It is either gall, or desperation*, perhaps, to post this, but I think Rush is wrong, in a sense, about not exhorting his listeners to be strongly involved in elections. He says they need no encouragement to vote, which may be true. But, the problem is, we need them to do more than vote. We need them to drag along friends or relatives, man the phones, volunteer to help out, etc., all in the GOTV effort. This may apply to some of us (FReepers) too. Many already help a lot, but some of us, myself included, need to do more....

Two people burn a United States flag during a protest in favor of the caravan of migrants that is currently stuck on the Guatemala-Mexico border, in front of the American embassy, in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, Friday, Oct. 19, 2018. It appears they set multiple flags on fire, as this picture from the BBC shows a second flag set ablaze and treated like garbage: Buried in a News 8 broadcast from San Diego was footage of illegal migrants and their supporters on the U.S. side breaching the U.S. fence on the border, waving a big Honduran flag, victory-style, and whipping out a...

Brussels (AFP) - A European Union summit this week broke up with little progress towards a Brexit deal, just months before Britain is due to leave the bloc on March 29, 2019. EU leaders agreed to keep talking but refused to confirm a special meeting in November to seal the agreement, pushing any possible deal back to a December summit. Before that, British Prime Minister Theresa May must win a parliamentary vote on her government's budget on November 1, a test of her ability to get the final Brexit deal approved. Here is an outline of what could happen next:

She’s really ‘committed’ to that new cause of hers, isn’t she? She couldn’t *possibly* have been just pandering to the crowds after the super-heated partisanship of the Kavanaugh hearings, could she? Yes, yes she could. We say that because for all of her ‘impassioned pleas’ for liberal fans to vote against that Tennessee candidate that ‘scares’ her so, she didn’t even register to vote, herself. At least, her name isn’t showing up in the register. Swift reportedly owns two homes in Nashville, Tennessee, both of which are in Davidson County. She also has several other residences in New York, Beverly...

Christ said we should give to Caesar (civil government) the things that are Caesar’s. At the least, voting is what we should do to fulfill this admonition. Let’s vote! The former head of the Southern Baptist Convention and prolific gospel preaching pastor, Adrian Rogers had a simple but profound viewpoint on the importance of the Christian to get out and vote. “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.” (Ro 13: 1)

An internal audit from the California Department of Motor Vehicles released Monday shows about 1,500 customers may have been improperly registered to vote. “Approximately 1,500 customers may have been registered to vote in error,” the DMV wrote in a letter Monday to the Secretary of State’s Office. “This error has been corrected and is separate from the processing error we notified you about in writing on September 5.” Non-citizens are among the affected customers, according to Jessica Gonzalez, a DMV spokeswoman. In early September, the DMV revealed it sent 23,000 erroneous voter registrations. These additional 1,500 errors occurred when DMV...

“No taxation without representation!â€That was a popular phrase during the decades leading up to the Revolutionary War. Colonists thought it was unfair to be taxed and subjected to English rule without consent.Today Washington DC hands down laws and taxes to every one of the 320 million people living in the United States. And just like under English rule, we are not represented in the federal government. Now I know what you’re thinking… we have the right to vote for our leaders. Our votes send Representatives, Senators, and the President to Washington DC. And they represent our interests in government. US Representatives are...

Pastors can do very much to get out the Christian vote. They have a captive audience in their churches every Sunday so why not take advantage of that in a way that is totally legal. Several weeks before the election just do a sermon on the Christian duty of patriotism. Yes, patriotism is a Christian virtue. Christians are called to be faithful stewards and looking out for our children's future is part of that duty. Also being responsible with the public's money is also a very important duty of being a Christian. We have a duty to winnow out the...

Sen. Joe Manchin (W.Va.), the lone Democrat who will vote for Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh was confronted by angry protesters outside his office after announcing his position. Manchin’s answers to reporters justifying his position was drowned out by a group of women protesters chanting at him “Look at us!” and “shame!” Manchin looked uncomfortable as he tried to hear reporters questions over the angry crowd. Running for re-election in a state President Trump won by double digits, Manchin is considered a vulnerable Democrat. Trump has endorsed state Attorney General Patrick Morrisey (R) and has campaigned for him, despite Manchin...
