For those of us who learn from history........Bush should of asked his father what happens when you wimp on a campaign promise to "take an issue off the table". It might be true that americans don't give a rats about cfr, but they usually care about campaign promises!!!

Look for bush's poll numbers to drop as conservatives register their displeasure, followed by demorats posing as conservative groups using the issue against him, convincing others that republicans cannot be trusted.

It worked before!

Me: it is also quite clear that whatever Party one belongs to - as long as somebody has the Party view, it is careful reasoned and cogent analysis. Actually it pitiful and pathetic rationalization

You: Let's see if I understand you. When you say something, it's reasoned and cogent but when others disagree, it's ascribed to being a pathetic, rationalized, party line view. Is that what you're saying?

No, I believe that the majority of PartyLiners are thrusting the view you ascribe to me. The rationalization I see is coming from some conservatives who believe one thing and then instead of criticizing an action, invent reasons (rationalizing) why it is now such a good idea. (Grand chess master rationalization, had to do it to win rat., the SC will handle it rat.) That is pretty clear.

The personal attacks are coming from the PartyLine side (bashers, bashers all), as they say.

John, John, John. . .

You're yet another one who understands politics, and you've just demonstrated your deep mastery of "the game."

Now, how do we teach the rest of the Right the same thing? You tell me, cause I have absolutely no idea. It's like, they just won't listen.

...Perfect example is post #30,39,,,,,,we who disagree with Bush are misguided, seeking personal gain, to be viewed with suspicion, contributing to the loss of the war, basHers, dividing the base, should get with the program, should "understand" where the priorities should be, and glory be we should CALM DOWN AND THINK.

Now, who is stating who is unreasoned in this debate?

The best thing I can think of to do to help the President is to stand up for him against those who would destroy this administration either for their own personal gain or through misguided priorities.

and you do it very well.

Great suspicion needs to be given to those that blindly follow a "leader" that dishonors those that supported him based on what HE SAID HE WOULD DO, then sells those principles out for political gain. Fact is HE signed a Bill that RESTRICTS the ALL AMERICANS first Amendment Rights. ANd I don't give rats @ss what the SC says. HE SIGNED IT.

Pardon me, But I believe you were one that railed against the Other Democrats Supporting Slick willy for doing exactly what you are doing now. Support him no matter what.

Sheep are sheep, Irregardless of their party Affiliation.

And for those of you that think this is some grand Political plan, remember this. This is from the Same Administration that tryed to HIDE GW's DWI arrest. REMEMBER THAT, the one that cost him 10 percent in the polls a week before the election. Yeah, baby. Political masterminds.

Let's face a few facts. Two weeks ago 99% of the posters on this board were vehemently opposed to CFR, and were certain Bush would veto it. Ever since Bush indicated he would sign the bill into law there have been rationalizations on this site as to his reasons. Over the past few days, these rationalization have grown into full-blown support for the signature, claiming Bush is a political genius.

I believe most right-thinking people would agree that Bush signed the bill because he perceived it would be politically expedient to do so. There is no grand conspiracy here, rather a case of the simplest explanation being the correct one. I'll leave it to each individual to judge Bush's credibility after this reversal, and I know there are wide ranging opinions on this forum.

That said, this daily change from opposition to the signing...to indifference...to support...it's unsettling. If many conservatives choose to line up wholeheartedly behind Bush after this "setback", I can understand that. We fight vehemently during primaries, but present a united front to the world for the general election. But let's not delude ourselves into believing that signing CFR was a brilliant action on Bush's part; it was a mistake and I suspect most of us realize that. Admit it, and let's move on.

this was not trashing of the first amendment, it was effective use of the other side to do your bidding....all the unconstitutional parts will be struck down, and GWB will assist in that

Bill Clinton campaigning in 92
"If elected I will give the middle class a Tax Cut "
Eleanor Clift when questioned on the McLaughlin Group about Bill Clinton's renaging on his promise
"Oh nobody believed that he only said that to get elected "

fast Forward to 2000
George Bush
If elected I will veto the unconstitutional CFR

Posting on Free Republic John Huang2 as to why Bush broke his campaign promise
"A brilliant political move on Bush's part"

A geat American doesn't have to play politics . He can cut through the BS and speak PLAIN TRUTH to the American public . If he resorts to politics it is because he really doesn't trust the public

What happens when Bush signs an ANTI GUN BILL that he believes is unconstititional . I guess we can rely on the SCOTUS to overturn it EH ??????

If Bush BROKE this campaign promise it means he can justify breaking any of them and why believe any future ones ???

He is listening to his political advisers who I don't trust. If they think they can screw the gun ownners and get elected they will do it without a second thought

That's what POLITICIANS DO . It is not what GREAT Americans do
