My mother is more conservative than most of the people on FR. She believes in reincarnation and although she doesn't proclaim it, she IS HERSELF psychic, as I and everyone in my family (all of us FR-type conservatives) have seen first-hand more than once; I guess you could say we all "believe" in psychics, too, if you also would say that knowing by experience that oil floats on water is "believing." If your friend was truly understanding of any ideas behind reincarnation or sixth-sense stuff, she'd know for shootin' sure that the 9/11 conspiracy crap was BAD KARMA and built on falsehood. So your friend is probably as misinformed reincarnation and psychic phenomenon as she is on 9/11.
In other words, don't equate views on spiritualism with views on politics. They are entirely separate, whether you want to accept it nor not.
Isn't 911 CMXI ?
depends on where you hyphenate
I guess I've never thought of Roman Numerals being hyphenated.
"I say this as a good friend. You're f***ing crazy AND stupid if you actually believe that tripe."
Like that?
so far I like your advice best.
I believe in reincarnation and have met a couple of truly excellent psychics.
But I'm also a hard core conservative.
Now I know that a lot of Freepers don't understand how a person can be into metaphysics and still be conservative but it IS possible to be both.
That's why I guess I never noticed
9 = IX
11 = XI
9-11 = IX-XI
means nothing...means something
I'm sure this all just reinforces the fact that it's all 'Bush's Fault'
Don't bother...once they're that far gone only Divine intervention would be of any use.
How about watching the tapes of planes hitting the towers. Then, the towers burn. Then, they collapse.
They are retarded, what do you hope to get through their tiny skull?
"I had someone try to feed me some story that the towers fell faster than the max velocity created by gravity. Then the idiot got mad because I brought the laws of physics into it and debunked his fantasy. "
Please share what you said! I've been trying to figure out how to counter that argument.
I was a smart alec at first and said they must have had rockets mounted on the building pointed toward the ground to make it fall faster.
Eventually I just pointed out that objects only fall so fast. The laws of physics dictate that a falling object reaches terminal velocity and falls no faster PERIOD.
Actually the principle was demonstrated during one of the moon landings. The astronaut dropped a heavy object and a feather at the same time and they both fell at the same rate.
I would look up "Terminal velocity" with Google for a detailed explanation.
The problem is that in atmosphere each object has a differing terminal velocity. In atmosphere, that feather would fall far slower than a rock.
This looks like a job for the Hardly Boys!
That's the best one and I've used it on several occasions.
For some reason, Penn and Teller have credibility with "Truther" types.
That's why I specified "in atmosphere".
In atmosphere the terminal velocity of various shaped objects is determined by their cross sectional density and their resistance to air. Terminal velocity of a falling object in atmosphere is reached when the force needed to move the air out of the way of the falling object equals the force of gravity accellerating the object. This is why the terminal velocity of a skydiver spread out with arms and legs akimbo is slower than the terminal velocity of a skydiver of equal mass falling head-first with arms tucked in and legs tight.
In a perfect vacuum, there is no terminal velocity except for the limitations of the speed of light.
