Sex between adults and children has been a societal taboo so strong that it's considered one of our few unquestioned moral principles. But arguments have emerged in academic journals, books and online that at least some such sex should be acceptable, especially when children consent to it.

I doubt that pedophilia will ever achieve societal acceptance. The reason that homosexuality has been able to achieve some level of mainstream toleration is that most people believe that behavior by consenting ADULTS shouldn't be illegal. Pedophilia can't make the same claim: there's too much evidence of the devastation that early sexual activity can cause. Also, a child is a child and, legally, can't give consent because their judgment isn't the best. Any adult who would have sexual activity with a child is exploitative, to say the least.

Harris Mirkin recently wrote a lead article in the Journal of Homosexuality entitled "The Pattern of Sexual Politics: Feminism, Homosexuality and Pedophilia." Using social-constructionist theory, he argues that the concept of child molestation is a "culture- and class-specific creation" which can and should be changed.

He likens the battle for the legalization of pedophilia to the battles for women's rights, homosexual rights, and even the civil rights of blacks.

He sees the hoped-for shift as taking place in two stages. During the first stage, the opponents of pedophilia control the debate by insisting that the issue is non-negotiable--while using psychological and moral categories to silence all discussion.

But in the second stage, Mirkin says, the discussion must move on to such issues as the "right" of children to have and enjoy sex.

With more research, some scholars say, it may be only a matter of time before modern society accepts adult-child sex, just as it has learned to accept premarital sex and homosexual sex. "Children are the last bastion of the old sexual morality," wrote one of the trailblazers for this view, Harris Mirkin, an associate professor of political science at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

You are right on target. It will be cast as a "civil rights" crusade to "decriminize" children who want to have sex, which is a "choice" the have the "right" to make for themselves. First the academics will issue "studies" to bless "consensual" child sex, then the APA will delete pedophilia from the DSM, then Hollywood and the P.C. establishment will try to shout down and shame any opposition.

Remember "Brave New World"? "Sex play" was taught and encouraged for the children. People who didn't have promiscuous sex were views as deviants.

All change is not in the direction of depravity.

Although the depravity of these academics is beyond dispute, the fact is clear that child abuse, both physical and sexual, has been consistently declining for generations.

Treatment of children that would have been unremarkable 100 years ago would be cause for criminal prosecution today.

While it is necessary to expose these perverts, don't assume that this morally mutant minority will thrive anywhere beyond the humid hothouse of the university campus.
