Boy, you got that right. I think Cal Ripken was the last of the classy guys. It's a shame that our kids won't have the same kind of people we had to look up to. Brooks Robinson used to do appearances all the time for kids. Eddie Murray started a day camp and actually SHOWED UP to be with the kids. These guys were like neighbors. Now our kids have Barry Bonds, the steroid boys, the newly-rich thugs....almost makes me want to cry.

Okay, I see where you're coming from now. I'm still not sure if I agree with your basic characterization, though. My impression is that liberals are both irrational and hysterical, while conservatives are rational and composed. I think Rush is colorful but not out-of-control in any way -- but then that's probably not what you're contending either.

You're probably thinking of some liberal intellectual type serenely explaining some absurd social theory to us, while a conservative, like a Rush Limbaugh, is totally exasperated that the lib can't see his own nuttiness. In that sense I would agree with you. But to me it would be just as easy to think of a rational and reasonable David Horowitz being shouted down by a bunch of emotional leftists. Both of these scenarios seem typical to me.

There's a range personalities on either side but ultimately I think it boils down to arguments and reasoning. I think the personalities that are attracted to conservatism will generally be rational and reasonable simply because conservatism itself tends to be that way.
