  • From John Hopkins Journal: GREAT REPORT on Hydroxychloroquine + Zinc for Covid-19

    07/02/2020 10:17:03 AM PDT · by SeekAndFind · 9 replies
Hydroxychloroquine+azithromycin has been widely misrepresented in both clinical reports and public media, and outpatient trials results are not expected until September. Early outpatient illness is very different than later hospitalized florid disease and the treatments differ. Evidence about use of hydroxychloroquine alone, or of hydroxychloroquine+azithromycin in inpatients, is irrelevant concerning efficacy of the pair in early high-risk outpatient disease. Five studies, including two controlled clinical trials, have demonstrated significant major outpatient treatment efficacy. Hydroxychloroquine+azithromycin has been used as standard-of-care in more than 300,000 older adults with multicomorbidities, with estimated proportion diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmias attributable to the medications 47/100,000...

Results: The addition of zinc sulfate did not impact the length of hospitalization, duration of ventilation, or ICU duration. In univariate analyses, zinc sulfate increased the frequency of patients being discharged home, and decreased the need for ventilation, admission to the ICU, and mortality or transfer to hospice for patients who were never admitted to the ICU. After adjusting for the time at which zinc sulfate was added to our protocol, an increased frequency of being discharged home (OR 1.53, 95% CI 1.12-2.09) reduction in mortality or transfer to hospice remained significant (OR 0.449, 95% CI 0.271-0.744).
  • Zinc hope in coronavirus fight (Wow, who'd of thunk??)

Scientists have known for years that the mineral plays a key role in maintaining human immune system -- Doctors have reported that adding zinc sulfate, a dietary supplement, to hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin may benefit patients with coronavirus disease, adding a twist to the controversy over the rationale for prescribing hydroxychloroquine for Covid-19. Doctors at the New York University Grossman School of Medicine have found that adding zinc sulfate to hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin already given to Covid-19 patients decreased the need for ventilation or admission to intensive care units, and lowered mortality. Their study provides the first evidence through patients that...

The politicization of hydroxychloroquine has been one of the most frustrating aspects of Trump Derangement Syndrome during this pandemic. Early studies in France and clinical outcomes from multiple treating physicians using a combination therapy that included the drug provided hope to combat the virus. However, it made President Trump hopeful, so it had to be obliterated. Crappy studies of the drug given to the most severe patients were touted as proof the president was wrong. Then there was Fish Tank Cleaner Gate. This is the problem with political reporters covering press briefings about a pandemic. They either aren’t provided an...
  • Zinc: The Missing Element in the HCQ/COVID-19 debate

It has been known, ever since 1984, that zinc is an effective virus fighter. That year a research study discovered that taking zinc gluconate lozenges early in the course of a common cold could shorten it. After a series of apparently conflicting research studies, a 2012 review of the literature concluded that taking zinc early reduces the duration of a common cold by an average of 1.65 days. Since colds are mild virus infections, it is clear that zinc has anti-virus properties. Zinc and COVID-19 When the COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) virus pandemic began, one of the glaring facts apparent to those...

Over the past three weeks, there's been debate over whether hydroxychloroquine, a drug used for decades to treat malaria, can help ease the symptoms of Wuhan coronavirus. During White House press briefings, reporters have done their best to shoot down the possibility. But doctors around the country and the world are using it and seeing positive results.First, in Los Angeles: Dr. Anthony Cardillo said he has seen very promising results when prescribing hydroxychloroquine in combination with zinc for the most severely-ill COVID-19 patients."Every patient I've prescribed it to has been very, very ill and within 8 to 12 hours, they were...
  • A Physician Investigates: Should You Take Hydroxychloroquine?

by Julio Gonzalez, M.D., J.D. A controversy has arisen regarding the utility of using chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine with azithromycin in the prevention and treatment of COVID-19. On the one hand, there are the purists who maintain that these medications ought not be employed until the proof of their benefits has been established. On the other, some advocate for the aggressive and immediate deployment of these medications. With these two very valid competing arguments proffered by sophisticated scientists and healthcare providers, the question for the rest of us mere mortals is what should we do? The first step in addressing this...
  • LA Doctor Seeing Success With Hydroxychloroquine to Treat COVID-19 (Emphasises Importance of Zinc)

Yet another positive report: LOS ANGELES -- A Los Angeles doctor said he is seeing significant success in prescribing the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine in combination with zinc to treat patients with severe symptoms of COVID-19. Hydroxychloroquine has been touted as a possible treatment for COVID-19 by President Trump among others, but it remains controversial as some experts believe it is unproven and may not be effective. The drug has long been used for treatment of malaria and conditions such as lupus and arthritis but is not technically approved by the FDA for COVID-19. The agency, however, is encouraging trials and...
  • HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE + ZINC -- MECHANISM OF ACTION (Zev's Tx Regimen)

    Youtube - Zev's Treatment Regimen ^ | April 4, 2020 | Dr. Zev Selenko
From commentary by Steven Mehl: Hydroxychloroquine's mechanism of action appears to be how it acts as a strong zinc ionophore (i.e. pushing extra zinc into the intracellular space) and allowing that zinc to inhibit the enzyme that the virus is using to replicate. Two other zinc ionophores that are over the counter are Quercetin (flavonol) and EGCG (found in high concentrations in "matcha" green tea) and also available as a supplement. Here is Dr. Zelenko's 'Zev' treatment regimen: Patients treated with three drug regimen: 1- hydroxychloroquine 200mg twice a day for 5 days 2- azithromycin 500mg once a day for...
