Gray Davis claims immigrant status---

"I like to say that I'm an immigrant, too! I was born in the Bronx, and moved here with my family in 1954...."

Me, too, me, too---I was born in Wisconsin. The ever-pandering Gov. Gray 'Doofus'.

Pander Rat is the new code name for Davis. Wonder when he will admit to being gay?

You know, this is interesting.

Howard Stern might be able to help someone who would be very good as governor of California (or any state, for that matter) win the election. Yet there are many here who would not want our guy to take the step of calling in to the show and doing what it would take to win the election, and get rid of a world-class RAT.

I am of the opinion that Bill Simon, as well as President Bush and others, should call in and spread the message. I don't see what we lose from this, and I see great potential to make gains.

I think maybe you need to read more slowly.

GOPhack was wondering what Stern was about, and was considering watching. Since I know a little bit about GOPhack, I provided some info, and suggested that watching Stern isn't a "must-do" — to say the least.

Should Simon call him? I don't know. Probably not. Stern might want to humiliate him by challenging him to describe one of his body parts — and if you have watched Stern even on a surf-by basis, you will know I am not exaggerating.

You don't see why the President of the United States or future Conservative Governor of the largest state in the Union shouldn't call in to a show which features naked women, lesbian dial-a-dates and freaks and freaky as they come. If we have to sink that low, I don't want to be part of that party.

I don't care for some of Mr. Stern's antics, either. But at the same time, if appearing on his show were to ensure a landslide in 2004, with pickups of House and Senate seats, then I'd do it.

All Bush or Simon would have to do would be to call in, toss Howard something nice (either a proclamation or something of that sort - kinda like those keys to a city some people get), and ask for his support. None of the freaky stuff at all. PJ-Comix would know more about this than me, but I think I'm accurate on this part.

What we get are the Supreme Court nominees (and other judicial nominations) CONFIRMED. We'd be able to make the tax cuts permanent. We'd be able to build on the education bill we passed last year. Lots of good stuff could happen.

COMMENT: Lawmakers last spring approved almost $1 billion worth of rewards and other funding tied to test results, including bonuses for teachers and merit scholarships for students. But some wonder about ranking and rewarding schools based solely on a norm-referenced test. California hopes to center its accountability system around tests that better match its standards as early as 2003. Meanwhile, the legislature pressed ahead with efforts to recruit and keep teachers.

NOTES: *Some state grades changed this year because of changes in the methodology. For details, see "State of the States." California did not receive a grade for school climate because the state has dramatically reduced class size, but the data do not reflect it.

These results cannot be compared easily because of the change in methodology. Even if there weren't the change in methods, the improvement(?) is scant.

What speaks volumes for these 'studies' is that we are into April of 2002 and the 1999 and 2000(Gray's 1st 2 years) reports aren't available(or I can't find them). On Wall Street, if your quarterly report isn't out by the end of month following, your stock takes a dive.

The public school system with its 'lag of accountability' technically has a 'lack of accountability'.

Enron stinks and in 18 months the WORLD knows and it is gone, the government education system stinks, and the WORLD knows, and it is grown.

I just heard about a report that Pennsylvania privitized 42 of its schools ... anyone know anything about this? Is there a thread out there? Details?

What kills me about these scores is that ONLY ONE IN EVERY FIVE STUDENTS is "proficient" at their grade level.

One in five!

That's what we're getting for over $9,000 a year? I pay $3300 a year for my kids to go to a PRIVATE school and their proficiency rating last year (they are taking the SAT test next week) was 86%.

Of course, in my kids school they talk about God, discipline kids when disruptive, and teach character education.

Yeah. Schundler would have won had he gone on the Stern show. Hopefully Simon will call in. If so he will definitely win the governorship in CA.

Um, unless Simon wants to be asked on national radio about the size of his penis and whether or not his wife allows him anal sex, I would think he might want to steer clear of Howard Stern. Especially since he is determined to play the conservative in this race, despite his knee-smacking cowardly approach to championing the cause. But, then again, he is running in California...

As reported here, in connection with this fiasco, Simon says he can't recall whether he paid any California state taxes last year. If you believe that, raise your hand. The man is going down. He is totally inept, and clearly not a straight shooter. He is a trimmer. Punish the man, and then punish him some more.

Haven't you gone away yet?

This might be difficult for you to understand, but as a successful businessman with interests in hundreds of different businesses and ventures, Bill Simon has very complicated tax returns. That is the kind of thing you have to say "I don't know I'll get back to you on". Below is his response, which makes a lot of sense to me.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 18, 2002

ADVISORY

SACRAMENTO - The Bill Simon for governor campaign today issued the following corrections and clarifications as a result of recent news coverage.

1. Bill Simon has paid substantial state and federal taxes each and every year, including this past year.

In this most recent tax year, for example, those taxes totaled in the millions of dollars.

2. Some reports either implied or published Davis' misleading allegations that Bill Simon did not pay his taxes since he filed for an extension. There is no basis for such statements or implications, and they are false. Like millions of Americans, Bill Simon filed an extension, but paid his estimated taxes by the April 15 deadline.

As he does every year as a matter of policy, Bill Simon paid 110 percent of his estimated taxes by the April 15, 2002, deadline.

3. All Americans are entitled to privacy with respect to their personal incomes taxes. Gray Davis has again cynically alleged that Bill Simon's tax returns might reveal conflicts of interest, when in fact he knows they would provide NO information relative to financial holdings or sources of income.

Bill Simon filed his Statement of Economic Interest and disclosed his financial holdings. In fact, he over-complied with the law. In areas where the law on what he must disclose was ambiguous, Bill Simon always erred on the side of disclosing more than required. A detailed picture of his financial holdings and income are available to the public, and the press has reported extensively on these holdings.

4. Despite Simon's substantial contributions to the state treasury, Gray Davis has still turned an $8 billion deficit into a $17 billion dollar deficit in just three years.

As a result, the Simon campaign thinks Gray Davis actually governs more like Groucho Marx than Karl.
