"Onward, Christian Soldiers” was written in 1865 with no intention of ever being published, especially in adult hymn books. Rev. Sabine Baring-Gould, its author, was at that time the curate of a parish in Yorkshire county in the north of England. "It was written in great haste, and I am afraid some of the rhymes are faulty. Certainly nothing has surprised me more than its great popularity."

In 1871 Arthur Sullivan wrote the tune “St. Gertrude” for the hymn, which further popularized the hymn and has ever since been its standard melody.

I recd this from bevperl, a longtime Freeper who founded Band of Mothers. Bev attended the Freeper events at Walter Reed hospital supporting our troops.

“My understanding is there are plans to bring our Troops home from Niger over the coming days. I don’t trust that is going to happen in the coming days. I don’t trust anything the current “regime” in charge puts out because they are all a bunch of liars.

Please folks, tomorrow call your Congressmen and Senators and tell them to Bring Our Troops Home from Niger! Let them know we will not tolerate another Benghazi. Not Now, Not Ever Again!

The situation there for our Troops is horrendous and they need to come home. Another epic failure by the Obama/Biden administration (really, I should have left Biden off. I think we all know know this is Barry’s transformation of America in it’s final phase).
Our Troops are not sacrificial lambs for a bunch of crooks who are running our government. Right into the ground, I might add.

The arrogance of the Secretary of the Army and the goofy General who says he’ll look into “somebody” not getting their mail. The smugness and arrogance of these two imbeciles testifying makes me wish they be planted right smack in the middle of Niger with the coup operators surrounding them.

Please call the members and ask them if they are aware we have American military in Niger who have been abandoned. Please sternly let them know we will run them out of town if they don’t get our Troops out of Niger.
