BUMP from a Fox Valley FReeper!

Just curious... what is the fried fish of the day in WI? Sounds like you all have a great time and enjoyed the evening.

I had perch, some had haddock too. It was very good! Here's the link to the Mine Shaft restaurant if you're interested.

You're in the Fox Valley?? (Where's your flag, BTW?) I'm in Antigo, not too far away. Maybe it's time to start a North Central WI chapter. I've flagged those who have designated their location as in this area.

We've talked about having more of these, in different areas - Appleton's not too far for most of us,
with enough notice. Neither would Fond du Lac, Madison, or any of that area be too far. The more the merrier and the stronger we become.
I sure enjoyed myself, as did my DH (brewcrew).

The all-you-can-eat cod was good as well.

Have to echo the comments so far. Thank you for organizing it (much better you than me-VBG).

Definately, I would drive to the Fox Valley. Appleton is only 1.5 hours north from where I live.

I was curious as to the type of fried fish you would have in MI for restaurants. Down here in SE Texas it would be catfish if freshwater or some other species (trout, etc) if salt water. Thanks for the info.

This is now the second time I've met others at a FReeper gathering, and I must say that I am most amazed at how comfortable I have felt right from the get-go. It's not like we don't know each other, as some of us have a tendency to bare our souls to each other in writing at this place.
Being a recovering liberal, I came away with the distinct feeling that there is a core of Americans who realize that our government has strayed from what it was intended to be by our founding fathers. Many of that group hang out right here at FR. I don't know if we'll see a return to the constitutional republic they envisioned, but if we stick together, spread the word, and encourage each other, there will always be hope - even if our children's children have to continue our work.
I had a marvelous time last night, you guys. The food was very good, they had Sprecher on tap (one of the only things I'll drink that I don't make myself), and it was heart-warming to meet all of you in person.

It's the beer batter that makes or breaks a fish fry. When the batter is good (light, crisp, bubbles still embedded), it almost doesn't matter what kind of fish it is.

I sure wish I was there! It would be great to meet fellow FReepers from WI, even though I just signed up. When and where will the next get-together be held?

Dear G.d. - Welcome to FR. What took you so long? It's okay - I lurked since late in 1997 and it took me a long time to get up the nerve to post. We're glad to have ya.
Nobody's really decided when the next get-together will be. They just kind of "evolvate" (as my son is fond of saying). I think the general concensus last night was that they definitely must be held more often. I'm thinking once a quarter, but then I haven't organized one yet, so I talk big.

Welcome to FR! You will never regret you found us. I do a lot with the fundraising and I'm thinking about using this table for the next fundraiser. Why don't you check out some of these links and let me know if it is helpful for you!

How do you and WIladyconservative manage to FReep? Who has first dibs on the computer? It's hard enough here with me on the internet and someone needs to use it for college research or e-mails. My standby is "why don't you rent some movies tonight"? It's not working too well though.
We should plan something for after New Years. Maybe in January or February in Oshkosh or Madison?

We've learned to share pretty well, but I get a couple of minutes here and there at the office as well. I'm sure it won't be long and we'll have three PC's networked in the house. The bubchen is getting one for his birthday, and I will network the two of them to take advantage of this new broadband connection.
Re: the next get-together - Just about anytime, anywhere, and we're all over it like a duck on a Junebug.
