"With Arafat it will never be peace because he doesnt want peace. He is now isolated, and look what hes doing. So what do you think he was doing before he was isolated? The PLO is an empire of terror. They look into your eyes and lie." ...look into your eyes and lie. Who does that sound like? (hint: i42) Lots of good in this piece.

"With Arafat it will never be peace because he doesnt want peace. He is now isolated, and look what hes doing. So what do you think he was doing before he was isolated? The PLO is an empire of terror. They look into your eyes and lie." The means of their "war" or "struggle" in using young adults or children as suicide bombers is one of the most reprehensible, inhumane and obviously evil actions ever taken in human history by anything that represents a people or nation.
I don't know how or why this simple fact is lost on just about everyone.
Are the lives of young Palestinians that cheap, that insignificant?
We need to agree with Sharon on this, either overtly or tacitly.
And quick.

The PLO and the Pan Arab Islamic States are an empire of terror. They look into your eyes and lie."

JERUSALEM Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon Wednesday intensified his criticism of Secretary of State Colin Powell's decision to meet with Yasser Arafat, saying there can be no peace with the Palestinian leader because he stands at the center of "an empire of terror."
There probably can't be peace with Sharon around either. The best thing that could happen would be for both of them to step down.

"Then I talked to Cheney and said, if the shelling from Hezbollah continues, Israel will have to take extremely severe action against Syria and Lebanon. Cheney called Bashar Assad on Tuesday and relayed the message... Bashar should pay attention.

The US is having a problem with the Middle East now and wants it quiet so it can get on with its own war against terror. The Arab world is taking advantage of that.... This is so true. Notice none of the Arab states are willing to condemn terror. The situation is rapidly deteroriating. This is a no-win for the Bush administration.

(about Syria)"I told Cheney exactly what we are going to do. The message was very clear."
And now he has told Syria VERY publicly and told the world. Syria will fall like a rock before the Israeli onslaught.
They have been warned.

"Arafat stands behind the terror in the world today. Israel will continue to act against terror. President Bush said one should not negotiate with terrorists. Well? Israel faces terror every day," said Sharon.
"Then I talked to Cheney and said, if the shelling from Hezbollah continues, Israel will have to take extremely severe action against Syria and Lebanon. Cheney called Bashar Assad on Tuesday and relayed the message, but so far I havent seen anything change. I told Cheney exactly what we are going to do. The message was very clear." I am glad to see this. Israel apparently ihas finally had enough.
IMHO, Powell is an embarassment. The situation is clear. We either are serious when we tell folks to pick sides and fight the terrorists, or we are not. The Israelis have decided they are serious and we need to support them.

Sharon has signaled us that Israel is self-sufficient. Since Sharon thinks God is on Israel's side there is no need for the USA to be involved. It is time to withdraw all our aid, arms, and negotiators. Then Sharon can do his will on Arafat, Saddam, Syria or whoever and carry out what he thinks is God's plan without the USA being part of his tag team.

There never is....as anyone familiar with Black September knows. The Palestinians are the most despised people in the middle east.........after Israel.
Jordan massacred thousands in September, 1970, when it drove them out of it's territory.
Thousands perished in Lebanon in 1982 when Israel reacted to cross-border terror attacks.
April 2002......not learning from it's own history that terror and war does not get you anywhere, the Palestinians are getting crushed again by Israel as the rest of the arabs stand by and watch.
And who has been the great leader of these people for all these years? The great Yasser Arafat. As a leader, he is not too good. But the PA is not a democracy and will contine to lead it's people to their death and despair until these REALLY STUPID people get some smarts and reject Arafat and war.

Sharon, who said recently that he made a mistake by not killing Arafat 20 years ago Amen Ariel, you are right. Now waste the guy already.

Koffi Anan was on earlier and said that Arafat as the elected leader has to call on the suicide bombers to stop. I did'nt know that Arafat was elected?

"There probably can't be peace with Sharon around either." Couldn't get to 20 posts without the ol' "moral equivalency" trick.
I bet you think Barak would have handled it better, huh?
To: Wphile
Well, if it truly is a no-win situation, then let Israel and the Arab world fight it out, and let us take care of our own business. I'm just wondering at what point do we throw up our hands and say, 'hey, we tried...'
If Sharon says they will not deal with Arafat, and Arafat will not condemn terror, then it is a stalemate. Let the toughest bully win.
GO ISRAEL!

He was. In a rigged election (all opponents killed off).
Perfect example of "One man, one vote, one time."
