What people do in the privacy of their own home is no business of mine.

Excellent. We see eye to eye on that. Personally, I have no use for drugs at all, (except coffee - don't get between me and my coffee pot) but have even less use for the trampling on the constitution that has come along with the WoD.

Don't give me that "Drug Warrior" crap. I've seen what drugs have done to friends and some of my family.

And I've seen what perfectly legal substances have done to friends and some of my family. With freedom comes responsibility, and admittedly some free people bent on destroying themselves. Our country was founded on the promise of a free society, not a perfect one.

OTOH, I do remember a report way back that said the single biggest danger of doing drugs, the single biggest thing about them that will destroy your life, is what the government will do to you if you're caught.

but as long as I'm breathing, I will tell any, and everyone that drugs are destructive, and they have zero benefit to society

Which drugs? As an example, the LSD was used therapuetically by psychiatrists quite successfully until the government found out that people were having fun with it and made it illegal.

and I will do whatever it takes to keep that crap away from my kids.

Well, we at least agree there, although I will add most legal drugs to the definition of "crap." While I believe that the racist, rights-abolishing, big money-making War on (Some) Drugs should stop immediately, that stuff's coming nowhere near my house. It is a personal choice of mine, as it should be in a free society.

Do you ingest caffeine, nicotine, or alcohol on a regular basis? If so, then your crusade against your kids doing any drugs is hypocritical. Also since your son was already an adult at the time, shouldn't he be able to do what he wants as long as he's not living under your roof?

pretend that alcohol is not the most abused drug in America.

How about caffeine? How about nicotine, since it's worse in ways that cocaine and heroin according to dangerousness factors that drugs are measured by.

I truly don't understand why we think lying is an effective drug policy.

Unfortunately, most adults tend to underestimate the intelligence of children.

Banning pot wasn't about drugs. "It was about power", -- as libertarians put it.

It was about racism and profits.

Yes, he was an adult at the time, but he was living under my roof, and with my rules!

"Passive or direct drug pushing people kill or ruin lives though as they entice children and others into making it sound safe and attractive to get into recreational drugs."

Was I engaging in any "passive or direct drug pushing" in my post or suggesting that anyone else do that, whatever the hell it is you meant by that? It's a good thing you don't do any drugs, CA Guy. You're running low enough on brain cells as it is.

Translation: Tobacco products kicked out of government workplaces.

Translation: Two million VW Bugs puffed, IOW, smokers spent enough money on cigarettes to buy that many cars.

Translation: Evil tobacco companies raining down their products, the flowers that are dying include strength, national health and national wealth.

Why do they call it DOPE?....

Cart and horse. "Dope" began its meaning in the English language referring to a sauce or gravy.

Has anyone here actually seen a drug "pusher"? For the most part they just hang out and wait for those who want the product to come buy it.

You want to talk "pushers"? Talk about big pharma and the millions (billions?) they spend each year on advertising and free samples at the doctor's office.

And, I have NO problem with it - in fact I applaud your unwavering stance. THAT is exactly what families and parents are for.

However, I have ALOT of problem when the government does it. It ain't their job.

And, as for me, I have had many, many more friends have thier lives ruined by legal alcohol than all other drugs combined.

Taking drugs is not a Conservative value. Maybe you need to go to DU. It's just down the hall, to your left. Close the door behind you, though. I'd hate for all their pot smoke to leak out into the hall.

Get a dictionary and look up the etymology of "dope."

The truth about drugs is bad enough, especially when it comes to the hard stuff. We have to stop with the lies and exaggerations because that tactic too often ends with exactly the opposite of the intended results.

(applause!)

Thank you for your hard work and for plainly speaking the truth.
