I CAN’T BEEEEELEEEEVE! I CAN’T BEEEEELEEEEVE! I CAN’T BEEEEELEEEEVE at this late date that the DUmmies have yet ANOTHER “I BEEEELEEEVE” THREAD going in DUmmieland. As you may remember, DUmmie Doohickie started several “I BELIEVE” threads following last November’s election in which he and others expressed their FERVENT belief that John Kerry would be inaugurated on Jan. 20. This series of threads continued until about he middle of January when even DUmmie Doohickie was bowled over by harsh reality. So now it is almost 6 months since Inauguration Day and we have ANOTHER “I BEEELEEEVE” thread. So are they trying to create their own reality of going back in a time machine and from that point creating a new reality of Kerry being inaugurated? No. The new “I BEEELEEEVE” theme eschews any specificity whatever in favor of a general feel-good theme along the lines of “I BEEELEEEVE the Baddies will be driven from power and then good stuff gotta happen.” I BEEELEEEVE the DUmmie yearnings are in Bolshevik Red while the commentary of your humble correspondent, hardly BELIEVING that the DUmmies are willing to make themselves such laughingstocks again, is in the [brackets]:

I believe a few things are true at this moment in history.

[Start the drum roll for the punchlines…]

First, that the theft of the election of 2004 continues to grow more evident and obvious, and that the grand forces of history are joined with the energy of a great many passionate Americans who won’t rest under the rotten mantle that has settled upon us.

Second, that the anti-democratic forces that have managed to gain a grip on the three branches of our federal government, intimidate the press out of being the watchdogs they have historically been, and who brought us to war on the basis of lies and their ability to game all the national and international systems, have made a fatal error. They have underestimated the decency of Americans.

You can’t really blame them; they themselves don’t possess that decency.

The decency to say that any system that allows innocent people to be tortured to death, because of our suffering and fear, is not what we stand for.

The decency to see the wisdom of the way the U.S. Constitution apportions the power to send American men and women onto the battlefield of war.

Allosaur, don't waste your time investigating Bev

 

I appreciate your input. It appears to me, all of sudden I have to defend myself. I have never been interested in anything but the computer code of this allegation. Soothing Dave somehow thinks I am not giving Bev the opportunity he thinks she deserves. She offered. I and another FReeper accepted the opportunity to look at the code and haven't heard anything since. Now she is trying to make it look like I am making her beholding to me. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

 

Kinda got my dander up when I was accused of not giving Bev the benefit of the doubt. She invited Me and Nonlinear, we merely asked questions regarding her so called "proof'. Since then we have heard absolutely nothing. Then all of sudden we're pickin on her. That is not the case. All I was doing was replying to an inquiry from another FReeper who wanted to know the latest. There is no latest, we haven't heard a word from her camp. Today is the first time she has bothered to address this since the initial inquiry. All of sudden I'm told she said a month. That is not what I understood to be the case. I thought she was going to let me "look' at the "code". I would assume this would have happened prior to her making some kind of report.

When I was teenager, I spent a lot of time in Manhattan.  Now back in the 80's, it was popular for a small crew to setup a game of "3 Card Monté" on top of a cardboard box on a street corner and encourage passersby to guess where the face card (or sometimes a ball under a shell) was located after a little shuffling.  The first few times the chump player could guess without any obligation.  And it was amazing how often the player could guess the right card.  Meanwhile, the dealers crew (other players working with the dealer but acting as if they were some naive waifs) were betting with $20 bills and getting it wrong.

After a few hands, the dealer would ask the player to put up his own $20.  As you might imagine, this process would often lead to tourists being fleeced of sometimes over $100 in a few minutes.  At that time, the whole crew would literally run away with the chump standing there with an incredulous look.

Why do I tell you this story Allosaur?  'Cause I don't want you to be Bev's next chump.  Soon she'll be asking you for $20 to get you access to the code.  Oh, you want the code that actually compiles?  Well, that can be had for $50 more!  But wait, the output of the code doesn't demonstrate any kind of fraud?  That'll be another $50 for the technical explanation.

SoothingDave's been around a long time and he's a good guy.  He's doing the lawyerly thing looking out for his fellow FReepers.  Getting emotional sometimes leads to mistakes that are hard to repair.  That's all.

Apparently you don't know me very well. If you research my history here, you will find that would be an impossibility. Hell the best I could do at the last FR fundraiser was 10 bucks, and I care about FR! To tell you the truth I can't stand her, or what she is doing. I wanted to look at the code because I think she is full of horse nuggets.

 

Do you really think she is ever going to let anyone see this "evidence"? I knew this going in. She has been spouting this same crap since 2003, google it. Everything that has to do with voting machine manipulation has her name on it somewhere. I would think if there was any chance that there was in fact a chance this could happen there would be a hell of a lot more folks lookin into it than just BBV and Bev Harris, wouldn't you? It changes from machines to software, but it is basically the same story since 2003. Hell she's making a living at it. If she comes to some kind of conclusion, won't she be out of a job? Pretty amazing when you figure out it isn't costing her a dime out of pocket, she's living as a non profit.

