I wonder why it is they have wells all over the place in the Canadian Northwest Territories yet I never hear a major bitch from our neighbors to the north about 'destroying the environment'. Sen. Murkowski displayed a very revealing comparison map on the Senate floor of the many, many wells in the NWT vs. the very few in Alaska.
Same type of environment and Canada seems to be successful, so what gives??
To: Praetorian
What they are really saying is that the drilling would be harmful to Sen. Land Scam Artist Hillary Clinton and young lady killer Sen. Ted Kennedy.

Why can't we just relocate these animals to the West Bank? there are so many there already.
To: montag813
Better yet, why don't we take the animals from the West Bank and move them to ANWR .... I'm sure they would just love the climate!

Great pics. Actually, there was an earlier thread about Gail Norton recently showing a video. The 'Rats hated it and whined about how much it cost. The total: about $95.00. I'll see if I can find it and provide a link....

If only someone in the media would be honest enough to show these pictures, progress might be made on this issue! You right-wing zealot, why are you confusing people with your propaganda pictures?
Obviously you have not been given the Official Sierra Club pictures of ANWR...
To: kayak
I could care less about ANWR, but some of those pictures are OBVIOUS fakes. In the top one, some animals are shoulder deep in grass that an animal right next to them seems to be miraculously walking ON. Some cast shadows while others do not. I guess the laws of physics are suspended in ANWR. Now THERE'S a valid reason to not drill there! In the second picture, dozens of animals appear to be enthusiastically grazing on SAND. Where did you find those pics? There are enough good arguments to drill there without having to post altered pics.

Never seen an animal when it lays down? Oh well!!!
To: PrescottBush
Not the Sierra Club pics....which are OBVIOUSLY real. LOL!!
To: alaskanfan
Look closer. There are Caribou "laying down" in grass that covers their entire bodies up to their neck, while other critters hooves are visible right next to them. And yes, I am serious. Where did they come from?
To: Praetorian
The herd, which has dwindled to an estimated 123,000 animalsIs this an oxymoron? Dwindled=123,000

Get your head out of your rear. Some of the caribou are laying down and some are standing.

ANWR videos: $95.81. Postage to send ANWR videos to network news anchors: $43.55. Informing Americans about what the real Alaska North Slope looks like in the dead of winter: Priceless.Priceless, indeed!
Thanks for the link.
Here's another goodie from that thread .....
When looney envirowackos I know complain about drilling in ANWAR and how it will "destroy" it i bring it home to them in the form of a simple example. I suggest you do the same. Here it is... Tell the envirowacko to walk out into their yard. Then have them place a postage stamp on the groud. Then tell them that their entire yard is ANWAR and the postage stamp is where the drilling will occur.
Sure puts it in a different prespective than is normally presented doesn't it.

Been there, seen that, nothing looks abnormal to me.
To: TomB
No sh*t. Laying down and sinking 2 feet into the grass up to their necks. Never mind. We're on the same side here, but those pics are bogus.
To: PrescottBush
