I agree that we need to move the crowd to the right. In fact I agree with just about everything in your post, especially the schools. We give our children's minds to the liberals to fill with mush. That has gotta stop.

And I agree with your assessment of politicians who only have one goal and that is to be re-elected. But do you know why?

Reason #1 --------Ego

Reason #2 --------Ego

Reason #3 --------Ego

Those are the only reasons that politicians are there. That is why they are nearly interchangable with actors, they are driven by the same motivations. Everyone has to love them or their poor little feelings are hurt. Actors don't have courage, ergo, neither do politicians.

I couldn't rant on about my opinions about the worthless dregs that we have elected, but it wouldn't change a thing. What needs to be addressed is the course that we take to change it.

The system provides the means to accomplish our goals, and it was designed that way. In the primary election season you choose a candidate, you spend your time, energy and money to do everything within your power for him/her to get the nomination. In the primary, you have the great priviledge to vote for the best choice.

In the general election you have the opposite charge. You have the duty and obligation to hold your nose, close your eyes, shut your mouth, and vote AGAINST the worst candidate. Hopefully, sometimes, the name next to your mark is the same as in the primary. But even if it isn't, now isn't the time to complain. You had your chance to get your candidate elected and you failed, now make the most of a bad situation.

Does the system work, not always. When people fail to get involved and don't work hard enough for the best candidate, then we get what we deserve. But is the system the best yet devised by mankind? You bet. If you want to see better candidates, start now for the 2004 elections to locate and convince the best people to run. In fact it isn't too early for 2006 or 2008 either.

But third party people are never going to win. Ours is a two party system, always was, and always will be. Wishing for anything else is not gonna be productive.

Please note how I am prostrate before the altar of BADJOE...as we all have to hold out tongues while he posts threads like this and tries to run down FR.NOT!!He and his supporters deserve a kick in the ass, not thanks.

Get you head out of your ass, shakes.Keep up the brownosing as it must make for tremendous internet chatter amongst the 65 libertarian/fringe nutbars that call themselves the "true conservatives" and have elected exactly how many people to office???

"...voting your conscience is the essence of democracy..."

To: gcruse
Are you implying that if we don't vote like you do, we're not voting our conscience?
# 2578 by Howlin
*************************

I wouldn't say that at all.

I will say that if the "conservative" man you vote for promotes socialist policies when he gets into office, and you then defend his socialist policies, you're not a conservative.

And therin lies the rub.

Their pure virtuosity doesn't amount to squat because they HAVE no candidates. They HAVE no wins. They HAVE no constituency. They HAVE no power.

But boy oh boy are they going to teach the populace. They're going to MOVE us to THEIR position.

Sort of reminds me of a clique back when I was in high school. This little group was always disgruntled. Always unhappy. Always looking to make a monumental issue out of the most mundane. And you know why? Because that was all they had. No other friends. No other agenda. No other reason for being.

But wow did they think they were superior to all others.

Sad, really.

Yah just gotta love that attitude, we have no wins so that automatically makes us wrong.  I swear some of you people are no different than the most liberal dems.  You don't really care what your guy does once he gets in office as long as he's "YOUR GUY".

Clinton cut welfare, but the dems didn't care they still loved him.  Bush gives away our money to farm subsidies but you all don't care because he's a Repub.  Party before principle that's what it is called.

And you're correct, for the most part we have no power, no wins, but we're right and one day you'll realize that.  Maybe when Bush is signing that illegal alien amnesty bill he wanted so bad.

Of course, your use of the word "socialist" is a liberal tactic, trying to make yourself look better than everybody else, all knowing, when, in fact, it makes you look petty and ill informed, not to mention trite.

To imply that George W. Bush is a socialist shows your true intentions, to destroy this party and country.

I'm rather glad you're not on our side; I prefer being on the side of people trying to do the best they can in the circumstances they find themselves in, acknowledging their weaknesses and working to better this country, rather than sitting around, bitching and moaning, doing nothing and letting the country go to hell in a handbasket all the while pretending like anybody will notice if you don't vote.

I'm not going to play that word game with you.

If you told anybody outside the forum that Bush was a socialist they'd tell you you were a fool.

Your mistake is believing that FR represents the world and everybody agrees with you.

"A third party conservative candidate was more conservative than the Republican candidate, and stole enough votes from the Republican to allow a Democrat to take the Presidency.

We won Congress because the Republican leadershp noticed where those votes were lost.

Voting for a third party gets results."

Hopefully...someone WILL notice this interesting fact.....but then again....

I'm talking about here at FR Bub.  I've seen Joe do plenty of work here, but I haven't seen any from you.

I'll be the first to admit I haven't done anything here, course I haven't been badmouthing the people that have either.

Don't know of CEDAW, fill me in?

But if Smith didn't hold the favor of Eugene, Salem, & Portland, he'd be unelectable - it's pretty much that simple.

This region needs some reeducation, no doubt about that, but it's too easy for folks to just ride on the decent economy, which doesn't exactly reflect that of the state as a whole. At the Eugene based company where I work, a well known capital goods retailer, business is booming. My valley customers are buying like crazy (and paying their bills). Get out of the valley though, out into the red areas, and folks are struggling to keep their businesses alive. I think government policy has a lot to do with these circumstances (they know on which side their bread is buttered, the urban areas are the easy money, it's as simple as that).

It'd be nice to see a majority of our political body work to undo that which has caused the blight on the rural economy but I fully understand how it is between a rock and a hard place. I live & work in Eugene because, years ago, government steered my hometown's economy away from a year round lumber base to a tourism base that offered 5 months max employment per year. I despise the leftist culture here, but a guy's gotta eat (and I reckon a Senator does too).

OK.....here's the deal.

Who picked the judges?

Johnson 1
Ford 5
Nixon 7
Carter 38
GW Bush 59
Vacancies 95
Reagan 142
Bush 156
Clinton 359

NOW.......you tell ME what the score is. If that isn't enough to motivate all the 3rd party voters to help re-take the Senate....then so be it. I just don't want to hear any of you bitching about much of anything.

CEDAW is the bill that cedes judicial authority to the United Nations for USA women's issues. So if a woman can't get 'justice' in the United States courts..she can bring her lawsuit to the UN court. And if she wins, it is legally binding in the USA. And it's all tied up nice and legal.

And he was paid. And he has posted two threads for public consumption that have run down FR.So, why should I care what he HAS done when what he IS doing is attacking FR?

You expect us to give him loyalty when he doesn't extend it to the man and forum that provided him a platform and a level of notoriety he wouldn't have otherwise? And for this observation, you, bright spark, accuse me of badmouthing?