 

I guarantee you, if I had the resources BBV has had in the last 2 years, I could have proved Bubba & Hitlery both had a sex change by now! If she does indeed have info, she's milkin it. There is no other excuse.

 

Even if she or one of her cohorts furnished any code, how would we know it came out of a voting machine? We wouldn't. If you go back thru the posts you will see exactly what we were requiring of her. It was a lot more than some computer code, and we're not going to pay a single nickel in order to see it either. She's the one with all the nickels,they were donated to prove something.

 

Unfortunately we are honest and have enough ethics that we don't take advantage of our peers, so we're never going to be rich on someone else's dime.

I've been here the whole time. If you go back and look, when Bev first put forth the suggestion that there was some manipulatable code in the memory cards, I was one of those asking questions about how this could be possible.

If you have followed this at all, Bev volunteered the info and then disappeared. I am not asking her to "jump" to my demands, she OFFERED it. Do you understand? I would like to think no one here jumps to conclusions before they know what the HELL they are talking about.

Here's what happened. Bev made a remark about this executable code in the memory cards. Several of us questioned how this could be possible. She said she was working on a report and asked what technical info we would think would be needed to prove her assertion.

The end. Period.

She made no claim to provid you special insider information immediately. You fabricated that out of your own imagination. Like I said on my last post, it was clear to me that she was talking about what to include in a report that would be forthcoming.

I have been in touch with various 'puter people who have direct involvement in this case and am waiting for you and your obvious pier to back up these allegations with some cold hard facts.

Bev is not my "pier," I was just as surprised as anyone when she appeared on the FUnnies. I, too, would like to see the evidence she is preparing for her report. But I am open-minded enough to give her a reasonable amount of time to prepare this report.

Why you would assume she was going to drop everything and release unvetted information directly to you is beyond me.

Unless you have something constructive to add to this I would appreciate it if you would leave me the hell alone. I got into this because of my knowledge of machine language, nothing else. If you follow this back to its source, you will find my interest is in whether or not this can be done from a purely scientific point of view. Screw politics. I want to see the mechanics of it.

If you would get off your high horse and go back and look at the record, this is exactly my interest as well. So don't annoint yourself the grand poobah of who is allowed to discuss this. I'm not going to "leave you the hell alone" as long as you are acting petulant because your demands have not been fulfilled instantly by Bev Harris.

She said she'd have a report this month. Can't you wait?

If it turns out she is blowing smoke, then that's the case. I am giving her a fair shot instead of letting her reputation, a reputation garnered from Andy Stepehenson and the DUmmies, prejudice me.

I could care less about yours or Bev's political aspirations. I was merely looking into whether or not what she was alleging is possible. It's not like she is some kind of contributing member of FR. She disagrees with our whole political philosophy. For you to be siding with the left astounds me. You have been here for years. Is it your opinion Bev Harris and her organization is trying to forward conservative views?

Again, my interest is in her technical claims. And, in case you weren't paying attention, she was alleging improprieties in a democrat-controlled county in Florida. I don't think the idea of having fair and honest elections is a democrat political position only. If she is truly exposing the potential for trickery, I welcome this.

Easy, big fella, how are you getting the idea I was chastising you? You jumped on ME for not cutting Bev some slack. You started it. I am only letting you know about my private mail because you accused me of "fabricating" a conversation with MS. Harris. I was letting you know I did no such thing. It's not nice to accuse a fellow FReeper without having all the facts. That is the only reason I discussed my private communications.

After reading some of your previous posts here at FR you appear to be an intelligent voice when the sh_t hits the fan on some of these threads. I admit I got my dander up a little prematurely but I certainly am not trying to chastise you for your comments. I get a little defensive when people accuse me of something that my ethics do not allow. In my opinion that is one of the tell tale behaviors that set us apart from the DUmmies of this world. ETHICS!

While I agree we should wait and see what Bev has to offer, you have to admit it is taking an inordinate amount of time to produce results given the time and money she has invested. A great deal of it is other peoples money. She did offer to let me and Nonlinear have a look at the code. Then she changed it to asking what we thought she ought to be included in her report, you would think she should be an expert this late in the game, then all we get is crickets chirping, then she jumps into a thread that makes me believe she lurks in the background, does a drive by and disappears again. Not my idea of good ethics. As a matter of fact I would say it is downright chicken sh_t!

There are a number of DemoncRats that use this type of strategy. How many times have you seen a liberal asked a question, only to have them change the subject, no matter how many times the host tries to get them to stay on subject? I find it appalling for anyone to start an argument then disappear and leave the combatants hanging with no resolution or answers to questions they themselves have interjected into the conversation.

I appreciate your criticisms, as it helps to keep all of us here at FR honest. I will hope you get to know me better, so you will know that in the future, if I add a point into a conversation I do so with all honesty intended, and with the facts I have in my possession at the time. To do anything other than that, is just wrong.

BTW, did you ever get an answer to why Xaos was ZOTTED the other day? I never heard anything more about it. Kinda makes us look intollerant just like the DUmmies and the folks over at CU say, don't it?
