Now that New Orleans is 100% blight...(Eminent Domain thoughts?)

New Orleans is the most urban area hit by Katrina and the most likely to be cut up by land grabbing public entities. From a municipal view point, every parcel of property is blighted and is subject to eminent domain proceedings. New Orleans will sieze upon this trajedy to remove unwanted neighborhoods in favor of lucrative tourist attractions. What do you think?

"There were class action lawsuits last year that will make ignoring the toxic variety of black mold "

And these were cases w/o floopding - just poor venting.

Tear down or remodel should be up to the owner - they can sell too

The West Bank... How dare we occupy the West Bank...

Soon the shahids of the West Bank will commence martyrdom operations against the evil occupation army of the Zionist Occupied Government(ZOG)...

Actually, come to think of it... That is pretty much what the looters were working up to before the National Guard came in. Throw in Cindy Sheehan and it's a perfect match.

Anybody want to hazard a guess as to when the Democratic party will start to hold 'Death to America' rallies?

:-(

They've done it before. 1861-65.

Not really - many homes are not that wet and even those that were submerged might get away with new wiring, sheetrock, and fixtures.

That a lot less expensive than starting from scratch.

Ah but it won't generate as much tax revenue as the hotel I am proposing, so get the bulldozers...

Yea, the "building inspectors" are rubbing their hands with anticipation of all the payoffs they will get to allow a crooked contractor to repair a house that should be demolished.

This may work out pretty well for NO. They dump their poor and unemployed on Texas so they unburden themselves from that social aspect and now are free to build the city back up to attract new neighbhorhoods, etc. - all at our expense.

Frankly, without a sense of "ownership," these displaced people will feel as much at home in Houston or Austin or anywhere else where they might land by the luck of the draw. Many of them are just wasting anyway anyway, and they can waste away anywhere. This is what an entitlement mentality has done to an entire class of folks now dependent upon the government for the sustenance of life. The government has been failing them miserably for decades, they just didn't know it. With Hurricane Katrina they can now see the failure of their supposed benefactor in brilliant technicolor. If there is a bright spot in all of this, it is that maybe they can see the light of a bright future built on hard work, personal responsibility, and self-made success. Like Ronald Reagan said, ". . . government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem." We have all seen that statement borne out in the last 10 days.
