Freeper Grassroots Movement to Re-Elect Bush
July 24, 2003 | nwrep

Posted on 07/24/2003 9:00:48 AM PDT by nwrep

I want to kick off a grass-roots movement to educate and inform discerning Democrats about the real nature of their party and am soliciting suggestions from Freepers. The reasons I am doing this are several, as listed below:

* I have several conservative Democrat friends who have always voted D, but who disagree with the stance of their party on issues like AA, tax-cuts, and regulations.

* These people do not understand that regardless of the "moderate" local Dem candidate they vote for, the party agenda is driven in Congress by an extremely liberal faction of the party.

* Case in point #1: I alerted one friend to Rep. Rangel's remarks about the death of Hussein's sons yesterday (Rangel said it was "illegal" for the US to kill them). The friend said he disagreed with Rangel, and the majority of the Dems would similarly disagree with the Congressman. I asked this friend if he knew who Rangel was. He had never heard of him. I informed him coolly that if the Dem regain the House, Rangel would become the Chairman of the powerful Ways and Means Cte., where all spending bills originate, and that he is one of the most influential members of his party in the House. The friend was shocked.

* Case in point #2: I asked another Dem friend what he thought of Kerry. He gave me a canned response about his Vietnam service, etc. I then asked him if he knew about his anti-Vietnam war stance. He said he did not, but that his parents (lifelong Dem voters like himself) hated Jane Fonda and everything she stood for. I then forwarded him the NewsMax expose of Kerr's Vietnam stance, his anti-war book, his rallies with Fonda and Ramsey Clark, and his statement to the US Senate in 1971. After reading all that, he said he was disgusted, and would forward it to his mother. He conceded that if Kerry were to be the nominee, he would vote for Bush.

* The problem is that these Dem voters are blissfully unaware of the voting records of their candidates and representatives. All they go by are finely crafted campaign statements issued during the last few weeks before the election where they pay homage to FDR, Truman and JFK. As a result, these dopey Dem voters (like my friends and their parents) continue voting for these candidates thinking they are voting for FDR/JFK-like candidates.

We need to educate these people and keep them as well informed as we Freepers are about the real day to day legislative agenda of the Rat Party. We need to highlight how they continue to vote against the best interest of these conservative, patriotic Democrats (like my friends) and how they continue to display hypocrisy by constantly changing their stance on major issues.

How do we do this?

So do you explain to would-be Bush supporters how Bush has turned conservatism on its head (George Will), or hugely expanded social spending as part of "compassionate" conservatism?

Why the heck would I want to highlight minor negatives about Bush when I am trying to convert them from that evil party? After they stop being Dems, we can talk about that. My first priority is defeating the Dems, for crying out loud.

First order of business - take a technical writing class. Learn audience analysis, where you write to the comprehension level of your expected audience. Then, study your audience and determine that level. Dems - hmmm, somewhere between 3rd and 7th grade.

Research the connection between the "Progressives" in congress and Karl Marx. Then compose a paper and hand it out as a flyer to your Dem friends. Be sure to include your sources.

How do we do this?

See them as people like you.
Make sure you understand why you view things as you do.
Try to understand why they view things as they do.
Listen to them respectfully.
Speak with them respectfully.
Try to make sure that they know that you do understand their views.
Speak with them about specific issues rather than symbols, general philosophies or icons.
Concentrate on similarities as least as much as differences.

Great post, nwrep!!

Buy them their own copy of TREASON. AC points out the good and bad Democrats.
Then by them a copy of OFF WITH THEIR HEADS. Dick Morris is a democrat who has open his eyes.

Some more advice to re-elect Bush:

1. Donate to Bush-Cheney '04 re-election campaign.
http://www.georgewbush.com

2. Join the Republican National Committee.
http://www.rnc.org/

3. Put a Bush 2004 bumper-sticker on your car, buy a Bush hat or t-shirt and wear it around. I get more complients and thumbs up on my Bush hat than anyone would believe. It shows grass root support.

4. Get involved with a your local Republican party and work the Bush campaign in 2004. Canvass, do literature drops, work a get out the vote phone bank.

5. Never back down from your beliefs!

"Why the heck would I want to highlight minor negatives about Bush "

That you consider rampant socialism a "minor" problem speaks volumes about your "conservative" credentials.

Conservatives do not promote expansive social spending. period. end of story.

Let's promote conservatism. Let's promote the Constitution. Let's not elect those who support the expansion of the welfare state, or who support wanton fiscal irresponsibility.

Tax cuts are good. Spending cuts are better.

It seems he, or a clone, nail every "re-elect Bush" thread with the "Bush is a statist" stuff.

"So do you explain to would-be Bush supporters how Bush has turned conservatism on its head (George Will), or hugely expanded social spending as part of "compassionate" conservatism?"

Do you place social spending above or below banning abortion and fighting terror on your "conservative" priority list?

show them a copy of Clinton's speech to the nation on Iraq. Show them copies of Daschle's pre-war bash Bush talk. Show them Hillary rolling her eyes at the 9/11 speech. Show them quotes from significant Dems stressing the danger of Iraq when Clinton was Pres, and compare their quotes to now.

Basically, show them how they are a bunch of hypocrities who will compromise national security to get elected. And these Dems do NOT love America. They love the ideals of the former USSR.

How do we do this?

A good start would probably be to find a conservative candidate to support!
