Bush's statement is incredibly saddening. He is absolutely terrified of the Arab Street. It controls his actions and words. He is its prisoner.

President Bush called Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's condemnation of terrorism an "incredibly positive sign" Wednesday.

As I said before, Bush can speak for himself.

Very disappointing Mr. President. Arafat is and will remain a terrorist...it is just that simple.

I WANT TO FREAKING SCREAM!!!!!! HAS BUSH GONE MAD ??!!

President Bush, say something intelligent like "Arafat has shown that his words are meaningless and that he is a pathological liar in the extreme."

There's a great thread posted by kattracks about How Arafat Blew It, by Thomas Lipscomb.

Here's a great quote from the article:

The essence of understanding "oriental war" is watching what the participants do rather than what they say -- a talent lacking in journalists and intellectuals with a primary talent for arguing over the parsing of political statements only they take seriously

President Bush called Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's condemnation of terrorism an "incredibly positive sign" Wednesday. He urged Israel to consider the consequences of retaliating for the latest suicide bombing.

President Bush needs to just shut up and let the PM of Israel handle it. "Consider the consequences of retaliating?" Give me a *@&^$*@ break! Bomb them back to the stone ages. They must be shown they cannot simply walk into the stores and threaters and blow people up with no retaliation in return. An eye for an eye. Very simple. Very positive. Very plane. I cannot understand how Bush now says Israel cannot defend its self from this stuff yet we are doing exactly the same thing. Just unbelieveable. Totally.

A caller on Rush's show today listed the 11 things that Bush has flip-flopped on. They were:

1. Campaign Finance Reform

2. Utah Monuments

3. Education Bill

4. Farm Bill

5. Food stamps for immigrants

6. Unemployment benefits extension

7. Let Pickering bet Borked

8. Didn't campaign for Schundler

9. Abandoned Bush doctrine in middle east

10. Steel tariffs

11. Airport security bill

To that I add supported the RINO in California against the conservative Bill Simon; making pals with the communist Fat Teddy Kennedy; becoming a bigger liberal than most Blue Dog Democrat socialists; giving the socialist their agenda while abandoning a conservative agenda; not telling Colin Powell to shut up and support the team or get the hell off the team, a total lack of guts; failure to show guts on #1 above by failing to veto this unConstitutional law; and finally, by allowing Tom Dash-hole to become the pain in the butt he has become because Bush does not have a set big enough to call Dash-hole (who openly said about conservatives and republicans as "right wing") a socialist that he is.

So, some can flame me on for all you want. I voted for Bush and would again simply because of the alternative, but I have had it with his liberalism. I hate liberals, socialists and communist and cannot support someone who continues to do their agenda for them. It is destroying this country and our way of life.

Flame on

Yes, I am well aware that the US "policy" in the Middle East has been described as a "rope-a-dope," intended to keep our squishy "allies" like Saudi Arabia from getting off the reservation until it is time to squash Saddam Hussein like a cockroach in a corner. But this is going too far.

The only "incredibly positive" thing that Yassir Arafat could do would be to shoot himself in the head. If we had had CNN during WW II, would they have run statements of German or Japanese condemnation of "unfortunate atricities" that were not "our intentions."?

Even assuming a rope-a-dope "policy," this statement by President Bush is "incredibly stupid." Keep in mind that part of the Church of the Nativity "negotiations" include Palestinian trials for some of the gunmen who took over the Church. I distinctly recall that the Taliban offered at one point to conduct "trials" of any Al Qeada members who were "reliably" charged with any crimes.

I'm sure that happened. It was in all the papers, And what was the response to this same "morally clear" President Bush to that proposal? It was a bomb for you, a bomb for you, and a bomb for the other guy, with a few bullets thrown in, until the problem was solved, and "peace" was created. (Notice I do not say peace was restored. There was none there to be restored.)

So Bush is insisting that Israel do exactly the opposite of what the United States did, when faced with proportionally the same provocation. This is not merely wrong. This is bullsh*t. My fear is that Bush will say such patently stupid things so often that he might begin to believe them.

Powell may beleive them. But Condi Rice knows better. Secretary Rumsfeld knows better. VP Cheney knows better. And Bush should know better -- SO STOP MOUTHING SUCH CRAP!

I feel much better, now. Thanks.

We're at war, everyone. It would be stupid for the President to always say what he really thinks. The fuse may be lit for world war.
Is this the first time Arafat has made such a statement in Arabic, or not? I don't mind if the President pretends to believe. We have to maintain some control, and that means diplomacy for awhile longer.

P.A. Condemns "Timing" Of The Attack http://www.israelnationalnews.com/

CNN and other world media repeatedly reported that the Palestinian Authority had "strongly condemned" the attack.

In fact, however, the PA statement mainly emphasized the attack's bad "timing" and its negative "public relations" value, but said nothing about the shedding of innocent blood.

The statement read,

"The Palestinian leadership strongly condemns the violent attack against Israeli civilians in a public hall in Rishon LeTzion. The timing of this dangerous attack against Israeli civilians at a time when Sharon meets with the American president is aimed at supporting Sharon's claims it is impossible to make peace with the Palestinian people. And to stamp our people with terrorism and to excuse Sharon and his government from spilling Palestinian blood in the Jenin refugee camp and all of the areas, cities, camps and villages that did not stop until this hour... And we will not go easy with these groups that commit these operations that harm our people and our cause severely.. These attacks will allow Sharon to be armed with all the excuses to launch this bloody destructive war against our masses... The leadership declares clearly its rejection and condemnation of these attacks and considers the groups that are launching them to be working against the interest of the Palestinian people, that it needs to rapidly limit it from harming the Palestinian cause and the national destiny, and to block the path of these terrorist crimes that our people pay the price for."

Words are cheap. Arafat has said similar things before, and kept his word--for maybe two or three days. Anyone he arrests is usually out of jail in a few days, too.
