Just passed U.N. Security Council: Both sides must participate in "meaningful" cease fire, Israel should withdraw.
This is crap. Can you imagine the Security Council trying to tell the U.S. to get out of Afghanistan when we were trying to get the terrorist leadership there?
It sure is.
Let's all remember this is the 3rd anniversary of the Elian Gonsalez kidnapping at the hands of the el Reno Federales and the subsequent "re-patriation" of a 7 year old boy who's mother died to bring him here, with a Communist Dictator in Cuba.
It's truly saddening to me how in the public eye, these types of events are overshadowing the greatest gift to mankind - the gift of Salvation that our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ gave to us.
For He so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son ....
Thank you Jesus.
There is a reason why we won't throw down with Israel publically, but Bush doesn't seem to want to share it or leak it. I wish he would at least be that honest with us and tell us why.
This is ludicrous!
Why did we not abstain?
This resolution, like all the others, is but another scrap of paper to be ignored by all sides except when it suits their particular agendas.
In the midst of this, it seems most here are missing the other big story, which is the Arab League collectively screwing the US in regards to Iraq.
I think the lesson of these events is that, thanks to the policies of the previous administration, and the fractured politic of the current day, we do not pose the overwhelming threat to others we did in 1990-91. Sad.
Bush's people voted for this thing so that the diplomatic door might still be left open to the other Arab states. You'll notice that the American delegate is the only one to go on about the PA bombers.
Anyway, this buys us a little time diplomatically while the Israelis hit cleanup on the West Bank. Methinks that Shin Bet, the Paratroopers, and the rest of the IDF are fanning out across the West Bank.
Arafat's rule is combined to three rooms. He can't really coordinate with the other guys, so PA resistance will be sporadic and uncoordinated.
Believe me, the Bush people understand why the Israelis are doing this. They have been burned by Arafat before. Ignore this diplomatic nicety.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

Here's the official UN Flag code and regulations site:
Proof positive that Israel has no friends in the world community (and can only marginally count the U.S. in that category).
I do disagree with Dubya on this. He's just plain wrong. He needs to recalibrate his moral compass. No one wants a general war in the Middle East, but IMHO, appeasement to the terrorists is MORE likely, not less, to cause one. Dubya, IMO, knows this, but politics, or the desire to take on Iraq first, is clouding his vision.
A little time for the Israelis, and for us. We're not ready yet -- as frustrating as that may be. Voting for the resolution was also the only way to change it from what would surely have been a condemnation of Israel by the UN, who think that by placating Muslims the problem will disappear (ha!), among other things. The condemnation resolution would have served to fan the fires in the muslim world, and perhaps emboldened one or more entities to get openly involved.
OoOoOoPs!
I guess we are with the terrorists...
GET RID OF POWELL!!!!!!!
