The new President of Venezuela has just announced that they ARE going to open the spigots wide, and do what's right for Venezuela and not for OPEC. He also announced that he was cutting off all oil shipments to Cuba.

It's nice to know that Powell has finally learned to recognize Arafat's extended middle digit when he sees it...

I have to bump this line:

Note to the Pallies: When that filthy pig you use for a "leader" is finally, properly whacked, could you possibly choose someone to replace him who at least looks human? It would do your "cause" a world of good if its main representative didn't look like a peep-show patron with the fashion sense of Fidel Castro.

because I've thought this very thing so many times. Why is it that the world's two-bit tinhorn dictators wear those ridiculous uniforms while the leader of the world's only superpower manages to get by with suits and ties?

Any bets on how long it will take the EU to make the same mental leap?

More Jenin Operation details that the big media may not give you:
"A balanced person does not booby-trap his house with the intent of returning to it," Brig.-Gen. Eyal Shlein, who commands the fighting in the Jenin region, said yesterday. "Among the detainees [that we arrested], there was a large number of suicide bombers who were prepared with videos already en-route to carry out suicide attacks... Explosive belts [that we found] are too numerous to be counted... The terrorist hardcore exploits local residents who do not want to fight. Some of them are hostages, whose houses are being used as booby traps..."

Asked about allegations of a massacre and the prevention of media coverage, Shlein said, "There was no massacre whatsoever. If we wanted to perform a massacre, we could have taken over the camp in one day. The IDF did not use artillery or aircraft. The IDF is one of the most humanitarian armies in the world. It is important to emphasize that whoever uses women, children and the elderly as defensive shields - would pay a price for doing so. We have also paid our price."

Asked if the army intends to destroy the area, Shlein said, "No. Many buildings are booby-trapped. The more we enter the center of the camp, the more booby traps we encounter. We do not want to suffer casualties. We intend to demolish the buildings which are booby-trapped because after we get everyone out, they will accuse us of leaving houses with bombs in them."

Q: "What about the allegations regarding the prevention of humanitarian support?"
A: "During the battle, the curfew was lifted. We made possible the supply of food, fuel and electricity in the hospital. Some of the houses were indeed destroyed, but the ones who are responsible for this destruction are those who had arranged the village for this kind of fighting."

Plus there's the fact that the terrorist used the arabs driving a red crescent ambulance to ferry explosives hidden under a boy "patient". Or was it meant to be a small truck bomb. Remember that report about ten days back during passover?

Pray for the IDF.

I guess all those dead jewish people are thrilled that we wound up looking silly. GET REAL!!!! POWELL IS WRONG WRONG WRONG and all this posturing about whether he will or he won't meet with the murderer is what is driving all these terror attacks. FOR SHAME!!

Just a little insignificant observation but I noticed that the Israelis drive on the "right" or proper side of the road like we do. They are smart enough not to take after the EuroPEONS, thank goodness.

"He will unleash all the homicide bombers he can muster.."

If he could get more homicide bombers going he'd do it. This is JUST like when we attacked the Taliban and people began posting about Osama using nukes in response. Arafat shot his wad today. If he could send two bombers out per-day he'd do so.

Nicely put! The U.S. should permanently cut ties with the Palestinian Authority until Arafat is replaced and the new leadership has publicly renounced terrorism in all its forms.

Oh no. Let's send Arafat to France alive and kicking -- and incite him to try in France what he tried in Jordan. Now THAT would be a wake up call!

Was there any particular strategy in paying ransom to Abu Sayyaf terrorists in the Phillippines?
