LIBERAL, Kan. - Jill Wettstein won the American leg of a trans-Atlantic pancake race Tuesday in a time just fast enough to edge out the winning English runner, giving the United States its seventh straight victory. Wettstein, 25, finished the 415-yard run in 67.38 seconds. Earlier, British winner Andrea Rawlings ran the course at Olney, England, 50 miles northwest of London, in 69 seconds. FORMER Taoiseach John Bruton will today be confirmed as the EU's first Ambassador to Washington. The appointment will result in a by-election in Meath. Following months of speculation, Mr Bruton will get the go-ahead at today's meeting of the 25-strong Commission, barring any unforeseen delays. New York - An Air France Concorde jet landed at New York's John F Kennedy International Airport for the last time on Friday morning. The jet landed at 08:10 (1210 GMT).
