DU Tactics at FreeRepublic
FreeRepublic | 4/3/07 | Reaganesque

Posted on 04/03/2007 7:24:18 PM PDT by Reaganesque

It is always disappointing to be reminded that there are people in the world who do not like you so much that they are willing to debase themselves and others in order to get their way. We, as conservatives face this from the Left on a day to day basis. But when such action comes from another supposed Conservative, that is truly disappointing.

The posters at DU think nothing of swearing and posting the most filthy, perverted and twisted things about their political rivals. We here at FR are, for the most part, better than that. At least we try to be. Unfortunately, there's always someone who proves that both sides have their ugly side.

I have posted a number of pro-Mitt Romney threads recently as have many others. I discovered this afternoon that several of them have been the victims of childish and down right purile dirty tricks. Now, political dirty tricks are nothing new and nor are they uncommon on either side of the aisle. But some simply cross the line of decency. Such is the case with whomever played their little game of messing with the Keywords on these Pro-Romney threads. Here are four examples:

Romney Tops Republicans in Fundraising
KEYWORDS: ANTICHRIST; CULT; FUNDRAISING; MITTRAPESCHILDREN; ROMNEY; Click to Add Keyword

Why I Think You Should Vote For My Dad
KEYWORDS: 2008; ELECTIONPRESIDENT; ELECTIONS; MITTBEATSHISKIDS; MITTISTHEANTICHRIST; ROMNEY; Click to Add Keyword

Parsing the Polls: Answering the Mormon Question

KEYWORDS: CULT; JOEYSMITHDELUSION; Click to Add Keyword

Romney-Thompson Ticket?

KEYWORDS: ELECTION; FRED; FREDTHOMPSON; MITTISTHEANTICHRIST; ROMNEY; THOMPSON; VP; Click to Add Keyword

People, campaigning can be a hard and painful thing. You have to have a thick skin to run for office and heaven knows, all candidates take their blows, some more than others. But there is such a thing as decency. And this little prank doesn't just cross that line, it obliterates it.

Disagree with the thread? Fine. Present your arguments. You don't like the candidate? Great. Tell me why and make an attempt at intelligent conversation. That's the way this place is supposed to work. But, resorting to such sophomoric, vulgar and quite frankly bigoted childishness is beneath contempt. If you can't manage a reasonable level of maturity, then there's a whole bunch of like minds over at DU you can have fun with.

” would like to hear more from Thompson. I think he has the media savvy which is essential in this day and age, the name recognition, and frankly, the acting ability to pull the job off.
I’d like to see Hunter on the ticket, to gain experience and name recognition, as well as bring his experience in having been in and in dealing with the military, as well as his conservative stance on other issues.

Strictly on the issues, so far Hunter is my pick.”

Well, you and I will have to get used to being called a

brownshirt
right wing fanatic
one issue candidate
Hillary supporter
fringe conservative
idealistic and unrealistic

did I miss any? : )

NOBODY has been banned from here for being a Rudy fan.

However there have been calls for mass banning. On this very thread even.

Social moderates are not welcome here.

What is a social moderate?

Tax payer funded abortions only on Tuesday and Thursday.

Mandatory waiting periods on gun purchases except on Saturdays?

Gay marraiges, but only on Wednesdays?

You are making the widea$$es scared, and they are pulling threads! LMAO!

But...but...they aren't an anti-FR site, why would they have to pull threads? I guess they will have to slink back into the shadows to plan their pot-stirring crap, but enough of us saw and copied the pages and we know who most of them are now.

Oh, no. I’m dead serious. Freepers were convinced that Alan Keyes was going to win the nomination.

Oh, and instead of pictures of Rudy in drag, we were treated to continuous insinuations that Bush snorted coke. Even the forum owner participated in those threads and said that.

So you can understand why I have zero fear that what’s going on here will translate to the outside world.

It started only around a month ago and it already seems to be a common term here (on FR)?

If their MadIvan is the same as the MadIvan here, it probably isn't all that bad, though still have yet to look at actual normal threads.

Off topic, sort of, but why would people use exactly the same username?

Have either of you ever heard the story of the woman who told her children not to put beans up their nose? I’m guessing you haven’t.

I knw Wideawake fairly well, too, including m access to the inner sanctum, you know, those private areas only members can get to. One of the members gave me special access any time I’d like. It’s kind of fun to troll around when I am really bored. It doesn’t make me member, though, does it?

If the LP could get that in a presiential year, then they’d be taken seriously.

There are several DU posters here. Some of the posts are identical to ones posted on DU.

It's not that they disagree, it's the way they do it.  DU'ers are very low class..

Unappeasable. Don't forget that one. If you want your candidate to be at LEAST 50% conservative, you are considered "unappeasable".

At my guestimation, Rudy McRomney are hovering around the 30-40% range. Not what we need...

Well said!! And so true.

Where have we gotten with social conservatism in terms of abortion? Nowhere. The states are having much more success with that than the feds have had in 30+ years.

And spending, don’t even get me started.

The thread has been saved and forwarded to where it needs to go. I’ll send it to you via freepmail when I can.

They sure are scrambling over there to cover their anti-freeeping, aren’t they?

Over there posters don't have to put up with being called Rutards, old hags, Desperate Housewives, be accused of "needing a good lay", be exposed to constant spam, etc. FR used to have rules but they are clearly being ignored and not enforced, and that can only be happening because the word came down to let the forum fight it out. And some people don't like that kind of fighting.

Is puppy killers OK? I really like the puppy killer charge.

Haven’t you noticed how most of the nastiest posters who pretend to be perfect conservatives don’t ever support candidates who have actually announced or could actually win? There’s something a little off there.

Actually I've noticed the fiercest don't support anyone, whether they could win or not.
