Another Shameless Liberal Scam
Focal Point USA ^ | October 6, 2007 | Rich Carroll

How many readers have donated hard-earned cash for the Susan G. Komen Breast Foundation? How many of you have run or walked to support a "race for the cure"?

How many of you know your breast cancer donations go to the pro-abortion outfit Planned Parenthood? Beware of liberal agendas wrapped in good causes.

Interesting, very interesting... Planned Parenthood using cancer causes to fund themselves.

Simply amazing, when one considers that there have been allegations of a strong link between artificially terminating a pregnancy and breast cancer.

Can you imagine a pro-life group doing something like this?

The media would destroy the movement forever. Because these are liberals, you will not hear a peep from the press.

IIRC, They also use a very large percentage of donations for admin and advertising. Only a very small portion of what they take in goes to actual cancer research. (They are not the only “charity” guilty of this. I am now a little wiser and try to check out the charities I donate to to see how much of my donation just funds the fat cats who run it.) If anyone knows otherwise, please correct me.

I never donated.

It always seemed to aggressive for a charity, like we were expected to donate. Every company I worked for had drives for them, always emanating from the Liberal women and Gay men in the HR department .....

I would love to be able to find a worthy charity to donate to in a number of fields, but the more I look into them, the more disappointed I am at how they spend their money.

I’d like to give money for research for cancer and other diseases, to help those truly in need, for education. One of the few charities that DOES put its money to good use is the Salvation Army. I also like the Semper Fi fund and Fisher House for supporting our troops.

Another factor I like in a charity is that they show some progress. Those that can show me what they accomplished last year with their donations move up on my list in comparison to those that are perpetual black holes of need with no positive results for my “investment.”

We stopped giving to the Susan G. Komen Breast Foundation when we found out less than 17% of the money donated in our area stays here. Now we support our local womens health center. I didn't know about their liberal leanings. Thanks for the information. I'll spread the word.

I felt the same as you, then I found out that if a woman has had a positive mammogram or biopsy, The Arizona Institute for Breast Health will review all diagnostic results, examine the patient, then have a multi-doctor conference to give the patient complete understanding of the disease and the options available FREE of charge. It is a great place to donate. I wrote earlier we stopped giving to Susan G. Komen Breast Foundation and now support this local facility.

Unbelievable ... especially when new medical reports are showing increase chance of breast cancer is directly linked to those who had abortions.

I don’t know how much credit or blame I would attach to a company that hops on one of these bandwagons. Cynically, I think companies are in business to make money and they do this for the publicity. The pink ribbon logo is widely recognized and it says “we care.” So if a company wants publicity, they have to pick a well-known organization like Komen, rather than a more worthy but less glamorous group.

I have not run or walked to support a cause. To me it is mindless and non productive. Something productive would be something like "Adopt a Highway" program whereas a volunteer group cleans up a strip of highway or road. Or where a volunteer group cleans up an empty lot in an inner city so it can be used as a playground. The race for the cure is basically a feel good effort so you can say you did something not realizing that the status of research was unchanged by your walk unless you picked up cans and bottles and exchanged them for money that you donated to feed the poor.

Tampa/St. Pete will be having a walk/run for the cure event today.

They have been blasting the local channels with adverts.
I’ve had it with these people always trying to get your
donations with the high powered pleads, and if that doesn’t
work they try to guilt you into a donation.

Hate to sound cold, but the donation thing has taken an ugly turn....IMO

There is a great book out there called "Begging for Change". It was written by a man who started a soup kitchen in DC with a different philosophy.....he judged success on not seeing the same people ever again.

His belief is that charities should not be judged by how little money get skimmed off the top for administrative pay, but by how they solve the problem. If a charity does not try to actually solve the problem in a realistic way, it deserves no money.
