisconsin and Plankinton Avenues early on Monday, May 21 for reports of a suspicious package.
