Daily Kos has obtained a copy of Obama's "certification of live birth."
All of the information is what we have been told before - name, birth date, etc.. His mother's race is listed as "Caucasian," his father as "African." No middle name of Muhammad, no first name of "Barry," no last name of "Dunham." He's listed as "Barack Hussein Obama II," not "Jr."
(Interestingly, in the lower right hand corner is the backwards reflection of a stamp, "June 6 or G, 2007". Did someone request or process this record about a year ago?)
Site creator Markos Moulitsas mentions in the comments the campaign released it to him.
(Also, for astrologers, the time of birth was 7:24 p.m.)
Next time you get one of those e-mails suggesting Obama has a different "real name," send people to this post or that document.
UPDATE: I'm getting some, "Jim, this looks modern," e-mail messages. As Ed notes,
When someone requests a validated copy of their birth certificate, they don’t get a photocopy of the original. They get a fresh certificate with a seal showing that it came from the official registrar, in most states. They keep the info in a computer and produced validated copies on request.
This is a validated copy of the birth certificate, with which Obama could get a passport, register to vote, etc etc. It’s perfectly acceptable.
Obama himself probably has a dog-eared yellowing copy in a desk drawer somewhere; this document is what he or someone authorized by him was given by the state out of its records. Barring some vast conspiracy within the Hawaii State Department of Health, there is no reason to think his birth certificate would have any different data.

The last copy I ordered of mine looked just like this one posted on Kos.

I was born in 62, so I imagine that’s just how documents are handled now.
African is not a race that and the pfony document says in the bottom corner is is laser printed and the lettering is not inconstant with Laser printing, it appears to be photoshopped .

Dangit, THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE. The issue is “Does he qualify as a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN AS THAT TERM WAS DEFINED WHEN HE WAS BORN.” Different standard, at least then. The reasoning behind the law was because one parent wasn’t a US citizen and the other hadn’t been for 5 years, he was just as much a citizen of both countries and could choose at majority. (They didn’t allow dual citizenship as much then.) Therefore, he qualifies as a NATURALIZED citizen, not a NATURAL BORN citizen. The ONLY real difference between the two is one is eligible for President, the other is NOT.
I’d cite the statute, but it’s been cited time and again already, and apparently people aren’t bothering to read it. They prefer what they “know” vs. what the specific applicable statute said at the time.

It is laser printed, apparently that is how they issue them these days. But save to your computer and zoom around the typing. Notice the missing background markings.
The statute does not apply if he was born in the United States, only if he was born in Kenya or another country. This document, if legit, shows that Obama was born in Hawaii, which was then and is today part of the U.S., thus he is a natural born citizen.
Looks like a cut and paste job, but I'm far from the expert.
Even if it is a fake, which I would not be surprised at all, since the source is the Daily Kos

Since we’re rolling bones, his maternal grandparents moved to Hawaii to be with their flake of a daughter, so another possiblity is they adopted the kid—since mom was just a kid herself and papa `flew the coop’—and American-ized his name in the adoption petition/Decree.
Ten, twenty years later Barry decides he’ll have better luck in the brave new `Great Society’ going with the old man’s handle.
All idle speculation since, as you point out, all of this would be sealed.

Ummmmm, before you rant too much (more), you might want to re-read the statute. It will show the law you're fond of citing & interpreting in no way applies to Obama.

That's the emerging consensus on HotAir right now. Plus the source of the Certification of Live Birth is DailyKos ... Since Obama’s campaign just launched a Fight the Smears website for just this sort of thing, why wasn't it released there first?
A lot of forms are done like that. Instead of a line to put the information, they have a clear space in the background. It makes copies clearer when there's no clutter behind the text.
And, if you took the core issue to this SCOTUS, how do you suppose they would rule...???
I doubt they'd even hear the case.

Wow, someone who actually looked at how “natural born citzen” was defined under the law. What are you doing slumming in FR where apparently the actual statute is trumped by what people “know”?
BTW, his mom was 18 when he was born, so she cannot have met the standard. Therefore, Obama is a US citizen, but NOT a “natural born” US citizen. That makes him ineligible to be President under the Constitution. But nobody seems to care. I mean who gives a sh#t about the actual laws and Constitution in moderm dumbed down America? Certainly most freepers don’t, or these concepts are just too complex for them to grasp (scary thought).
According to Miss Manners, 2nd indicates that the child is named after an older relative who is not his father. I expect Obama’s parents just made a mistake, natural enough since his father was not American.
Much as I’d like this exposed as fake, I think you are right. You get those artifacts at hard edges.
