Thanks for the post. Many may not know that Scott Hahn was dean (I believe that was his post) of a Presbyterian Seminary who set out to prove by scripture that Catholics were wrong. As he studied the scriptures and the writings of the early fathers of the church, his mind was opened by the Holy Spirit. As much as he tried to fight it, he became a believer. His search for truth brought him to the Church Jesus Christ instituted, and to Simon, who Jesus renamed as Peter when he said "You are PETER (petra=translated as Rock), and upon this Rock I will build my Church". My hope and prayer is that those who love Jesus as Lord and Savior will do as Scott Hahn did,and honestly search for and be open to the truth...that they put aside the prejudices that may have been engrained in their minds by teachers, following men "who's ideas Tickled their ears", as they rebelled against the authority given by Jesus to Peter and his successors in the Catholic Church, and splintered the Body of Christ into so many different "Man made" denominations. Their love of Jesus is unquestioned, but they are truly missing out on the true Passover banquet by refusing to believe the words of Jesus in the sixth chapter of John.

There is so much written about the REAL PRESENCE of Christ in the Eucharist (Transubstantiation) by the early Fathers, one wonders how anyone, who studies Church history with an open mind and heart to the truth, can miss the consistent teaching.

I had a thread I was on last week where a guy said that when Jesus said "That unless you eat my flesh and drink my blood you have no life in you" was OBVIOUSLY metaphorical. I pointed out all the references to the Holy Eucharist throughout the gospels, and pointed to the early church fathers where they obviously took Jesus literally and therefore we share the Last Supper with Him daily or weekly.

Do you by chance have passages you have used that Protestants take LITERALLY when they are far less clear or emphatic as The Gospel of John?

OR, steer me in the right direction. Thanks and God bless.

P.S. Does anyone know why many Protestants will not post "God" but instead "G*d?"

If the doctrine in question does not agree with Protestant theology, they will not take the bible literally. Scott Hahn has made the statement often that it is the Catholic Church that is the one that REALLY takes the bible literally. No matter what we RCs say as to the interpretation of scripture, if it is sacramental in nature, for the most part, if not entirely, it is rejected by the protestants.

I think these might be "Jews for Jesus" sometimes called "Messianic Jews". If not, it is just a form of Fear of the Lord. Old testament Jews would not write the entire name Yahweh. They would leave out the vowels. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Considering this, my question is, since the incarnation, is this form of not writing God's name still a mandate? I don't believe so. I've never seen any of them write J*S*S and He IS GOD.

Just MHO!

Don't forget that many of Jesus' disciples left Him when he suggested that they had to "Eat His Flesh and Drink His Blood" to have eternal life. They thought His teaching too hard. What makes us think everyone will accept His teaching today. [Luke 16:31] 'If they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should rise from the dead.'

Thought for the Day

Since Christ Himself has said, "This is My Body" who shall dare to doubt that It is His Body?
