It is not that they need tax cuts or they are leaving. It is that other places gave them the tax cuts and they left. Just as every industry you just mentioned.

That is one large reason why no one manufactures much of anything here anymore. If you wish a total economic meltdown to create the change you wish, than you are in a great minority. I am in the health business, and my wife and I own a small manufacturing business. I don't want to lose my house and see my children go without to satisfy a perverted sense of justice.

I think all the brave souls who wish the destruction of the economy should volunteer to give up their houses, life savings, and creature comforts first.

Calm down, they're not going *anywhere*... they *already* film on locations outside CA... it's the management, the pre and post production, that's done in LA... and those people are *not* moving to Canada, not matter *how* many times Baldwin and Co. promise us they will...

I say raise their taxes.

Actually, my business isn't involved in the reprobate behavior and wholesale perversity that Hollywierd is involved in.

You argue for keeping Hollywierd in the PRK. Why? Is the money more important than the principle?

I can be "glib" because I don't kneel down and service the Hollywierd Agenda.

I am calm.

I have a large number of business associates who are employed in production work here. They all work here on current productions.

As far as only the management and post production happening in California, I think you are greatly mistaken.

Without knowing what business you are in, it is hard to tell what connection you might have to a state that accounts for almost a seventh of the US economy.

Ah...perhaps Hollywierd can understand how the rest of us lives.

Taxes, taxes, taxes.

I am not sure if you mean "studio" or seudo" titans. LOL.

Everything is about money in "Hollywood". If there was money in it, they would make their movies in Bangladesh.

For the same reason Silicon Valley will always be Silicon Valley, LA will always be LA... synergy.

I have an idea.

Since these Commies never sawa tax they didn't like....let's assess any movie filmed outside the US a MAJOR penalty in taxes. Make it Soooo painful, that domestic filming looks viable. (100% on the gross cost of filming?..or a piece of the gross at the box worldwide sound good?)

We can say "It's for the chilluns'!"

Hell, even "Meathead" Reiner might buy in if we pitch it as a way to help pay for the health costs of kids smoking.

The hell with these pinkos...if you like it so much better out there...don't let the door hit ya' where the good lord split ya'.

Let them see the taxes that Canada would levy on them.

Maybe a tax on them will help them see the light....< snicker >...oh, damn..I couldn't keep a straight face typing that!

napa... Not true... I will be producing a show for a U.S. network which will be entirely shot, edited, and mixed in Manitoba. The delivery copies will be dubbed in Vancouver. The only Americans on the staff will be me and the host...

I have to do this to pay for my mortgage and my kids here is Los Angeles... I have no desire to spend three months away in Canada, but I need the work.

What's unfortunate is that my usual cadre of production staff here is Los Angeles will not be allowed to join me. It will be an entirely Canadian production. My associates that I would normally hire will not get the work from me this time.

This is becoming a trend and a lot of people behind the scenes are out of work... We need tax incentives... ARA

We need tax incentives.

No you don't. You need to lower your costs. I don't want to pay or your extravagance.

Would you care to tell me what "My extravagances" are?

I don't fly first class... My kids don't go to a private school (unfortunately)... and my wife works... ARA

It is the height of arrogance to assume that the so-called "entertainment industry" leaving for Canada would severely and adversely affect 'seven-tenths of the US economy'.

These studio jerks who reap millions upon millions and cry poor-mouth when testifying in Congress that their parents can't afford a water bottle make me sick. How much does Eisner make and why is his illegal immigrant gardener only making $10,000 a year? What socially redeeming trait does Woody Harrelson posess?

Don't take it so personally, I'm not singling you out... but tell me, how much money does the USA Network pay it's executive staff? How much do they pay for office space? How much do they spend on executive perk's? How many lunches, dinners and limos do USA Network staff expense? How many of their meetigns are catered? Where do they hold their sales meetings?

Cry me a river...

This isn't good news for the thousands of american crews who get put out of work. Producers flee to foreign locales such as canada or australia for the cheap dollar or tax credit those countries give out.
