I know some farmers who put water in their farm gasoline tanks. The people who thought they were stealing gas usually got less then 1/8th mile before having to abandon the car. Repairs for their cars were expensive.

Word got out & other theives decided not to steal water anymore.

locking gas caps

Hand drills will punch through the soft steel of the tank itself. Not a problem.

I drive an F-250 and my mechanic a few weeks ago told me it’s best to have at least 10 gallons in my aft tank.

Just sitting in the tank, doing nothing! I asked him what gas prices were on his planet.

Rust is the problem. Need to have the fuel sloshing around or water will eat the tank.

Reminds me of the Farmer and the stolen watermelon story:

A farmer was having problems with students at the local university coming into his fields at night on weekends and stealing his watermelons for their frat parties.

He got a sign and put it out by the road that read:

ONE OF THESE WATERMELONS IS POISONED!
STEAL AT YOUR OWN RISK!

The next weekend no watermelons were stolen, but the sign had been changed:

TWO OF THESE WATERMELONS ARE POISONED...........
