Would the plaintiffs include descendents of slaves in the U.S. among those who benefitted or have they not seen what conditions are like in their ancestors' homelands?? If given a choice (which BTW as citizens of the US they DO have) would they go back to their ancestral homelands? Would they like to be Africans rather than African-Americans?

This is clearly another scam from the race hustling poverty pimps and if it goes anywhere the descendents of slaves will see no benefit; only the lawyers and scam artists (but I repeat myself) will see any money. And those minorities who are today impoverished will end up impoverished. They've been seduced into the most powerful addiction there is->handouts and the promise of more handouts while all the time ignoring the bountiful opportunities that surround them! Pity they seem so gullible!

Well, I should be expecting to be served papers any day now. There's no question my ancestors owned slaves. Fought in the Civil War as well. Heck, my great grandfather propelled Tennesee into the Confederacy as governor.

Where do I sign up? I am classified as white/male. My Great Grandfather/Grandmother (mothers side) was a freed slave. My ancestors on my mothers side fought and died fighting in the Union Army from Indiana, while those from my fathers side did the same but in the Confederate Army from Georgia. I wonder how much I should get for the losses my families recieved? Being at least 1/4 black myself I should be on the "gravy train" too.

I wonder who would pay me and who I should pay. My ancestors father side owned slaves also, ancestors on mothers side where slaves. Ancestors on both sides fought and died for both the Union and Confederate Army. I'm going to either owe or get millions.

I did see a statistic that in the south ONLY 2% of white families ever owned a slave.

This is revisionist history.In the 1860 census there were 76,651 White Families in Texas and 21,878 of them owned slaves. 70,994 in Louisiana and 22,033 owned slaves.

In 1850 there were 347,525 slave holders in the South (head of Households)

I am NOT supporting ANY payment, just correcting your facts.

The first logical step of course, symbolic, yet highly significant, would be for halle berry, being half hated white, to turn over half of everything she owns, or ever will own, to her beloved, peaceful, ever-so-virtuous "people of color."

She should turn over all her money. After all, if it were not for slavery her black-half would never have gotten to America and Halle might look like Meryl Streep.

My ancestors didn't arrive here from central Europe until about one hundred years ago. I've never heard of any Polish slave holders.

One of my wife's colonial ancestors in New England may have "owned" some domestic help. This is, as far as I know, my family's involvement in slavery.

If we give blacks reparations, then I demand that all of those who receive checks to forfeit their American Citizenship, and be returned to Africa, NEVER allowed to return. Let those people take their newfound wealth, and have them rebuild the parts of Africa they go to. I am so sick to death of people wanting freebies at my expense. My ancestors were Native Americans, and they were nearly wiped off the face of the Earth. Did they get reparations? Not really. Screw the black community. If they want a hand out, and feel that America has treated them badly, Ship them all back to Africa with their money. NEVER TO RETURN.

Reparations are a lie, and if black people think they are entitled to them, then I as a tax payer, am entitled to reparations for all of the welfare money we've paid out to their kind, as well as how much money it's cost to incarcerate them. If we're going to ship them to Africa, We're shipping them ALL back. Criminals included.

The Republican Congress at the time voted 40 acres and a mule for all freed slaves. The Democrat Andrew Johnson vetoed it. So, the Demoratic party should be held liable for what their President did and should cough up reparations for all Republican Blacks! My ancestors were Yankee abolitionist ministers, humane and devout, who preached against the evil slave-holding culture of the Old South. They were right and you were wrong. Anyone who defended the Old South deserved to be killed, and many were, and the South was smashed and will never rise again. Good riddance.

How can you say this? You must be a student of the "might makes right" school of thought. It was an unconstitutional, illegal war that killed destroyed thousands of lives. There is no justification for these actions - Sherman himself said if the Union lost, he would be tried for war crimes.
