The good news is that the current U. S. Attorney in Sacramento, John K. Vincent, is one of the most honest, incorruptible men in the entire federal government (I have had the pleasure of knowing him for the past 30 years, since we were sitting together in a Physics class as freshmen in college). He has a singular record of achievement in sending crooked politicians to prison (at least six former members of the California legislature). I would suspect, though, that the decision to investigate Gray Davis is out of his hands--that the decision will be made by Bush and Ashcroft. However, if they give "Vinnie" the go ahead, Davis is going to wish that he had never been born.

Right now, Oracle could use an experience liar like Lockhart.

I'm shocked! Isn't the Sac Bee another of those leftist Ca propogandapapers? If the leftist media out there turns against him,he is screwed.

Time for Ashcfoft to announce the US Dept. of Justice to begin investigations into California government.

ROFLMAO! Not real familiar with Janet Ashcroft's record, are you? Davis is as safe from Ashcroft as he is his mama. Maybe even safer.

Yep get some tough conservative lawyers and use the Rico Act to sue these bastards in the union and Davis's flunkee appointees.

I'm betting you will find that city, state, and federal municipalities and offices are exempt from RICO suits,as are elected and appointed public officials. THEY are the ones who wrote the laws, and they wrote them to jail or punish US,not THEM.

Actually the RICO act CAN be used against government officials. It was done in the late 80s/early90s in Sacramento when the feds set up a bogus shrimp farming company.

The whole thing was a real tragedy. It nabbed some crooks, but at least two innocent men took contributions from the company after voting for their legislation. This was NOTHING compared to what Davis has done with the plastic pipes, the prison guards and now Oracle. I don't understand why he's skating free when good men have gone to jail for just the suspicion of far less.

I'm not familiar with the Rico laws to know who is sheltered or not. I just know that they had a chilling effect on some local governments in Kali when they became law. The recent use of Rico laws against the Catholic church has had a chilling effect on them and other religions who have protected the predators from the law and their church.

Maybe we can get a lawyer. Carry Okie recommends using the Rico laws against federal and state enviral workers who use bad science to get EPA rulings based on that bad science.

Maybe Carry can clarify and answer your question.

I don't know. It could be. It would probably be an unconstitutional exemption under the 14th Amendment equal-protection clause.

Thanks for the info. I'm shocked they were careless enough to leave themselves open for prosecution under their law. I guess they probably figured nobody would use it against THEM.
