It says a lot that the brains in the Pentagon need to have ideas presented to them when the solutions are so obvious to anyone normal. If you act quickly, you can enter the joint Modern War Institute and US Army Training and Doctrine Command writing contest. The contest wants ideas to solve the military’s recruiting problems. If you can offer a winning solution in no more than 1,500 words, along with abiding with other stylistic guidelines, you’ll get public recognition, and maybe the powers that be will act on what you have to say. The deadline for submissions is...

Radicals will never be content to tear down just the ‘Redskins’ and ‘Chiefs’ mascots. They’ll always come for the proverbial Minutemen. Leftist activists have had a heyday dutifully marching through America’s beloved institutions, tearing down history and tradition. From NFL teams to high school mascots, from band names to street signs, it seems nothing is so sacred to escape the cultural undoing. The 2020 fight to rename the Washington Redskins — which became simply the “Football Team” (so original) for two years before landing on the “Commanders” moniker — was described at the time as a crusade for wokeness, and...

Northwestern University is in the news these days. Normally, that makes them happy. An allegedly prestigious, globally-renowned research university certainly ought to make the news all the time – with revelations of scientific discoveries, medical breakthroughs, or career announcements about proud alumni. Not today, however. Northwestern is in the news because of a rash of reports – some uncorroborated, some perhaps exaggerated or understated, some likely perfectly accurate – of various types of hazing and otherwise toxic cultures in their athletic programs. A baseball coach was fired for allegedly discouraging students from reporting injuries. A volleyball student’s sensible reticence to...

After the success of 2023’s The Little Mermaid, Disney’s next live-action project is a remake of Snow White — but not everyone is excited about the new movie. A live-action version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs has been in development since at least 2016, but production didn’t kick off in earnest until 2021. In June of that year, Deadline reported that Rachel Zegler had landed the role of the titular princess, who made her Disney debut in 1937. (Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was Disney’s first full-length animated film.) After the success of 2023’s The Little Mermaid,...

Concordia Seminary is the affiliated seminary of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in two locations St. Louis, Missouri and Fort Wayne, Indiana. Like other denominations, the LCMS is not immune to wokeness. However they are reticent to stand up against wokeness and eager to crack down on young Lutherans who oppose the liberal drift in their denomination. As with liberal drift historically, seminaries are often where they start. A former professor of Concordia Seminary write an article on their blog titled “The Future of the Missouri Synod” which reads like an establishment Republicans strategy from 2013. The current Synodical demographics...

I began teaching at the university level in June 2018, while I was still a graduate student at George Mason University. This upcoming year, I’ll begin a tenure-track assistant professorship at Nicholls State University in Louisiana. While it may be strange to have reflections on such a relatively short teaching career, I’ve found that my experiences contain nuggets of wisdom for the classically liberal educator. Much has been written about an illiberal turn in higher education. It seems one cannot open a trade paper or blog without reading stories about a tenured, well-respected professor getting in trouble or fired for...

In a Fourth of July message, Ben & Jerry's called on the United States to "commit to returning" stolen Indigenous land. The company defends its activism and states on its website that its social mission is to "eliminate injustices in our communities by integrating these concerns into our day-to-day business activities." What do I mean by cultural capitulation? I mean bowing down to the latest cultural fad, of kowtowing to the most current manifestation of what is PC, of becoming slaves to whatever the societal elites decide is acceptable.

A friend of mine suggested I try Netflix's new series; The Diplomat, with Kerri Russell, and Rufus Seawell. It had an interesting plot and premise and tonight I decided to give it a try. In the first 10 minutes of this show they had managed to find a way to include every Diversity Demographic possible, including what appeared to be a non-binary character. Part of the plot concerns the President appointing a career Foreign Service official as the Ambassador to England, and she is female. As most know that plum job usually goes to a high political donor. In this...

heir [the pro-life visitors at Yale] smug civility was infuriating; their invitations for debate [about foetal personhood and abortion ethics”] inflammatory. I could barely seethe out my opinion about the misogyny of holding such a debate at all … The discussion never should have been entertained [at all] because simply opening space for this ‘logical, respectful’ debate itself is a threat to human rights that should never be up for debate … Some arguments aren’t worth engaging with, and quite frankly are dangerous for even existing. -- Hyerim Bianca Nam, Editorial, Yale Daily News Logical argument, especially “civil respectful debate,”...

A newly unearthed interview shows a top Anheuser-Busch official (Jennifer Morris, vice president of communications ) describing the company’s embrace of DEI ideology. Following Anheuser-Busch’s embrace of a mentally ill man pretending to be a woman as the face of Bud Light beer, a newly unearthed interview shows a top company official describing how Anheuser-Busch uses divisive and discriminatory “DEI” ideology when marketing to consumers. Two years ago, PRovoke Media published an interview with Anheuser-Busch’s vice president of communications Jennifer Morris as part of its “Innovator 25” series. According to the outlet’s website, the “Innovator 25” list features individuals “who...

The tide is turning against woke agendas in corporate America. Just recently , Vanguard’s CEO Tim Buckley announced that his investment firm - the largest or second largest in the world (depending on how you measure it) - will no longer be committed to Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) or other “net-zero” initiatives. “Our research indicates that ESG investing does not have any advantage over broad-based investing,” he said in a recent interview. This comes after Buckley had previously withdrawn Vanguard from the Net Zero Asset Managers Initiative. This initiative, which garnered $59 trillion in commitments from corporations around the...

Several U.S. Army bases will officially get their new names in the coming months as the military seeks to redesignate bases that currently honor Confederate leaders. Driving the news: Fort Hood, the major Army base in central Texas, will be redesignated as Fort Cavazos on May 9, the base announced Friday. The new name honors Gen. Richard Cavazos, the first Latino four-star general and first Latino brigadier general. The base is currently named for John Bell Hood, a Confederate general. Wokeness has replaced competence and merit across the banking sector, and San Francisco Fed Chief Mary Daly is the poster child of this pernicious trend. A protege of Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and short-list candidate for Federal Reserve vice chair, Daly was supposed to be supervising Silicon Valley Bank but apparently was too busy playing politics and pushing woke agendas to regulate rogue banks like SVB, the second-biggest bank failure on record. ... Daly missed all the warning signs of runaway inflation, which led to the steep interest-rate hikes that made SVB’s investments worthless. ... she said inflation didn’t affect...

“Was there regulatory failure? Perhaps. SVB was regulated like a bank but looked more like a money-market fund. Then there’s this: In its proxy statement, SVB notes that besides 91 percent of their board being independent and 45 percent women, they also have ‘1 Black,’ ‘1 LGBTQ+,’ and ‘2 Veterans.’ I’m not saying 12 white men would have avoided this mess, but the company may have been distracted by diversity demands.”

The U.S. Army’s new brand and ad campaign largely omits reference to woke identity politics and could be just what the service needs to overcome historic recruiting obstacles, experts told the Daily Caller News Foundation. Prior advertising efforts alienated conservative families that once served as the Army’s primary recruiting base, according to experts. They “forgot that the primary market for Army recruiting is young men from traditional families, looking for a challenge,” Elaine Donnelly, president of the Center for Military Readiness, told the DCNF. The Army’s new branding campaign, unveiled Wednesday, shied away from social justice and diversity themes as...
