I only skimmed this, but indeed that IS the "ultimate nightmare" scenario: nukes going off in half a dozen or so cities all at once.

I don't know how feasible it is - apparently the suitcase nukes degrade without regular maintenance (I remember reading something like that). I don't know. I'm sure there are those who would not flinch from doing this if they could.

I hope and pray our government is doing enough to protect us.

Dear Vincente

We see no difference between Terrorists and those that harbor them.

We may Liberate your Country next.

Al-Qaida has obtained at least 40 nuclear weapons from the former Soviet Union – including suitcase nukes, nuclear mines, artillery shells and even some missile warheads

And without regular maintenance they are really nifty doorstops.

assemble its own nuclear weapons with fissile material it purchased on Ebay

Yeah, right. Bunch of sheepherders whos idea of high tech is a can opener.

What they don't want to get through their heads is that the next 911 will be the last one. There won't be any Arabs left. Anywhere. We're not kidding.

"Psstph. If they had nukes here, they would have already been u"sed." Maybe they only have 20 nukes here and they are waiting until they get 25 in place.

I stopped reading at:

One suitcase bore the serial number 9999 and the Russian manufacturing date of 1988. The design of the weapons, Tenet told the president, is simple. The plutonium and uranium are kept in separate compartments that are linked to a triggering mechanism that can be activated by a clock or a call from the cell phone."

Cell phone triggers in 1988 ... I'm calling BS on this one

The open borders are a clear and present danger. However, the presence of 12 - 70 Al Qaeda working nuclear weapons is not plausible. I would think that radiation detection equipment would have triggered an alert in at least some of these cases if there was any attempt to move them into metropolitan areas. The shielding to prevent detection would make the weapons very difficult to impossible to move.

If the terrorist posess the capability of nuclear detonations, why are they screwing around with 10lb bombs strapped to their backs on London's mass-transit systems. Or why are they on-board flying missiles of mass destruction in the USA.

I just don't believe they have this amount of nuclear weaponry.

This is so depressing and disturbing. I'm in Atlanta (surely one of the "major cities"). There's no where to hide from nuclear terrorism.

I can't help but think back to last week - a man on a bycicle in Buchkead, taking movie pics of major intersections and the buildings surrounding the intersections. I reported this to 911; mmaybe I should have called Homeland security.

And yes, he appeared of middle Eastern descent. Light colored eyes.

Now why would President Bush ever think to use our military to protect us against organized and militarized invaders?

They're just the working poor looking to earn a living wage and to send their kids to decent schools.

Joseph Farrah, WND... 90% garbage, to put it generously. Nothing like a little hyperventilation brought on by exaggeration, lack of details and facts, and jumping to conclusions, eh? Barf.

I would hope that the US Government at the time would have the backbone to reply to any nuclear detonation in the US with a launch of nuclear MIRVs targeted for the major cities in the MidEast, starting with Mecca and Medina.

that and the fact of the limited amount of plutonium in a twenty year old suitcase nuke being able to acheive critical mass and actually light off.

But you have to plan that it could.

They (terrorists) probably wouldnt do such an event during the Bush administration...such a thing would be the equivalent to MAD. If they detonate several low yield atomic devices on our soil...we would, probably, summarily destroy the entire middle east, China, and everyone else that could take advantage of US after such a surprise attack.

Turn the republic over to Bin Laden and put on a blue burka headdress and dance around the bodies of the dead, chanting, Bin Loden is great, Bin Loden is good.

LMFAO. This poltroon morphs the eventual threat of a dirty bomb into an imminent threat of forty nuke strikes.

Farah is drinking the bong water again.

I agree. Funny how the cops can find my stolen car within 5 minutes (because it has lo-jack), but they can't find a bomb emitting tons of radiation. This story doesn't make sense.

Yeah...seems like an alarmist nutjub. A worst case scenario no doubt. Sad thing is, in this world, you have to plan for them.

three questions:
1 how did Joseph Farrah get this info that captured al-Qaida leaders and documents hava a plan called the "American Hiroshima"?
2 what is the use of closing the borders if they are already here?
3 who are the military sources also saying there is evidence to suggest al-Qaida is paying former Russian special forces Spetznaz to assist the terrorist group in locating nuclear weapons formerly concealed inside the U.S. by the Soviet Union during the Cold War? I never heard such crap and surely it is secret crap that the USSR planted nukes in our country. His sources need to be revealed and confirmed before scaring the country about nukes aready in the states.

Poorly written:

"...linked to a triggering mechanism that can be activated by a clock or, in the newer models, a call from a cell phone."
