Threads, the new “Twitter killer” app rolled out by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, has surpassed 100 million users in less than a week while Elon Musk’s micro-blogging site has seen traffic “tanking,” according to a tech executive.
The initial burst of success for Threads has fueled a war of words between Musk and Zuckerberg.
The Twitter boss referred to his tech rival as a “cuck” and challenged him to a “d–k measuring contest” over the weekend.
Not only have users been signing up to Threads through their Instagram accounts, but they have also been posting prolifically.
Since the system went online Wednesday, Threads users have written more than 95 million posts and clicked “like” on 190 million posts, according to The Verge.
While Threads has gained momentum in its first few days of operation, Twitter’s traffic has reportedly been “tanking,” according to the CEO of cybersecurity firm Cloudfare.
Matthew Prince, the company CEO, posted a graph to both his Twitter and Threads accounts on Sunday showing the steep decline in traffic.
Prince’s data dovetails with figures released by Similarweb, the web analytics company which said that web traffic to Twitter was down by 5% over the course of the first 48 hours during which Threads went online.
According to Similarweb, Twitter’s web traffic is down 11% compared to the same period last year.

false.
bots are being deployed by meta... ez to inflate numbers.
While it's been decades, the echoes of Ken Lay saying nothing was wrong with Enron days before its collapse suggests skepticism, and plenty of it.
100 million is a whole lot of bots. The deep state/zuck site is basically GhatGPT talking to itself.
They will be in an echo chamber with fellow Dems, like DU. They want to convince independents to vote Dem, so unless lots of independents go to threads, they will have to return to Twitter.
Musk’s Twitter is bleeding.
Zucker is far far worse. Anything he touches hates us on the Right.
I’ve been on Twitter 14 years. Have lots of history there. Once my typical “impression stats were 400,000-500,000. Recently it was almost zero. I caught them in their own stats trap and complained now it is up around 10,000 ; the percentage of change is HUGE.
The censoring on Twitter is done external by dozens of Fed Gov and academic and Not for Profit organization.
They have been exposed and the Judge just told them they could not censor for the Gov.
We will see how that case reaches it’s final conclusion.
The O’Biden regime cannot stand without the Lies, Propaganda and Censorship.
May God expose all of this evil.
Leftists can’t tolerate dissent because they can’t defend Pollyanna
Same BS, different Marxist platform…
I use twitter and haven’t been moderated once despite a couple of warnings
Instagram and TikTok are much more intrusive by comparison
It was a self-immolation on Twitter’s part, for whatever reason.
They at the same time blocked all access to tweets and tweeters for those who weren’t signed up for and logged in on Twitter.
Since then, they have relented a bit by letting some tweets be seen from such “non-users”.
Liberals and rats fleeing twitter
Pass the popcorn, please. I’m not going to use the new one either.
No doubt Threads is going to get a ton of signups initially. As another poster pointed out, many are jockeying for "pole position" on the new platform, namely bragging rights that they were there on Day One, in case the platform does take off.
Personally I like the new Twitter since Elon took over. Elon seems to be giving everybody on the platform a fair shake, which the Left apparently hates. They miss having their platform where they can shadow-ban conservatives and even banish them outright.
Now it looks like they will get their echo chamber back on Threads. I have no interest in going there. Though I do have a flag planted over on Truth Social, just in case Twitter goes to hell again.
It's where the kids go when somebody else's differing opinion conflicts with their own, and they can't squelch the differing opinion.
They won't just tolerate it - they demand it.
Information from outside their force-fed restricted diet upsets their intellectual stomachs.
Meta STOLE the source code from Twitter, this is the only way Zuck could have a competing product so fast
So millions of losers AKA drama queens have something to keep them amused while sitting in cars waiting for their overpriced coffee.
BOTS, but I’d imagine many persons and businesses that have a presence on other social platforms just ensuring they appear on this one too. Assume a lot of corporate marketing departments had a task to sign up, regardless of whether or not they think it is, or will become, a significant channel
Assume the real measure will be traffic in about a month.
If Twitter’s still requiring a login that may be why it’s “tanked”
