We don't care for UT a whole lot but we don't play them much.

I heard an interview with Taylor last night locally, he said he voted for himself last night. Before he voted for others and himself. Didn't say who, but I would think Elliot and Bucky.

Oh, yesterday Brian kilmeade was on Rick and Bubba. He said all of the top 12 that were already off the show said that Taylor should win and they thought he would. He said all of the males said one sentence about Katharine. That she was HOT. :)

Thanks WT.. I was really wondering. I kinda thought AU would like UT because of the UA/UT rival. The old "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" kinda thing.

Whew..I'm exhausted! I fell asleep at the phone last night around 11:15 and woke up after 12:00 so I couldn't vote anymore! I only made it thru for Taylor about 5 or 6 times :( And have been reading this thread all morning!

I sooo hope the Taylor wins predictions are right. I'm almost embarassed to say that I'm almost as nervous as when waiting on Presidential election results! lol

I'm an Alabama fan, my hubby is an Auburn fan and we both do not care for Tennessee. Auburn fans also don't like Georgia. :) Probably why they turned the water hoses on them a few years back. :)

Do you mean Barbara Streisand? Just a studio singer? Have you ever seen "Hello Dolly"? Funny Girl?

Actually I haven't but you make my point. Movies are studio productions, not live events.

Barbra is not big on live performances and she made her mark and sold recrods and CDs based on her voice, not her stage presence and personality. Her movies were not what sold her songs. She was, IMHO, the greatest female vocalist of her time which lasted until Celine and Whitney came along. She had a great run.

When Taylor finishes singing, he's so happy. Like it was the best few minutes of his life. He loves music and it shows. Kat is just too contrived for my taste. There seems to be no real there there.

I agree. Kat acts like she just wants to know how everyone likes her performance. Taylor loves the music.

Oh no kidding. When I read that she said she had been in a lot of therapy to find herself (or something like that) I was amazed. She is only 22 FGS!

It's LA after all. How sad.

When she first began I was emailing with my 20 something daughter. We've been sharing this show long distance since the first year.

I emailed to my daughter that Katherine seemed to keep her head down and cover her face with her hair. That she didn't seem to have confidence in herself.

She is presenting herself better now, but it seems so contrived.

Being around young girls you kind of get an instinct about their psyche.

And no, I'm not a psychiatrist, nor do I play one on TV....LOL....just a mom!

I read that Taylor said he voted for Elliott a few times and even voted for Kat early on.

Taylor's soul is what he's all about. Heart, big heart.

One of the guys even gave Elliott his own good luck charm. Not sure what it was, a stuffed mascot or something.

I think all the guys loved Elliott.

He earned their affection, IMO.

When you hear him on the Encore CD you will hear an amazing voice too.

Ms Emily,

Thank you very much for the praise, makes the long write-up worth it.

Here's a little spoiler for tonight according to the Birmingham News --- TAYLOR HICKS WILL PERFORM "IN THE GHETTO" WITH TONI BRAXTON TONITE.

http://www.al.com/search/index.ssf?/base/entertainment/114846214679230.xml?birminghamnews?etv_idol&coll=2&thispage=2

No holiday; Taylor's family there for support

As you read this, the performances will be over and the Hicks family will have voted their fingers sore on their cell phones, trying to make sure Taylor wins. And, like the rest of America, they'll be waiting anxiously for the results to be announced.

Linda Hicks, Taylor's mother, admits that her last month's cell phone bill was 52 pages long and cost about $300 - well over her extended plan limit. Brad Hicks, Taylor's father, doesn't like electronic doodads, but he recently learned how to text message and use a cell, just for a little added voting insurance.

"This isn't a vacation," Brad Hicks says. "This trip is about Taylor and about the show."

One of Taylor's song choices this week was made by his brother, Sean Hicks, who recommended "Levon" for the "Idol" playlist.

According to Brad and Linda, Sean realized the tune was a keeper after seeing his brother's performance of the Elton John-Bernie Taupin ballad at Birmingham's WorkPlay theater.

The family dismisses any notion of jealousy between the two siblings, saying that Taylor and Sean are too tight for such nonsense. Sean encouraged his brother to audition for "Idol" and remains "very supportive and extremely happy," Linda Hicks says.

"I think Sean feels so involved in all of this," Brad Hicks says. "He's an integral part of the process."

The demands of the "Idol" rehearsal schedule have been heavy, the family says, and have kept Taylor from spending much time with his loved ones this week.

"He's got a job to do," Brad Hicks says. "We'll have a family reunion when he has the time to do it."

One thrill, the family says, was meeting legendary record producer Clive Davis. They're also looking forward to seeing Taylor perform "In the Ghetto" on the finale with Toni Braxton.

When asked about the Soul Patrolman's plans after the "Idol" fireworks die down, his family mentions media interviews, a trip to New York City and maybe - just maybe - a few days of R&R at the beach.

"He wants some down time, to relax," Linda Hicks says. "Taylor wants to be a normal person for a while."
