Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

About 200 FReepers use their computers and Playstation 3s to process proteins for medical research. Called Folding@home, it is a large distributed computing initiative that has about 250,000 systems worldwide working at the moment.

These proteins are so big and difficult to simulate that even a supercomputer couldn’t process the chemical and molecular reactions that every protein in our body does in less than a microsecond.

A Work Unit is a single snippet of a part of a protein, for a time of less than a microsecond, simulated in our computer (by the jmol protocol). Most of the proteins we simulate are between 25,000 and 50,000 atoms; occasionally we get protein snippets with over 90,000 atoms.

It is great fun to know that you are making a real contribution to science, helping to cure Alzheimer’s and other diseases.

Free Republic isn’t only about politics, ya’ know.

The current Folding@home thread is here:

"You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on Earth, or we will sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness."

~~~~ Ronald Reagan: "A Time for Choosing"
This is another time for choosing. Reagan had it right. Its liberalism versus conservatism. Take your choice. You obviously have no problems trashing Free Republic with your wishy-washy politics. Especially this remark.
>>>>>I've got deep reservations about Rudy, but all things considered, he's really no more or less conservative or liberal than President Bush.
I have my problems with Pres Bush, but to say the politics of Dubya and Rudy are one in then same, shows you don't know what you're talking about.
>>>>>So what does banning and purging his supporters accomplish, other than to put FR out of touch, and make it look like we can't handle a reasonable debate?
What BS! Free Republic has never been a liberal debate society. Nor is FR meant to support liberal issues, causes or candidates. It focuses on advancing conservatism and conservative candidates, while defending the Constitution from every leftwing perversion known to exist.
ROTFLMBO!
I know you’re banned but really. NOT canceling the account is petty and vindictive, but canceling them is. How to set up a lose/lose situation. No matter what he does, it’s wrong.
Really good riddance.
If this thread is any indication of the body politic at large 2008 will be a rough year for conservatives of every flavor.
Their context
C'mon, EV. Photos of gravesites, a cemetery, and a bug-eating frog--after we were treated to the bug zapper for nine days.
Either you weren't thinking at all, or you were once again slipping the long knife into the backs of the dearly departed. Anyone with a conscience and two brain cell synapses could see the analogy. Either that, or you were posting mindlessly.
It's all so short sighted and tragic to see a great debating forum overrun by this backslapping, high fiving mentality. Especially since it's not going to change anything except drive good FReepers away or underground, and make outsiders think we're a torch-and-pitchfork wielding mob.
You're right. Jim should put an end to this now. Enough already.
It goes far beyond eliminating a few Giuliani spammers.
I wish it had stopped at elimination of Giuliani spammers (those who could not resist lying about other candidates). That was a noble cause, IMHO.
And I sure hope you'll return.
I heard similar things said on this forum, in the 11 months leading up to the 2006 election debacle. It speaks to what many conservative are thinking. Its indicative of the conservative politics at large. Conservatives in the GOP are split. There are those who want to betray their conservatism, capitulate and sell out to support a liberal as the party standard bearer. Other conservatives have chosen to fight for what we believe in.
I am interested in your take regarding another of my points, specifically the sociopathic gangbanger behavior of chest thumping bug zappers. Do you believe it is representative of the types of personalities FR wishes to promote and attract?
And how are your comments about those you dislike any different than what you're condemning in those *sociopaths*?
We / they / us......
That is what is disturbing about the atmosphere that has been promoted by this thread. You are putting your "we' in the exalted place that, it seems, you now expect to be exempt from comment. I stayed out while the long knives were out. There's no turning a stampede like that was. You just have to let the cattle run themselves to exhaustion.
But, I damned well do intend to make my opinion known; and if that is a problem, guess what?
Thank you, Mr. Wolf, I have a high regard for you.
I'm not thrilled with Rudy either, and I don't think a lot of the folk who walked are thrilled with the guy.
That about sums it up. I can't stand the patriotic celebrations about having driven away good conservatives.
